ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Reuters) Republican nominee John McCain said in an interview aired on Sunday he would bring Democrats into his Cabinet and administration as part of his attempt to change the political atmosphere in Washington.
"I don't know how many, but I can tell you, with all due respect to previous administrations, it is not going to be a single, 'Well, we have a Democrat now,"' McCain said on CBS' "Face the Nation."
"It's going to be the best people in America, the smartest people in America," he said in an interview taped on Saturday.
Both McCain and Barack Obama, his Democratic rival in the November 4 presidential election, are claiming to be the agent of change needed to fix problems in Washington.

Well of course he will.....
Lieberman....heeeelllooooo
Senator McCain, ask aRnold how that post-partisan thingy has worked... or did he get it from you?
Damn...Now I’m suffering from post-partisan depression...
This may be much ado about nothing. Probably trying to get the independents.
Zell Miller would be good for some post.
Don’t screw it up, Senator.
It is going to be a long 4 years. At least his Palin pick gives me some hope.
Doesn't that eliminate ALL the 'rats?
He’ll bring in Lieberman and confine him to a defense of American and Israel portfolio if he’s smart, and I’m beginning to think that he’s smarter than I thought.
Lieberman and Zell Miller would be two of my picks.
Oh yeah, I would also put Teddy at the ATF. He would be in charge of the Alcohol section.
W had hopes of creating a less hostile environment in DC when he first showed up. Good Luck wid dat.
Exactly. Or he is trying to enlist some democrats away from Obami.
We all know McCain is going to say things like this so we shouldn't be surprised by this or other things that will aggravate the base. McCain, just keep Palin on the ticket and back her aggressively and you have my vote.
Lieberman would make a great Secretary of State.
Also I don’t really care who runs Commerce since it runs on auto-pilot anyway.
David Brooks has pointed out that after eight years of coming and goings in the Bush White House, there aren’t an abundance of Republicans waiting in the wings to work in a McCain administration. The reality is, staffing Dems and Independents may be more than a political maneuver, it may be a necessity.

Depends on the democrat and the position I ain’t got a problem with it.
It depends on who the Democrats are and where McCain puts them. Lieberman would be a decent Secretary of State or Defense. (And the governor of Connecticut is a Republican.)
Well, the Democrat pool to draw from will be very small, and within a short time he will find them working behind the scenes to weaken his administration. They will be leaking important info to the MSM and do the nation a disservice. He needs to get the best and smartest OK, but be very, very wary of any current Democrat in Congress or the WDC bureaucracies. You betcha!!!
