Hundreds of flags that were discarded by the DNC and headed to the trash were rescued and are being given out today at the McCain-Palin Rally in CO.
It is unclear as to how the flags were discovered, some were reportedly discovered by a vendor by a dumpster. The flags were stuffed into dozens of black garbage bags and others were crammed into a supply closet awaiting disposal...Developing details...
that video of Obama not saluting the flag needs to be made an AD in the battleground states especially in VA and FL where there are many vets
Oh my goodness, I did! Thank you! Those photos are absolutely breathtaking!
You should sent these to Fox News, Brit, Bret, Megan Kelly & Bill Hemmer, Martha McCallen Hannity, too.
Those are fabulous photos and they each speak a thousand words!
Again, thank you, outstanding photographic skills, inspirational subject matter!
hope the media run with that picture along with the pictures of the flags on the floor with the rubbish
I guess that imaginary place that ‘recycles flags’ also takes care of sorting and recycling all the trash mixed in with the flags?
Is there a picture somewhere of Obama’s kids and flags on the stage floor or whatever it was that someone remembered seeing?
Being a military brat, with verteran father as well as all of my brothers, that flag means a lot to me, just as it does to all the other posters here at FR -
Yep...just like the poster child of hypocrisy, Global-Warming-private-jet-globe-trotting-blowhard-Al-Gore.
Well, if you honestly believe that saying “Most people (again, not myself or others in this forum) do throw them out eventually” can be interpreted as “I usually improperly dispose of flags,” then I guess your response of “Maybe YOU do” would have been appropriate. I don’t think that’s how most people would interpret it, however, as evidenced, I think, of your being the only one here who took it that way.
RCFlyer, did you see ROCK3T's fabulous photos taken there, too?
Y'all may be in each others photos! ;^)
Let’s see, the DNC Convention ended NINE DAYS ago. Then, they see the flags reappear today in a way that makes them (rightfully) look bad and freak out. Stinky, stinky, stinky.
I have worked on campaigns, and would imagine these flags would be retained by the Colorado Dems (probably not carted around to various states). If Obama had any brains at all he’d be saying that he would determine how this happened and taking appropriate corrective actions. But, he knows this practice is in keeping with the views of his followers and himself so he defensively knee-jerked and took the path of claiming the RNC “stole” them.
What an idiot. He could have put this to bed by at least pretending to give a sh*t!
I saw the picture but didn’t save it. The younger Obama girl had the flag upside down between her legs draped down at her feet. The older one was holding hers upright. I remarked to my mother that it was obviously past the little ones bedtime; she looked tired and out of sorts. Now if I could just come up with an excuse for her mother. ;)
Carl Cameron is talking about it again, right now on Fox. He read a statement from Obama's camp still accusing McCain's people of stealing the flags and saying the flags were being stored for other events.
McCain's people responded with how the DNC's concept of storage differs greatly from other people's concept of what storage is...that when flags are stuffed into garbage bags, mixed together with trash and thrown in and around dumpsters, most people call that discarded garbage, not unique new storage opportunities.
Watch, these Obama talking heads...that's the story they have gone with and they will angrily stick with no matter how unbelievably ludicrous it is.
Well, Obama lies again! That story was out even before McCain
had nominated his VP or had probably had even planned the
trip to Denver. Stuffed in bins on street corners is, yes, a novel
approach to storage!
I am thankful that there are patriots that will clean up
after the Marxists who stomp on our flag, our liberty and our troops!
They were in storage next to several Invesco Field dumpsters.
It is ludicrous...anyone who’s worked a convention event (I have for 20 years) could confirm this.
Once an event is over, anything left behind that’s not properly boxed and labeled, with shipping arrangements already made and relayed to convention management, is absolutely considered trash and will be treated as such by the union people who clear the floor within a matter of hours after an event closes.
I have a Chinese-made flag, still in the wrapper, that I bought when I mistook the 'Made in USA' on the display stand as referring to the contents. I haven't particularly felt like flying it, but it is a US flag and it wouldn't be right to have it destroyed when it's most likely in fine shape. I wonder what I should do with it?
It would be funny if it were not such a disrespectful thing Obama AND his bunch have done.
Well, I guess it was still pretty funny how McCain's camp responded to their charges of lies and theft with total ridicule, tinted with just a hint of disgust. EG ;/}
“I think it depends on the size of the flag. If its the size of a playing card I agree with you. Much ado about nothing. But those flags looked much larger.”
My impression of this is that they were the standard mass produced hand-held size- if they were substantially larger than that, then that’s something different all together. What I’m saying, though, for instance, is that my local minor league baseball team hands out hand-held flags to every fan every 4th of July- thousands of them. After and during the game, most of them end up in the trash or abandoned somewhere, and I’m under no delusion that almost all of the ones that do make it home get tossed out either a few days later or in some future spring cleaning purge. And I’m not talking about a bunch of Lib Dems here- I’m talking about family-oriented baseball fans in a very Republican state. I think this is pretty typical of what happens to most of these flags after events like that.
“I agree with you to a certain extent that some of this is demagoguery but so be it. The ends justifies the means and any means necessary is OK by me to defeat liberals.”
I certainly agree with that- we all have to do what we have to do in order to win this thing- I just question whether this particular form of demagoguery is as effective as others could be, or if it could even be received negatively by those in the middle who have done the same thing themselves in the past.
McCain supporters said the flags were discovered by a vendor at Denvers Invesco Field after the conclusion of the Democratic National Convention. The vendor supposedly found trash bags full of flags in and near garbage bins, and turned them over to the McCain campaign.
