After a segment with NBC's Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live mic ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.
"It's over," said Noonan, and then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.
"The most qualified? No. I think they wen tfor this-- excuse me -- political bullshit about narratives," she said. "Everytime Republicans do that -- because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at and they blow it."
Murphy chimed in:
"The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical."
In today's Wall Street Journal, Noonan was warmer to Palin, whom she wrote "could become a transformative political presence."
"The Sarah Palin choice is really going to work, or really not going to work," Noonan wrote. "It's not going to be a little successful or a little not; it's not going to be a wash. She is either going to be magic or one of history's accidents. She is either going to be brilliant and groundbreaking, or will soon be the target of unattributed quotes by bitter staffers shifting blame in all the Making of the President 2008 books."
Since filing, Noonan has apparently decided which side this one is coming down on.
Reluctant to critize her myself. People socked it to me the last time I criticized Peggy Noonan.
So you really think Jesse Jackson wanted the public (including the Secret Service) to hear him threatening to sever a body part from a presidential candidate?
Peggy - nice move dumb@ss.
Time to find a new career.
At least she didn’t say she wanted to cut her nuts off!
Ooops Jessie already said that!!!
There sure seems to be a problem with live mics!!! and angry Lefties!!
ECHO echo CHAMBER chamber
LOL, what other “Republicans” would the DNC channel have on to do commentary.
Amen.
WOW same MSM that give Obama a pass on his terrorist ties to ayers, his Live Birth Abortion stand, His Terrible judgement sitting in a radical church for 20 years listening to hate whitey speech, his poor treatment of his family members, His radical islamic upbringing, His Grandma who nobody ever hears from and is most liekly the best judge of his character, No official birth certificate, Wife hates America, so lets pick on the mother of 5 one a handicapped child and dig as much dirt as we can to try and get McCain to drop her from the ticket ensuring his Defeat in NOV....
Expose the left before its too late for all of us.
S0000 Peggy N00an as usual.
I’m a little surprised that Murphy doesn’t know what McCain is doing, but I’m not surprised at Noonan. She’s not in the Campaign, and she’s new, and she didn’t come in with the old Reagan and Bush I crowd that Peggy did, so she’s not going to understand where McCain is coming from. Nor will she agree.
What’s going on is that Palin has the chance to surprise everyone. Given the fact that EVERYONE is underestimating her, Sarah has no place to go but up.
Best,
Chris

Peggy, I’ve enjoyed so many of your words over the years.
Now, I realize you are fast approaching senility.
Peggy Noonan has outed herself as country clubber Republican who leeched off of Reagan.
She is part of the whole GOP establishment that sold out Livingston, Gingrich, and Lott.
These people make me sick and I hope more out themselves like this...Peggy, we hardly knew ye.
Good riddance.
Wow, that was uncomfortable. It makes me wonder how many people that do politics for a living don’t really believe in what they are doing. Maybe she was just mad that her friend KBHutchinson did not get the call.
Might I suggest "The Sisters of Perpetual Outrage"?
Peggy Noonan fails to see the ideological appeal of the Palin nomination, because this appeal does not apply to her. Since she does not recognize the ideological content, she assumes that it must be an empty symbolic gesture. But the rest of us see the ideological import quite clearly.
And that little area between their ears.
She's not got a great slugging average.
Nonetheless, she is an excellent writer. I wish she were as willing to critique Obama's inexperience.
It fascinates me that apparently average Americans are answering pollsters that they will indeed support Obama. I'm fascinated by the process by which Americans make up their minds on these things.
Is it just basic consumer behavior or is there something different about what respondents tell pollsters during telephone calls? In other words, is Obama doing a better job of selling his wares door-to-door, or is that "Who do you support for President" question one that short-circuits normal decision-making processes?
Noonan’s continued popularity is predicated on maintaining her credentials as a Reaganite while productively selling out her side to the liberal MSM. She is doing the same thing with Palin. She equivocates to make it seem as if she empathizes with conservatives.
If she were being treated in this way, she would be blowing a gasket like Ferraro and others.
