On Thursday, the New York Times filed another piece cheering Barack Obama for making inroads in a traditionally Republican state - Ian Urbina's "Both Parties Set Sights on Virginia in November." Back on August 17, the state was North Carolina, and Obama's quest was greeted in the Times with an optimistic story headlined "Obama Backers Mobilize in Bid to Wrest State From Republican Grip." The Times hasn't followed up on North Carolina, perhaps because cumulative polling data show John McCain with a nine-point lead there (the August story quoted an average lead of four points in the polls).

The Times hasn't followed up on North Carolina, perhaps because cumulative polling data show John McCain with a nine-point lead there (the August story quoted an average lead of four points in the polls).

In an unguarded moment in Thursday's piece, Urbina throws in a dash of liberal elitism while describing Obama's Virginia supporters in flattering terms. It's a reverse echo of the Washington Post's notorious "poor, uneducated, and easy to command" 1993 insult of Virginia-based televangelists Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson's conservative followers, in a paragraph on the state's voter demographics:

Mr. McCain is expected to draw strong support from the more rural and southwest areas of the state, particularly among white working-class men, in a region that Mr. Obama lost in his otherwise resounding victory in the Feb. 12 primary, Professor Sabato said.

Support for Mr. Obama is much stronger in the northeastern section of the state, especially in places like Fairfax County, near Washington, whose population is younger, wealthier, better educated and more diverse.

Yeah, but it’s those “typical clingers” who will decide the election.

By “better educated” I guess they mean people who allowed their indoctrination by Marxist college professors to sink in and take hold.

Anita, I’m not from Virginia, but I am elite from Louisiana, and I have seen the light shining upon Barack, and it’s real. For your reading pleasures of you stubborn biggoted holdouts, YES, WE CAN, Support Barack, a 100% TRUE Testimony*******************************

Don’t be so smug & fast now, Millions of people simply adore Barack and have come to get in your face and ROCK your VOTE, until you git it!

I just sold my home, what’s left of the stock portfolio, and all of my precious possessions and donated the proceeds to the Obama campaign. (They refused to take any of the kids or the dogs though, and I’m still trying to figure that one out.) It is the most patriotic thing to do to change all that’s wrong in America. Give to the Baracks-Government, it feels sssooo good., just like Mr. Bidens said it would. YES WE CAN! And it will ease your burdens and give you peace of mind.

I am now 90% guilt-free of the fact that 150 years ago, the USA had slavery. I can proudly stand up with Barack and yell,” I am not an EVIL WhiteDevil Racist, because I am voting for the “ONE” that we have all been waiting for!” We have finally Overcome Slavery, at last, and changed all that’s wrong in our bad country of America. YES, WE CAN!

Due to Barack’s color, he can promise me a job (and pay me if I don’t work), YES, We Can! However, I truly want a job so I can be more patriotic and start paying higher taxes and help to pay off the money that I owe for REPARATIONS ($$$ We emigrated in 1930s) Anyway, the reparations will erase the remaining 10% of my guilt afflicted mind and then I can move on as a citizen of the global world, just like Barack! YES, WE CAN!

Another reason to vote for the One: Barack will cure my bad leg through his Universal Healthcare plan. He will make all my cousins and their cousins- cousins legal citizens so they can have free medicine and vote, too (since they are entitled.). YES, WE CAN!

Barack has given me Hope, Change, and more Hope. And I Hope you feel the same way as I do about the Change to a handsome man of color. (He is even more handsome than our Great Mayor of the Chocolate City, Ray Nagen. Plus, he was a community organizer for the presigious ACORN organization. So I’m thinking he might have organized some of the peoples onto those hundreds of empty school busses instead of leaving them down here to drown. So there you have it, he is more handsome than our Great Mayor, a better ACORN organizer, and deserves to be President.) YES, HE CAN!

Whether you are born white(shamefully), or Indian, Asian, Latino, or anything non-Black, you should be embarassed to have been born a racist-American. So, you must stand at the next local Barack rally, wave a fist (men only), jump up and down while wiping tears (womens) and chant:

Vote Black, Vote Barack!...Vote Black, Vote Barack!....

{Note: The above does not apply to the followers of Mohammed. If you are Muslims, we welcome your financial support from here and abroad. But please stay away from our rallies and out of the media until our One ascends to Rule America. (Rewards will flow to you later)}

(p.s. if you come to our campaign stops, please leave your American flag pin at home, citizens of the world have pledged not to offend anyone with symbols of Yankee Imperialism and American Hegemony.) YES WE CAN!..YES WE CAN! and YES,.... HE, THE ONE, WILL RULE YOU!

Support for Obama is STRONGEST in the nation's very non-diverse African American urban neighborhoods, areas plagued by low educational achievement, high crime, high rates of drug use, and a “Do it for me”, “I want mine now” attitude toward government. The Times is, not for the first time, clueless.

Too bad I missed it - the last time that they mocked Obama - about the media following Obama to Europe like love-sick puppies - Obama’s numbers went down!

I hope that happens again to Obama with this skit!

Washington, whose population is... wealthier...and more diverse.

There is a high correlation between income disparity in a geographic area and voting Democrat. In localities where people are of similar income, they tend to vote Republican. Where the rich and the poor live close to one another, both tend to vote Democrat.

Northern Virginia would be more Republican, if the poor part of diverse relocated from there.

Oh, yeah. It sends up NYT in the best skit they’ve done in years! A bunch of reporters from the “pool” are supposed to go to Alaska, but all but 3 crap out: no transgender toilets in Alaska, etc. When they are shown a picture of a snowmobiler on a “snow machine” and asked if they know what it is, one responds “A baptising machine?”

“younger, wealthier, better educated and more diverse.”

Well that certainly will endear Obama to those ignorant, gun clinging, religious people throughout the nation...way to go NYT. Insulting the average American as a way to win votes...novel idea. The elite are too obstuse to see that Palin appeals because she isn’t a snobbish elitist.
