Actually, I'm kinda surprized Obama would encourage his supporters to attend a McCain/Palin rally where they would hear reasoned and common sense ideas. He is taking a risk doing this.

I was at the event yesterday and can verify that there was an obviously organized counter-event staged by the Democrats. There were hundreds of them there.

Most of us found it funny. We had to be bused in from a mall that was 2 miles away because parking is limited in the town of Media. The Dems had lined the approaching road with sign holders. Those of us on the bus just smiled and waved back. When we got off the bus, we were met with people shouting in our faces - even at my 13-year-old daughter who just laughed back at them.

I thanked a few of them for coming to the event because it meant that they were not out knocking on doors and making calls to independents. Between this and us just smiling back at them, I think they just got angrier.

What a complete waste of time for the Dems. Did they really think they would change the minds of the people coming to a Republican rally? How stupid can they be?!

I say - let them do this for every event. What morons!

I’m not sure if this applies specifically to campaign events, but it deal with intimidation of voters, attempting to force them to vote a certain way.

Chapter 29—Elections and Political Activities
§ 594. Intimidation of voters
Whoever intimidates, threatens, coerces, or attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce, any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he may choose, or of causing such other person to vote for, or not to vote for, any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, at any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing such candidate, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

I’m sure this has happened before in politics. The best thing to do is for all the large republican men to show up at the rally, and shout down the Obambibots. And, if the Obamabots get violent, utilize self-defense techniques as necessary.

It may apply. That type of politics is what this nation fought a war against. Sounds like Obama wants to be a dictator. I wish I knew someone that could pursue this. I think this law applies

On our way out of the rally, I past by the loony tunes. They began saying things in response to my holding up my, “Proud Military Mom for McCain/Palin” sign. I stopped and held the sign higher. One man yelled ..we have lots of jobs for you. I replied, “ One I don’t need your kind of jobs. Two I think you oughta save those jobs for yourselves since it seems you can use one and maybe some for your welfare friends.”
At that point one of the cops told me to move along, we are trying to keep trouble at a minimum. I told him that I was responding to their taunts and if he was there to protect their First Amendment Rights, he should be prepared to protect mine as well. He just smiled and shook his head and I walked on.

The more I read it, the more I believe this statute does apply.

There is a way for a person to file a complaint with the FEC.

Requirements:

Must be in writing with all documents included.
Must be notarized
other requirements for information that the complain must contain.

To make a formal complaint on this, all we need is a freeper who’s a good writer who has access to a notary and is of course willing to put their name on the complaint.

More info here http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/complain.shtml

Yep. Didn't Obama say he wanted to change how the game of politics was played? I guess this is a change; just not the kind of change most folks thought he meant. Who woulda thunk his presidential campaign website would organize protests against the other party's candidate?

Yes, it was a terrific event yesterday in Media, onemiddleamerican, so full of enthusiasm! Good crowd size also.

It was nice to hear the candidates in person. Palin brought her husband and her children, Willow and Piper. Joe Lieberman spoke first and had the best line of the evening, "It's nice to be in a place where the MEDIA loves John McCain!"

Obama supporters were there and as Palin and McCain were speaking shouted, "O..bam..a, O..bam..a, which made it more difficult to hear Palin and McCain. Now we know how aggressive, rude, and uncouth the other side can be, but I can't imagine going to an Obama rally and shouting, "John..Mc...Cain, John..Mc..Cain." while Obama and Biden were speaking or at any point. One of the two yungen's who were with us said, that kind of behavior, only makes those leaning to our side, more resolute. Smart thinking for one so young!

Some on our side did try to get that going (John..Mc..Cain -and I must admit was thinking of doing it myself) in opposition to "drown out" the Obama supporters, but then drew quiet so we could hear Senator McCain speak.

As we were leaving, Obama supporters were standing on the side shouting at us, and as we were walking by we put our thumbs down and shouted, "losers" in their faces. As we all well know, free speech is for them, not for us.

The situation with the shuttle buses, which were supposed to be there to drive us back to the Springfield Mall was terrible, however. We had to wait a half hour for the first one to show, and there was no one directing the waiting crowd of thousands, not even the police. Eventually, a few of us took a Septa bus to the tolley which then took us to the mall. The PA McCain camp has to work on that.

Regardless, it was worth it. We took a friends two sons with us (ages 14 and 16) and they expressed a desire to get involved in the campaign. They loved the rally! : )

We ran into ex PA rep Steve Friend's son Chris, a friend since working in Steve Friend's bid for the Senate against Arlen Specter, years ago. We remain in touch, but it was a nice surprise. He works for the Philly Bulletin, and will be getting a few words in about the rally, though he said the Bulletin was covering it.

In all, a great event!

Please see post #34. I was there and thought the same thing. But we were right back in their faces, as we faced the gaunlet to and from.

Funny thing is, I was just Googling blogs and news for photos to post of Sarah Palin in her red leather jacket, and I found the protest announcement on the Obama campaign website.

And I did also find (elsewhere) and posted those photos of Sarah and the POW/MIA chopper.

GREAT post, one!!!!! Thank you for informing us! : ) This time there were many more of us than there were of them. Notice we didn’t beat any of them up, and we didn’t attack their signs like a bunch of rabid dogs. They all left with their signs in tact! : )

I smell fear coming from the Obama campaign. A frightened animal is dangerous.

“There is no such thing as a “level” playing field when doing politics Chicago style.”

Makes you wonder how the voting dead dems get the word. Could be the cemeteries are wired for broadband or dialup.
