How the Palin email hacker suspect was caught Thomas Lifson September 20, 2008

TGDaily, a tech site, explains how the suspected Palin email hacker, 20-year-old David Kernell, a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and son of Democratic Tennessee state representative Mike Kernell, was caught. He used a proxy server supposed to anonymize his identity, but the owner was quite upset at being used to cover illegal activities, and was also contacted by the FBI. Read the further details here.

It is obvious from posts the hacker made that he was fully conscious of breaking the law.

There is some suggestion that the hacker may have a loophole. Chloe Albanesius of PC Magazine writes:

I hope they throw the book at him. What a punk. The only thing I hate worse than people who sit behind their keyboards committing crimes and invading privacy are people who destroy the English language with their incorrect and hyperbolic usage of words with clear definitions.

I think there is less chance this will be swept under the rug than there would have been even a year ago. The Dems are coming under fire from every direction and even their bosom buddies in the press are going to be hard pressed to put a lid on so very much.

Although I wouldn't be surprised to see him come out of it without a record, depressed but certainly not surprised.

Frankly, I would consider it a trillion dollars well spent if it did nothing else but finally bring some appearance of justice to the Democrats who up to their collective butts in so much of what ails America today. Sadly with the backing the bad guys have in the press nothing will come of any of this if there is not vigorous investigation and prosecution of every single one of them. We've discussed the administration's unwillingness to come down hard on evil ones and I don't see that this will be any different.

The only way I can see it working out would be for a few people in Congress to make such an issue of it, and obstruct any attempt at the bail out, until those who have been so complicit in the sham accounting and vote buying are forced to take some heat. I have never seen Dirty Harry or Pelosi so subdued in my years of watching them. There's something there and they are afraid it's going to get out and they won't be able to stand up to it.

I would make my demands as to what it would take to smoke out these bastards then sit back not move a finger to get the bail out ball rolling until the demands were met or being met. We would take a lot of heat, probably more than we've taken in my lifetime, but there is so much outright crime involved that once it begins to unfurl there will be no stopping it.

I don't have much time left in this dream session, so I'll wander on now and spend what I have left on Sarah!

Loophole is just another word for Liberal.

Agreed this kid should be punished but it won’t happen.

If he is - more of our ‘freedoms’ will be curtailed than necessary to punish all of us.

Names of hackers should be kept in a special list where techies from all over the world can feel free to hack their sites and disable their equipment....

Fight hackers with professional hacking.

“Has he actually been “caught”? Will he be charged with anything or are we just going to give him free press and encourage more such attacks by showing that nothing (except free publicity) will result?”

That is what I would like to know too! Wonder if there will be a follow up on this story when the jerk is arrested and charged. Guess I won’t hole my breath since the jerk is the son of a DEMORAT! Figures!

It was like the democrat couple that "accidentally" copied and recorded Newt Gingrich's cell phone calls... whatever happened to them?

It was the democrat rep from the state of Washington that used the stuff...

remember there are two justice systems in this country ...those for thee and not for me...

Caught with dead girl in your car -you would go to prison... a democrat is elected to the Senate

Have a male prostitution ring working out of your apartment- you would at the least have to pay taxes on earnings, if you're a democrat, you get to chair a committee and lisp your way to a fat Congressional pension

Get blowj#bs at work from a subordinate-you'd be fired and liable for civil damages... if you're a democrat, you're revered as the greatest President ever and just a lovable rogue

Lie in a FEDERAL court under oath- you and I would see the inside of a prison... if you're a democrat , well depending on Scottish precedent and party affiliation-you get to stay on as president of the United States of America

Get caught while driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and in an accident- stiff fine, loss of license possible jail time, if you're a democrat- wear a soft neck collar, go to rehab and have the idiots in your pathetic state elect you to Congress

smoke crack, hire prostitutes and scam away hundreds of thousands of dollars.... you and me----jail... A democrat gets to be elected Mayor of city.

"Forget" to pay taxes on rental property-jail, penalty and interests with possible forfeiture of property until debt repaid, if ever... If you're a democrat, well that's just an "honest" mistake....

Leave a car in a federal parking lot for a couple of years with no tags or registration= car towed and impounded. If a democrat-well it's just not fair, now is it?

Have a hand gun and use it to ward off burglar at home in Washington DC- jail, fines and permanent loss of the ability to get a concealed carry permit... If you're of the privileged class- you get to keep your job at the Washington Post as writer...

So you see, this poor immature mixed up crazy young kid will get counseling for his "school boy" prank.... you and I would be sitting right now in a hard, small wooden chair behind locked doors with either the temperature at 55 degrees or 95 degrees. The last bathroom break would have been 12 hours ago and you would like to know what time it is but dog gone it, those guys with the suits keep forgetting to tell you anything, they just keep asking questions and putting papers in front of your face to sign.....

Nothing is going to happen to this tool. He's a democrat. So everybody needs to move along.

They’ve been taught by their ‘rat fathers, who always get them off the hook, that it’s okay to break the law as long as your target is a Republican, or a conservative, or any white person they’ve decided to hate for being successful or rich, etc.

Even if he found something, doesn’t the law forbid inclusion of evidence obtained illegally?

What is the difference between this and Watergate?

Scale mostly, and cover up by the President, and the rank of those involved in the crime. Other than that they are identical.

Is this even being covered by the MSM today? We all know if it was a Republican’s kid hacking Obama’s or Biden’s e-mail, all the pundits would be demanding to know what the ties were to the McCain campaign. If this continues to get swept under the rug, somebody should do an ad questioning the connection to Obama, and McCain should keep bringing it up, even in the debates. This is an outrage. This could have potentially thrown the election to Obama if there had been anything embarrassing. Instead the MSM and libs lie by twisting it around that she might have been doing govt business.

Lol, never saw that movie. Is it worth it, i.e., does it appeal to perverts, libs, America’s enemies, etc.? If not, maybe I’ll rent it. Rottentomatoes gives it a 70% approval rating.

Can the Palins file a civil suit against this jerk? Once he didn’t find any dirt, he didn’t have to be malicious and post private cell numbers and e-mails, but he had to brag. Too clever by half.
