Sources: Intense Pressure Led To Palin UN Snub

CBS 2 HD Has Learned Democrats Threatened To Attack Jewish Groups' Tax Exempt Status Over VP Nominee Invite

Marcia Kramer NEW YORK (CBS) ― Hillary Clinton won't be speaking at Monday's anti-Iran rally at the United Nations -- and neither will Republican Sarah Palin or any other politicians for that matter.

The reason? A heated behind the scenes tug-of-war.

Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.

"This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker," Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD.

Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate.

"I have never seen such raw emotion -- on both sides," said someone close to the situation.

The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, "it could jeopardize their tax exempt status" if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.

So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.

"It's an absolute shame that this has happened," Hikind said. "To threaten organizations … to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don't withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we're going to look into your tax exempt status … that's McCarthyism."

Another Jewish group tried to step into the breach by inviting Palin to a different protest a day earlier.

"I'm absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats," said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. "I'm a Democrat and for the first time in my life I'm going to vote Republican. I can't take it anymore."

As for Sen. Clinton, she brushed right past CBS 2 HD's Lou Young when he tried to ask her about the issue on Thursday night.

Lou Young: "Were the organizers of Monday's rally right to depoliticize it?"

Clinton walked past Young, said "Thank you all very much" and started hugging people.

Clinton's people tell CBS 2 HD she intends to make some statement of support for the protestors. She is also expected to attack Ahmadinejad's pro-nuke, anti-Israel stance.

I still think that Sarah should go to the rally. She could stay in the crowd and give her speech to the media that would have to cover the fact that she is there.

I would be great because of these simple facts:

1.) Obama simply cannot have her there. He needs to have this whole Iran-thing forgotten. With her there, it is front-n-center.

2.) It looks presidential.

3.) It would be the "maverick" thing to do. John McCain could give a press release saying "nobody tells Sarah what she can and cannot do. I can't wait to introduce her to Washington!" It would rock.

4.) It looks tough and Americans like tough.

5.) It is popular. I think that about 95% of the population thinks that Iran shouldn't be allowed to have Da Bomb. It can only help.

6.) It is the right thing to do. Let's not underestimate the power of doing the right thing. Despite all of the other good reasons to go, actually opposing Iran's nuclear ambitions is right.

Team McCain has to understand that this is not an ordinaly election and fighting with the Marquis de Queensbury rules isn't going to win. Get tough and get in their faces.

Disappointing to see Jews bullied by fascist thugs once again, and taking it lying down.

Whatever happened to "Never Again?"

Democrats - They are hell bent on driving their own voters away with these ludicrous acts!

There is only one rational conclusion--the 'rats have determined that they no longer need to work for the Jewish vote. If I were Jewish I would be seriously concerned about what this bodes for the future.

An idea: let’s see if we can find out who made the threats.

Whatever happened to ‘Never Again?’

Except for the much maligned JDL (they are conservative) the warning seems to have been forgotten by much of the younger Jewish population.

The Democrats think they own the IRS? They probably have plenty of flunkies and errand boys inside the organization. But threatening a religious group if it doesn’t go along with you? That’s Nazi.

We ain't seen nothing yet if that Chicago thug gets elected. (Putin redux?)

Obama is Marxist/Socialist, not facist. The power core of the Jewish influence in America is also Marxist/Socialist having come over to America with their hate against the Russian Tzars.

Isn’t it ironic that most Jews I know love godbama? Apparently, they are not willing to stand up for their homeland nor are they willing to stand up to the dems that would have the jews pushed into the sea.

“CBS 2 HD Has Learned Democrats Threatened To Attack Jewish Groups’ Tax Exempt Status Over VP Nominee Invite.”

Which Democrats? We need names.

There is only one difference between the Nazi’s of Germany and the RATS of the USA. Their head guy is 1/2 black, the Nazi’s was white.

An idea: let’s see if we can find out who made the threats.

I am going to be listening very carefully to Rabbi Joe tomorrow morning (WABC radio-Religion On The Line)

Rabbi Joe is part of a second group who invited Sarah to attend a different rally against Imanutjob.

If there was any twisting of arm, he might have known about it.

At the same time, The Jewish Action Alliance, Stand With Us, the Israel Project, Americans for a Safe Israel, The Center for Security Policy, the Catholic League, Rabbi Potasnik from NY Board of Rabbis, the Traditional Values Coalition, and the Alliance of Iranian Women will hold an interfaith counter-rally to protest Ahmadinejad’s presence at the United Nations, and to oppose his nuclear weapons program and his outrageous threats against America’s ally, Israel.

Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been invited to speak along with other politicians, Democrats and Republicans.

That is not McCarthyism, it is typical liberal Democrat tactics.

Isn't it about time that the American people removed the word "democrat" from the "Democratic Party"?

Their tactics are militant, and radical. Just like those of Al-Qaeda and very much like those in communist countries. The democrats of today are "socialists" and in many respects, "communist".

The "democrat" in the democratic party's name is now equivalent to the "democrat" in the title of such countries as "Democratic People's Republic of Korea".

The democrats have thoroughly destroyed the meaning of "democratic".

No, this is American Economics 2001 where the dollar is more important than the principle. Heralded by the UN as an example for all the World to honor.

This is what happens when government starts ignoring the first amendment and starts exerting control over religious organizations. The tax code is used as a hammer to control free speech.

I've read that Hillary did not pull out in a huff, that the Obama campaign asked her to pull out. Of course, this request coincides with her reluctance to share a stage with Palin, because she would suffer in the comparison.

This was an Obama operation. Chicago Thug Politics is seen in action, once again. So much for hopey-changiness.

The banner (picture in post #20) reads “The Jews are our misfortune”. I think the name of the store would be equivalent to “Best Value”.

Competing rallies, eh. I would like to see the crowd for this event somewhat bigger than the original Conference crowd.

Fr. Paul Keenan

I didn't know Fr. Paul had passed away. Strangely I stopped listening to Religion on the Line soon after they dumped the left-wing Protestant guy. I think the show really needed his wacko positions as a foil. After that when Keenan and Postasnik were always on together it seemed they did more shtick than religious philosophy and I stopped listening.

I admired Fr. Paul. Like most associated with the Church he was an eloquent spokesman for moral positions which have unfortunately become politically incorrect in our time. I am sorry to learn of his passing.
