Good for Bloomie for saying that. If Paulson were in a Democrat’s administration, we on FR would be screaming bloody murder that once his firm, Goldman, and Morgan Stanley were threatened, then it was time for the trillion-dollar bailout—though I know it’s not that simple.

I am an Orthopedist gold mine. Heat makes you feel good for a few minutes but increases the inflammation. Ice is a miracle. It stings at first but makes things better once you get past the stinging. I keep about dozen ice packs (the cloth covered ones) in the freezer.

You are welcome. I suffer myself, as do my patients and roughly 40 percent of the population on any given day. Today back pain is epidemic for too many reasons to list here.

Don’t forget, get the area good and numb — that’s how you know your getting to the involved tissue.

Let us decipher Obama Economics;

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/economy/

The Problem

Tax Cuts for Wealthy Instead of Middle Class: The Bush tax cuts give those who earn over $1 million dollars a tax cut nearly 160 times greater than that received by middle-income Americans.

.
.
Mixing percentages with dollar amounts doesn’t mean the ‘wealthy’ pay less, the tax system is already ‘progressive’, meaning you make more, you pay a higher percentage.

75% of those who got Bush’s tax cuts are small business, a big part of jobs and opportunity. Lower tax rates bring in more revenue to government, and increase job opportunity for people;

.

Tax Cuts for Wealthy vs Support Small Business? This contradicts his own page, Obama is not telling the truth somewhere on this page. Or the ‘wealthy’ don’t use or run small business. Why pick and choose who has lower tax rates? Why not low tax rates for all if it has brought in more revenue?

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/economy/

Support Small Business

* Provide Tax Relief for Small Businesses and Start Up Companies: Barack Obama and Joe Biden will eliminate all capital gains taxes on start-up and small businesses to encourage innovation and job creation.

.
.
And how about older, more mature mid-sized companies? S and P 500 companies? Russel 2000 companies? Aren’t they providing steady jobs and job creation? Don’t they rely on even bigger companies for revenue?

.
.
Find the tax cut in this next quote, there is no rate cut.

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/economy/

Provide a Tax Cut for Working Families:

Obama and Biden will restore fairness to the tax code and provide 150 million workers the tax relief they need. Obama and Biden will create a new “Making Work Pay” tax credit of up to $500 per person, or $1,000 per working family. The “Making Work Pay” tax credit will completely eliminate income taxes for 10 million Americans.

.
.
Here is the Obama plan for any rate cut;

http://www.barackobama.com/issues/economy/

Eliminate Income Taxes for Seniors Making Less than $50,000: Barack Obama will eliminate all income taxation of seniors making less than $50,000 per year.

.
.
Wow, we can all agree on no taxes for Seniors Making Less than $50,000.

.
.
Obama’s tax plan is more complicating than any taxes should be, and he is just trying to cover up a bad economic policy with a little fluff. Obama and most his supporters do not understand the economics that have made the United States of America the most prosperous and generous Nation in history, and they wouldn’t want voters to understand.

“Goldman, and Morgan Stanley were threatened, then it was time for the trillion-dollar bailout—though I know it’s not that simple.”

I think that is what will happen. Toss in the worst of the worst - MER. The merger of MER and BAC cannot be allowed to go through. It will not cost trillions of course and it is possible that the Treasury could be a net gainer. But MER, GS, and MSH need to fail. They are buggy-whip companies.

I appreciate the moral hazard of having the Feds own even for a short time AIG.

Look on the bright side -- we now own the Manchester United Football (Soccer) team.

The other way to really knock down back pain is to loose weight. I have a clear threshold one pound over 193 I am in pain. 192 I’m OK. use a bathroom scale and see if you can find a break point.

Good thing Dodd is in the government. He definitely couldn’t make it as a doctor or automobile repairman.

I absolutely was the first one to mention Donna Brazille’s mention of Christ the community organizer and Pontius Pilate the Governor on this very thread.

Reason I was first to mention it was because, duh, I typed it AS IT HAPPENED in front of my lying eyes.

Took a couple of days for Rush and the rest to pick up on it but let the record show it happened here first.

I’ve seen it raised on several threads this bill is unconstitutional. There are some serious questions regarding the authority this bill gives Paulson- and it’s written in -that none of it is subject to judicial review.

Why are the dems demanding more be done for the ‘home owners’ now?

A porker never turns down more slop ($$$) in the trough.

On a human level I agree I hate to see this at GWB’s expense but he has been in politics all his life grew up in a political family he knows the score.

At the end of the day even if he would not publicly say it a this stage of his Presidency I am sure he would gladly take all of this and more beside if it means that the White House remains in Republican hands.

IMHO at the end of the day whatever is said and by who in particular the mantra of I put country in front of party etc when it comes to it no true Republican and I count both McCain and GWB as that would want to loose the White House to the dems.

“Why are the dems demanding more be done for the ‘home owners’ now?”

Dems got us into this trouble in the first place. See below.

From a recent IBD editorial:

“It was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that dictated where mortgage lenders could lend, and originally helped create the market for the high-risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus the balance sheets of many of Wall Street’s most revered institutions.

Tough new regulations forced lenders into high-risk areas where they had no choice but to lower lending standards to make the loans that sound business practices had previously guarded against making. It was either that or face stiff government penalties.

The untold story in this whole national crisis is that President Clinton put on steroids the Community Redevelopment Act, a well-intended Carter-era law designed to encourage minority homeownership. And in so doing, he helped create the market for the risky subprime loans that he and Democrats now decry as not only greedy but “predatory.”
