Of all the advantages Gov. Sarah Palin has brought to the GOP ticket, the most important may be that she has gotten into Barack Obama's head. How else to explain Sen. Obama's decision to go one-on-one against "Sarah Barracuda," captain of the Wasilla High state basketball champs?
It's a matchup he'll lose. If Mr. Obama wants to win, he needs to remember he's running against John McCain for president, not Mrs. Palin for vice president.
In Mrs. Palin, Mr. Obama faces a political phenomenon who has altered the election's dynamics. Americans have rarely seen someone who immediately connects with large numbers of voters at such a visceral level. Mrs. Palin may be the first vice presidential candidate since Lyndon B. Johnson to change an election's outcome. If Mr. Obama keeps attacking her, the odds of Gov. Palin becoming Vice President Palin increase significantly.

Palin is in zer-0s head like some voodoo curse. He can’t rest until she’s destroyed, and in the meantime he’s destroying himself. It’s really rather fun to watch.
Just like Patton was in the German high command's collective minds in the weeks leading up to Normandy.
Great post - thanks - better than Rove’s article!
Obama has lost focus and is off his message. McCain-Palin is inside his OODA Loop and he is in full reaction mode.
He has transitioned from fighter to target.
Very good post.
Palin is the stake in the Feminist movement heart that has seen women become just as crude, rude and vulgar as their worst male counterparts.
i wasnt comparing her to him. I was talking about the Electoral college senario.
This tactic was used effectively by Lee Atwater in the 1988 campaign of Bush 41 vs. Dukakis.
The story is told that prior to the first debate, all of the major players were standing on opposite sides of the stage. At a moment when Dukakis looked over at the Bush huddle, Atwater leaned over to Bush 41, whispered into his ear and they both erupted laughing.
When asked later what was said, Atwater said "OK. He's looking. Start laughing." Atwater knew that Dukakis would think they were talking about HIM and it would unnerve him, which it did.
Brilliant.
SARAH!
You magnificent woman!
I heard your speech!
But the electoral maps I have seen still show Obama ahead. I know, they could be wrong. When they do national polls, I suppose they don’t have enough samples in most states to be statistically reliable, so the state polls are kind of “stale.”
Ohio is a mystery. One poll shows McC ahead and the other shows Obama. It makes me wonder if McC wants to wins in the midwest when he talks about the “jobs that aren’t coming back.”
Barack Obama -- always a bridesmaid, never a bride.
