A week after a high-profile send-up of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on "Saturday Night Live," the NBC comedy show returned to making fun of the Alaskan governor in a skit where New York Times reporters sought to probe the possibility Palin's husband was having sex with the couple's own daughters.
"What about the husband?" asked a Times reporter during a mock assignment meeting for the paper. "You know he's doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It's Alaska."
The assignment editor for the Times, portrayed by actor James Franco, responded: "He very well could be. Admittedly, there is no evidence of that, but on the other hand, there is no convincing evidence to the contrary. And these are just some of the lingering questions about Governor Palin."
The skit featured a photo of one reporter and an on-screen message that stated, "In 2009 [reporter] Howland Gwathmey Moss, V was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his Times series on unproven, yet un-disproven incest in the Palin family. Sadly, he was to die 3 months later, run over by a snow machine, driven by a polar bear."
The final shot showed an image of a New York Times page, with headlines that included:
"While No Direct Evidence of Incest in Palin Family Emerges, Counter Evidence Remains Agonizingly Elusive" and "In a Small Alaska Town, Doubts Still Linger."

Thank you both for your reports of this sketch.
I’ll have to keep an eye out to see it somewhere.
Thanks for posting the link to the clip.
I watched it, and there was no doubt whatsoever that they were skewering the NYT and other media. Very effectively, at that.
I’ve never been a SNL fan, but this was funny, and hit the mark.
Here’s a post with the link to the video clip.

I disagree. Anytime someone stoops this LOW even in jest, about incest, it ceases to be funny!!!
Perhaps it was going after the press, but when you have a 17 yr old girl pregnant in the joke, it ain’t funny. Even SNL should know when they are over the line and this is miles over that line.
Most of us don’t watch that piece of garbage. Most of their audience is crackheads and drunks. Shouldn’t comedy shows make you laugh every decade or so???
Pray for W, Palin and Our Troops
Hysterical SLAM against the NYSlimes!
LOVED it... thanks for posting ... I very seldom do video and I’m glad I did this one!
I’ve been to AK (cousins there) - so I’ve got a little knowledge of it. The “expert” did a great job of depicting real Alaska. The reporters did a great job of depicting reporters. Anyone who doesn’t realize the objects of the slam here were SNOBama and the NYSlimes either didn’t watch the sketch, or can not think.
One thing the “expert” could have mentioned is that it IS quite likely to see moose wandering around the streets of town at times, and that they are actually much more dangerous than the polar bears - but it probably would have overloaded the sketch.
Also, to appreciate the the depth of the understatement used by the expert, you really have to know Alaska. Alaska is BIG.
Seriously. Does anyone watch SNL anymore? Sometime about 1987, they ceased to be funny anymore. Now they are nothing more than a shill for the RATS. I’m really surprised too, since Lorne Michaels is a McCain supporter.
I don’t expect them to be pro-Republican ... the original cast was obviously Liberal, but they didn’t stoop to such a disgusting, vile level.
However, this only helps gain votes FOR Palin. The majority of Americans would be disgusted by such attacks.
Alaska is BIG...even bigger than Queens.
;)PaMom
I think the point here was to make fun of the NYT and other liberal rags, who will print any scurrilous lie about the Palins, treating it as a real story.
SNL is past its expiration date.
It shows the evil lengths the media will go to smear the Palins. It is indeed vile, but it is identical to threads I read on DailyKos over Labor Day. I posted on this forum a DailyKos thread alleging that Trig was a result of a rape of Bristol by Todd Palin. Had these things been said about the Obamas on FreeRepublic, there would have been 2-hour town hall "discussions" on Nightline and 20/20 about it, and elaborate charts connecting the poster with the McCain campaign in the Times.
Watched the skit, and found it to be a spoof on NY Times, but also agree that they could have left out the incest reference and been as effective.
Yup: even bigger than Queens.
When I first saw Alaska, after having seen many other HUGE areas, I was astounded. I groped all over the place trying to dream up superlatives and comparisons for AK. All fail. I finally realized there is no sense in trying - Alaska is big ... period.
(and there are no roads)
That sounds hilarious. I hope somebody Youtubes that.
The skit has been pulled from Youtube or something. Your link no longer goes to it.
Yes, unfortunately you’re right. NBC complained.
That is extremely lame. I just watched the “McCain” skit linked through to NBC and it was a complete bomb. So they have a funny one that hits the NYTs and that one they keep unavailable!?! Good marketing strategery. Not.
I'm very sorry for your experience, and for others who have been through anything similar. May God grant you a special measure of His grace, strength, and comfort.
Where is it?
