THE White House race has plumbed new depths as Barack Obama accused John McCain of stooping to "lies and phony outrage" in response to the Democrat's mocking talk of "lipstick on a pig".
In a new Internet ad, the McCain campaign accused Senator Obama of a sexist "smear" against the Republican's female running mate, Sarah Palin. But Senator Obama aides flagged a YouTube video showing Senator McCain using the same phrase himself.
"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig," Senator Obama said at a school in Norfolk, Virginia, reprising his line to attack the Republican pair's claim to be "maverick" reformers at odds with their own party.
"They seize on an innocent remark, try to take it out of context, throw up an outrageous ad, because they know that it's catnip to the news media," he said.
"I don't care what they say about me. But I love this country too much to let them take over another election with lies and phony outrage and 'Swift Boat' politics," he said, referring to an ad offensive against 2004 Democratic nominee John Kerry.
The McCain campaign ad over the lipstick row came just after another hugely controversial spot that had accused Senator Obama of favoring explicit sex education for kindergarten-aged children.

Was this a phony finger?

B Hussein denied this also?
Hitlery had his phony number.
Oh but Media is already bailing him out, at least the local crap I get is.
Seems they can’t see the difference between McCain calling Hillary’s health care plan (a paper with words on it) “lipstick on a pig” and Obama calling McCain and his VP elect pigs with lipstick.
LoL! With ears like that, it’s a flying pig with lipstick!
You know you can fill an empty suit with s..t and no matter what’s said, it’s still an empty suit full of s..t
1. Obama meant this as a dig at Palin, and is now denying it. Sort of a par for the course lie.
2. Obama didn't realize that the right would consider "lipstick on a pig" as a swipe at Palin. If this is true, he is too stupid to be President.
If you were to reverse the partys involved, the left would have this on the front page, above the fold in every news paper across the country.
How McCain has manufactured this hit on Osama er..umm.. Obama and how underhanded.... this smear is and is just more of the usual Republican mud slinging, while ignoring that they (Dems) are covered with mud (like a pig) Wait, that is what they are doing...and they started it.
then he keeps on going and going...brings it up on letterman. Obama may or may not be sexist but he sure is stupid!
They realize that if you throw enough mud,,,
some of that mud will stick,,,
and the mud that DOES stick,,,
IS VERY, VERY HARD TO REMOVE!!
So Obama would no issue with racist saying, “put a suit on an African bushman and it doesn’t make him civilized.”
Or a second shot at Sara Baracuda... I think that Barry is over focused on Sarah.
“You can wrap an OLD fish in newspaper. but it still stinks... is a jab at McCain”
It would be more fitting as a reference to Hillary.
Obama's repeating his lipstick/pig comment, even though he's been told it's offensive.
He can't claim he's "innocent" any more.
Q: What do radical feminists, radical Islamists, Black panthers, anti-war radicals, and Barack Obama have in common?
A: They all have been comfortable calling humans "pigs."
It's apparent he's been hanging around with the anti-war radicals Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn too much.
Out-hoped
Out-changed
Out-phonied
Obama
She's playing matador, waving a cape he can't resist charging at. Obama can't catch her, but he feels compelled to try. That costs him valuable campaigning time, and weakens his appeal as a transcendent candidate for HopeChange. Obama seems focused, but he's really enraged and blinded by it. He's letting a very minor point derail his campaign, over sheer, petty stubbornness.
All the while, McCain is raking in cash, staying on target, and inching closer to victory. And looking steady, clever and presidential all the while.
(Biden, aside from harassing the handicapped in Missouri, appears to be no factor in this race at all.)
Our politics is an art of identifying the interest of one’s constituents and representing them appropriately to others to formulate a unified national policy.
Expressing the interests of a group of outraged women that they aren’t outraged is a sure bet to alienate that population. The only thing it accomplishes is to divide those who do not believe outrage exists from those who are outraged.
The Obama campaign doesn’t unify their politic, it divides at the expense of their opponent, with no true beneficial value to their proponents.
If it were a ballgame, the Obama Campaign would be poor sportsmen.
What a childish comment, what a childish defence.
B.O., you stink.
Every Woman in America knew exactly what he meant.
Pray for W, McCuda and Our Troops
