I just called county prosecutor Bob McCulloch's office. I spoke with his secretary Cindy.

DFU: I saw the KMOV piece last night regarding the lies being told about Barack Obama. It is about time someone is doing something about this. Last night I saw a bumper sticker that said BARACK OBAMA IS A MUSLIM. I asked the guy about it and where he got it, and I think I may know the printer in St. Louis who is printing that bumper sticker. When I can verify the information, would Mr. McCulloch like to have that information?

CINDY: In light of what Mr. McCulloch has said, I would gather that would be something he would need to know.

I cannot even believe we are discussing something like this. Since when is it legal for an elected law enforcement officer (i.e. the Sheriffs they mentioned) to CAMPAIGN? Because THAT is what they are doing - campaigning. I KNOW that city employees in most areas are NOT allowed to campaign at work. How could this be any different. If they have JOINED Obama’s (so-called) “Truth Squad” they are indeed part of his campaign.

MISSOURIANS: Check your local statutes and state statutes regarding campaigning while at work. THEN I would suggest starting RECALL efforts for every single one of these people who have joined the “Truth Squad”. I would attempt to file whatever preliminary paperwork needed on MONDAY morning.

Just my idea of how we can fight back against these SS tactics.

I sell an “Obama bin Biden” sticker, but I’m not sure if that’s close enough for them to consider... If need be I will make a bumper sticker that says “Obama is a Muslim” I will even put it up in my store at CafePress with NO MARKUP AT ALL.

In fact, I think I’ll do that now, and include details in the description for why it has no mark-up. It should be ready in approx. 30-45 minutes from now...

I live in St. Louis County and work in St. Louis City. I heard a discussion of this story on KMOX radio this afternoon after Rush. (The show now has a conservative host on in place of the rabid liberal who used to have the time slot.) It was a panel discussion.

It is not clear (perhaps deliberately so) from the comments of McCulloch, Joyce and the other assorted Democrat public officials in Missouri whether their supposed ferreting out of "lies" about Obama is something they are planning on doing on their own time and dime, or whether they are actually referring to indictments and prosecutions as part of their official duties.

I think it must be the former, and if that is the case I don't have any problem with it, other than the lies that they themselves will tell to cover the lying Obama.

There is no legal basis that I can see for county prosecutors to prosecute political speech, even under campaign finance law restrictions.

I think the secretary in McCulloch's office made a mistake.

Our GOVERNMENT is actively trying to get a Candidate elected. This reminds me of Venezuela last Dec when all of Chavez’s employees (aka government workers) were campaigning for his “reforms”.

This needs to be stopped - what we need to do is flood the state of Missouri with rants about Obama. If there are thousands of “lawbreakers” there will be no way they can stop everyone.

Sounds like prosecuting anyone for calling Obama a Muslim would itself be a ‘Defamation’ (if indirect) against those of the Muslim faith.

Seems strange... but if you say so I’m not going to argue Missouri law with you (I’m in california)... still it’s very strange to think how someone would be ‘cited’ for such an offense.

I do know the regulations regarding advertising, so that's why I'm writing to you right away. I'm hoping that this post is OK with you. If not, I completely understand if you need to delete it.

Please note however, that the SINGLE bumper sticker below which is sold at my site has NOT been marked up by me (I make no money off of it), and it will remain at cost for the next 7 days (until 10/3/08 at midnight) if there are those here (especially Missourians) that wish to exercise their rights, and spread the news about this.
