Official Obama Campaign Website Announced Protest of McCain-Palin Event in Media, PA 9/22/08
Barack Obama Campaign Website ^ | September 23, 2008

There have been several threads on Free Republic about the McCain-Palin campaign event yesterday (September, 22, 2008) in Media, PA; and in each of those threads, people who had been in attendance mentioned that there were Obama supporters there staging a protest. Some FReepers mentioned that the Obama-bots were loudly chanting Obama's name during McCain and Palin's speeches. Others reported that they were shouted at by the Obama people as they left the event venue.

Well, I found out an interesting thing about those Obama protesters while I was searching blogs for photos of McCain and Palin.

A Democrat Committee Person from Franklin Township, PA named Mark Ungemach posted an "event" announcement on Barack Obama's campaign website for this protest. Here is a screen capture of the announcement:

While I am sure that Democrat Campaigns and their goons have organized protests at their opponents' events before, I don't recall them doing it so openly on official campaign websites before this.

Barack Obama told his brownshirts to "get in their faces", so I shouldn't be so surprised that they would take to doing the organizational work for confrontational protests of their political opponents in public on the official campaign website.

I haven’t been able to attend an McCain event in my area, yet. They haven’t come down to Miami so far. But I did face the Goremongers during rallies/events for Bush.

I too got right back in their faces but instead of insults, I was throwing out fact (to liberals like sunlight to a vampire).

Difference is, these were not Gore campaign organized and supported protesters.

What is the difference between Obama organizing protests of McCain events and Chavez and his thugs?

If Obama is elected, will be be allowed to criticize the chosen one? Will papers be able to run reports and editorials critical of his administration? Will we have the right to assembly and to petition out government under “his” administration? It sure seems to me that Obama desires to do away with all of those rights the way he’s conducted his campaign.

" Anyone know if there is a precedent for this kind of thing (officially sanctioned protests/disruptions of campaign rallies of opponents)?

Yes. Her name is Jodie Evans and she tried to get on stage at Palin's speech at the GOP convention. She sponsored the first Hollywood fundraiser for Obama, has raised over #100,000 as a bundler, and AFTER the convention, appeared at another Obama fundraiser. Obama's campaign refuses to apologize or return the monies she raised.

I’m glad it didn’t get violent — especially as your little girl was there. You just never know what these emotion driven, hate filled nut jobs will do. They are akin to rabid dogs really... scary they are yelling in the face of children.

Too bad you didn’t have a stun gun set to ‘crispy’ :)

Beginner’s luck, I guess. I was just looking for photos of the McCain-Palin event because the news wasn’t reporting anything from there.

I went to the site. You can sign up to attend. Through a process of elimination, I found that they were limiting the sign up to 1000 people. I also found out that 7 people were already signed up. So I signed up. I signed up for myself and 992 other people. The next person who tries to sign up will find that he can not because the limit has been reached.

at any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing such candidate

I think that only applies at polling places. That's why there are laws against campaigning withing 50 yards(give or take) of a polling place.

Uuuuummmmmmm, is it just me or is obie’s campaign really starting feel like a cult.

If I have said it once on here, I have said it a hundred times — “Jim Jones = Obama.”

Some of these people are just getting downright scary the depths to which they will sink “in support,” of “the one,” but now they are getting their programming from the web site...whoa.

Next thing you know they will be buying up Beatles albums...like another cult we know.

We walked by them quite quickly. There was no time to shout facts as there is when you are standing on opposite corners. And trust me, they weren’t the type interested in facts anyway. Frankly, it was a perfect time to play the intimidation game right back with namecalling and shouts of John McCain. I loved it. : )

No, Obama. Don’t bother putting out information on how you would be a better President than Senator McCain on your website. Just use it to organize hatefests against your opponent. That makes such good sense. /sarc

McCain/Palin oughta print these out and have them on hand at every rally they are at. Give them to all attending.

I just saw glenn close (yeah, she’s still alive) on TMZ - she had this crazy bed hair and no make up (God I hope she wasn’t that ugly with makeup on!) claiming the choice of Sarah Palin was a disaster! Ha - you are right you old bag - she’s a disaster for the Socialist party hopes of taking over the United States....

I’m not sure if this applies specifically to campaign events, but it deal with intimidation of voters, attempting to force them to vote a certain way.

Chapter 29—Elections and Political Activities § 594. Intimidation of voters

Not sure how to get a formal complaint filed, but the following from your link is definitely applicable:

Seems to me this would definitely apply to Senator McCain and any other Federal Members that were with him.

I did find that the barakobama.com servers are in San Jose, and registered in North Carolina.

Hey, John Robinson recovered a whole lot (all?) of the articles lost in the server switchover, so this article is back up again. Can you pass this along to any lists you have, so that, when the McCain campaign gears up again, folks will know that the Obama campaign is organizing protests of the McCain-Palin rallies on their campaign website? Thanks.

Obama You tube video: He says to his supporters "talk to your neighbors (about this election), argue with them, get in their faces"

I just now had the opportunity to review the above video. Now, I don't know about where you live, but I suspect that most people's neighbors don't like it when people argue with them and get in their faces about whom to vote for. Many people don't care to discuss it at all. But if the subject DOES somehow arise, the better tactic would be to refer to those wonderful facts you were talking about Brytani, to persuade our brethren to join our side. I'm afraid most people won't realize what kind of man they voted into office until it's too late.

Get a load of Obama's supporters in the background of that video, they indeed look like thugs and brownshirts. THOSE are the kinds of people he attracts. THOSE are the people on HIS side. It says it all don't you think?

I love all your wonderful questions. We may be in for a really rocky road in the not to distant future. And I can definitely see Obama instituting emergency measures to curtail our freedom (many feared such would happen under Clinton) and thus the answer to all your questions could well be NO. I hope and pray not.
