Little bones thrown in there to make it painful to veto in an election year.

now is this one the lifting of the offshore drilling ban that prohibits drilling in 90% of offshore areas or is this the real lifting of the offshore drilling ban? ie the allowing to lapse of the moratorium that has been in place since 1981?

That is a pretty thrifty looking kitchen sink. Let me guess, $3.5 million?

Yea it’s the one that lifts the ban from 100 miles out, remove royalties 50 to 100 miles, and bans permanently 0 to 50 out.

It lifts the entire ban on drilling. As Rush pointed out the enviros will be lined up to file lawsuits against every possible well. I know, living in Wyoming they file lawsuits to prevent just about everything except breathing. That may be next though.

Just a few hours to study 1109 pages, and only an hour to debate and vote on them, signing away $630,000,000,000? Crazy, and I bet there will be tons of fun things in those 1109 pages that will rear their ugly heads later. OK, so the lift on the drilling ban is good, but it sure looks like it came at a cost.

They sure seem to think it does...

I watched this unfold on CSPAN today... the Republicans complained this was written in secret by the Democrats, was over 1000 pages in length and the Democrats gave Republicans less than 24 hours before it would be voted on.
When asked if the earmarks had been properly vetted, the Democratic leadership had no response (one lawmaker offered “my earmarks were vetted”).

If it has pork for their individual states, I hope Bush vetos it and sends it back for them to clean up and cut spending on.

In the midst of all the economic turmoil going on right now, this blatant disregard for common sense is inexcusable.

Need to follow up and see who voted for this c#*p.
