John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.

The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.

“America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen,” McCain said.

Obama says “If they need me I’ll go to Washington” What a clown.

If that's his words and attitude...then I'm really worried about a 3 AM call. This guy is NOT the roght stuff. He is ALL THE WRONG STUFF for president.

Obama making your points now -- "a president needs to be able to do more than one thing at once."

The Obama campaign should be paying me for that!

Well, McCain isn't president yet, but he is a senior senator. He has responsibilities as vice-chair of the Commerce committee and to his constituents. Obama, on the other hand, won't be missed as he has spent most of his time in the US senate running for president.

Obama says Presidents have to deal with more than one thing at a time. First, you’re not the president. Secondly, what the hell else do you have to deal with right now that holds even 1/10 the importance of this? Are there no adults in the democrat party?

Obama: If you need me call me....

This quote will be in the next campaign ad for McCain. Something good from this press conference after all!!

Last time I looked Obama and Biden were BOTH Senators. Why aren't both of them willing to go back to Washington and help for the good of country? Unlike McCain, they put power first.

Just watched Obomba. He sounded a whole lot better then McCain did today, and he made a lot of sense. We vote in 40 days. Unless we delay the election, the campaign needs to go on.

This was a huge mistake for him. He should fire the guy who came up with this lame gimmic.

"In other words, Obama basically admits that he's not even a factor within his own party."

Looks to me like BO just admitted he gets his marching orders from Pelosi and Reid! ;)

BO = ET....cause he phones it in too.... LOL! (Ok I need a graphic with BO head on ET....HAHAHAH!)

Where does Obama have to be that is more important than saving the economy?

Exactly. Obama opens up with the statement that the current economic crisis is similar to the Great Depression. Perhaps Obama doesn't know his history very well. We had unemployment rates of 25% and really didn't get out of it [with rates of 15% unemployment up until 1940] until WWII. Anything approaching that now would be catastrophic. This has less to do with multitasking and more to do with setting priorities.

1000 times morre accurate than what? Explain.

As I stated, than FR postings (including mine). FR tends to wax optimistic regarding the prospects of conservatives, Intrade is more realistic. This was apparent in 2006, when the FR poll had large majorities predicting the GOP would retain the House and Senate, when Intrade was predicting the chances (as I recall) at less than 20%. If FR conducted a poll of McCain's chances right now, the chance of him winning would be above that of Intrade's, and I believe Intrade's prediction would be more accurate. Don't you?

You are in denial. I am a Commodities trader, who also had a Intrade Account from 2006 and 2007. What do you do for a living mate?

What am I in denial about, exactly? If you are a commodities trader then you stake your livelihood on the legitimacy of market prices. Is Intrade rigged? Is it too thinly traded? What is your point?

They had Obama at 44% ten days ago, and now have him at 54%.

So? Prospects changed with the bailout. If these percentages hadn't changed it would be evidence that Intrade was bogus. If swings are evidence against a market, oil went up $16.37 on Monday, are you stating that the oil market isn't legitimate?

[Intrade] blew the 2004 race...

Bush's contract dived on election day, when traders were snookered (like everybody else) by the exit poll leak. Schrum was calling Kerry Mr. President. It would be interesting to see a timeline as to how quickly Intrade became unsnookered in comparison to the media and everyone else.

It makes it appear as though McCain is trying to back out of the debate.
