Palin Deflates Obama’s Bounce
Washington Independent ^ | 09/01/08 | Ari Melber

Presidential nominees typically get a bounce out of successful conventions, and Sen. Barack Obama’s performance was a hit by any metric. (More on that later.) After a busy weekend, however, national polling shows that Obama got no bounce at all.

I thought it was one of those “white trash Jerry Springer” jokes.

Well, it kind of was, but being white trash myself I felt like I was on solid ground. I have always thought the GOP should go after us trailer park types a little more aggressively.

For some reason the story has not been posted on FR. I am a big fan of unwed teenage mothers, being one myself many years ago. My oldest son was born while I was living at a home for unwed mothers run by the Salvation Army. My story had a very happy ending.

Actually the story has been posted at least twice on FR, before this post. I apologize to you, I made a remark about you in a post to Ohio conservative and I regret it. I guess I should look before I leap sometimes. I do not believe this will hurt Palin in any way and will make the Kos idiots look really stupid with their theory about Sarah covering for her daughters baby.

I think if the media keeps on digging up these things on Sarah’s family it will backfire and people will rally to support her

That is what I'm thinking. Geez, we all have stuff like this in our families. My son is now a 34 year old college grad living the American Dream. To think his life started at a Salvation Army group home. I think most people who will be voting identify with this story more than being a Harvard grad community organizer.

How many liberals kill abort their babies secretly. This family would never or Bristol abort this baby...they aren’t killers. Young people make mistakes this baby will be welcomed with open arms by this family and right thinking Americans. At least, this baby will become an American, will one day vote and have a full life. As the left’s babies are killed and never have a chance to become Americans or vote or have a full life.

Thats okay. I think we get full of coffee and come out swinging because these sites invite a vigorous exchange of ideas. Plus I'm a lousy typist and do not always completely explain myself. I'm a tough old hag and I have extreme confidence in my beliefs so I don't get hurt easily. Now we have met and I think we will be friends.

I did not know her daughter's name was Bristol.

Needless to say, your link title caused a momentary, "What the ....??"

I like this lady more every day.

She even gives her kids cool names!

“Bottom line, it changes nothing about Palin, it doesn’t reflect on the things she has accomplished and her skills”

Go on offense... don’t ever play defense!

They can’t touch our Sarah ‘barracuda’!

I wonder if “O” will accuse Sarah of letting her daughter be punished with this child.

Me too. I don't know if I want to vote for her or invite her over for a BBQ. Of course I want to do both, but will probably only have an opportunity to do one.

I think she should challenge Obama to a 'Bowl Off'. I know Palin can break a 37.

If Sarah Palin were a Democrat, the media would be praising her for her support of her daughter and for not casting out of the house. All the same publications that praised Jamie Lynn Spears for her teenage pregnancy would be running highly postive profiles of Bristol and the father of the child.

But Palin is a Republican. That changes everything. The media, the Obama/Biden camp and all them are stratagizing right now, that’s why we haven’t heard from them yet. But we will. We’ll hear things like “some family values the Palin’s have” and “why didn’t she us a condom?” Things like that. Don’t even be surprised if they call her a slut or a whore. It’s going to be terrible.

As much as I’d like for Sarah Palin to stay on the ticket, I think for the protection of her daughter she should take herself out of the race. It’s going to be awful what the media and the leftist are going to do to that girl.

Stories like yours is why I regularly give to the Salvation Army.

I wish the government would let me keep more of my money. The SA would get it.

That would be a terrible move for all involved. First of all, how would you like to be the person who robbed the GOP of the first female POTUS? That is where a GOP victory this fall will eventually lead Palin. I doubt Bristol will be any better off by feeling like her behavior took her mother off the ticket.Secondly, if Bristol acts ashamed the media will pile on. If Bristol acts proud of handling her situation as best she can the press won't be able to touch her.

Her daughter will be much better off if everyone involved, including us, hold our heads high. I say this as a person who was a 16 year old unwed mother. It is not Palin's job to 'take care of' her daughter. Her daughter is a grown woman now who will have to demonstrate that she can take care of herself.

This was in 1974, the year after abortion was legalized. I was only 15 when I became pregnant (16 by the time my son was born) in what would now be called a date rape. I kept my pregnancy a secret until I was well into my second trimester so I could not be forced into an abortion.

I eventually ran away from home and was taken in by the Booth Memorial Home ran by the Salvation Army.I did not qualify for welfare since my parents were middle class (rules were different back then) so the Salvation Army received no government money for me. They required me to attend school in the morning so I could get my GED, then in the afternoon I worked in their daycare center. At night I had to work in the kitchen. I also was supervised with my newborn and had to take parenting classes.

After I left the Salvation Army I went and lived with my grandmother and eventually completed a vocational nursing program. When I met my future husband he did not see me as an unwed mother. He saw me as a 21 year old with a five year son who had made the most of a difficult situation. I had a great county job, new car, and a nice apartment. We fell in love, married and had 2 more children. I always knew my life would work out and I have always loved my life but let me just say I never dreamed it would be this good. Bristol will be just fine.

In Monroe, Mich., Democrat Obama condemned rumors involving the children of candidates and echoed the McCain campaign argument. He said, "I think people's families are off limits, and people's children are especially off limits."
"Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be," he said. "And if I ever thought that there was somebody in my campaign that was involved in something like that, they'd be fired."

I read on a different thread that on the KOS blog, the person who was pushing the original rumor of Bristol being the real mother of Trig, is someone who claimed to be part of Obama's campaign. Let's see if anyone actually gets fired over this. I, for one, won't be holding my breath. But if this is true, it would be nice to be able to connect his campaign to this, so that folks can know just how despicable this man truly is, in his Chicago way of politics.

Well, as much as I like little would-be-dictators that want to destroy what’s left of our country I have a better idea...

Lets take Obama out of the race!

THIS IS WAR!

DEFEAT IS NOT AN OPTION!

By that standard, no Republican with children can run for elected office since the dems would also savage their children if that’s what it takes to win.
