Palin Deflates Obama’s Bounce
Washington Independent ^ | 09/01/08 | Ari Melber

Presidential nominees typically get a bounce out of successful conventions, and Sen. Barack Obama’s performance was a hit by any metric. (More on that later.) After a busy weekend, however, national polling shows that Obama got no bounce at all.

Keating Holland explains that there were two bounces — or maybe none: The convention, and particularly Obama’s speech, seems to be well-received. And the selection of Sarah Palin as the GOP running mate also seems to be well-received. So why is the race still a virtual tie? Probably because the two events created equal and opposite bounces assuming that either one created a bounce at all.

I think you would have to have an advanced degree in economics or political science to understand that comment, let alone write it. I look forward to the first time joe Biden uses it and says he wrote it.

His surrogates have already started playing the “Jew” card.

Is Palin’s daughter planing on running for Vice President in the near future?

No, but it shouldn’t hurt either. In effect, a non-issue.

I was pregnant several times. The joy and wonder still makes me smile to think about it.

“Probably because the two events created equal and opposite bounces”

Don’t need a degree.

It’s a mathematical ‘0’ for Obama any way you figure it — and the rats know it!

IT'S BRISTOL'S BABY!!! LOL!

I think some people might be getting a little defensive about this. Bristol is an unmarried pregnant teen. I think it makes the rumor mongers claiming Trig is really Bristol's baby look a bit foolish. It doesn't necessarily hurt Palin, even though the GOP is the family values ticket. I think a lot will depend on who the father is. If the father is a single young man this actually might contribute to the very likable image of the Palin Family as a normal American family. If the father is a married man or a criminal then it will start to take a toll on Palin's popularity.

BTW, for those of you angry at me thinking I am criticizing Palin I am actually just telling you what everyone else following the story knows. For some reason the story has not been posted on FR. I am a big fan of unwed teenage mothers, being one myself many years ago. My oldest son was born while I was living at a home for unwed mothers run by the Salvation Army. My story had a very happy ending.

You must not be a NASCAR fan! I am! I'm a "hugh and series" fan! Our battle cry on Bristol weekends is,

IT'S BRISTOL BABY!!!

I was just making a play on that!

Don't worry about the idiots like Zevonismymuse who didn't want her picked in the first place. They are as bad as the democrats. Her daughter being pregnant won't make a difference and I am sure the polls will reflect that. If anything this is going to make Obama look even more of an anti-abortion freak in regards to his statement about not wanting his daughers "punished" with a baby. In contrast Sarah's daughter is having her baby. Stuff happens, we do our best and kids do what they want. She is not the first 17 yo to get pregnant out of wedlock and certainly won't be the last.

Bottom line, it changes nothing about Palin, it doesn't reflect on the things she has accomplished and her skills, which are formidable. Go McCain/Palin 2008, you still have my vote!

From what I understand, the young man and Bristol are engaged. She has a ring on her finger.

I thought your comment was funny.

I think if the media keeps on digging up these things on Sarah’s family it will backfire and people will rally to support her (like Bubba during impeachment - his approval ratings went up. I’m not saying the two circumstances are the same I am saying if the public thinks someone is being ganged up on it may increase support).
