ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Why not? Palin's core philosophy and judgment are sound. I would not get too carried away with media pronouncements of her nonconservatism. OTOH, I share your doubts about McCain and only sent money reluctantly (before and after Palin). But there enough signs that Palin is rock solid on key issues like life and the 2nd amendment which I would consider ahead of shamnesty and others.
I’m hoping they got to Bristol (and the other kids, if it’s an issue) to get her to pull her myspace and get rid of any pics. But I guess these days it’s hard to get everything out of cyberspace. Stupid, stupid kids.
Teens everywhere should be mad at Bristol—they are going to be getting talks about all this for a very long time . . .
Excuse me, but most adults who have their first baby are not prepared for what lies ahead. Their family will love and support them until they can support themselves.
Sarah Palin considers her private life just that. Private. She even hid her own pregnancy untill she couldn’t anymore. Maybe she thought it wasn’t anybodys business. Why on earth did we need to know at all??
I don’t have an agenda here. I do think McCain cannot be trusted. That’s all.
Your reply was sarcastic, but I would guess that it was true accidentally. Teenagers who abuse alcohol are at a higher risk of pregnancy. I am not blaming her mother or father. Kids party, get drunk, get pregnant. This is not exactly a new sport here. What I am fussing about is the lack of vetting. If McCain threw the name out a month ago, as on the short list, stories like these would have dribbled out. McCain at that point could have based his choice on his vetting, a media vetting, and the public's reaction.
McCain decided to throw a bomb. Sarah Palin is an incredibly talented politician. She also is experiencing the MSM for the first time, and her family are collateral damage.
If true, thoughts that come to mind are:
When?
How did they save their marriage? That is the main issue. They survived it, while others crash and burn.
There are a number of types of infidelities:
1. Accidental: real, although derisively dismissed. (rip roaring drunk at the office party and end up in the closet with someone.)
2. Out-the-door: no attachment to the other infidel; they are simply a tool used to send message to your spouse that you are “by God outta here.”
3. Emotional: new romantic involvement seen that way by both infidels.
4. Abusive: a pattern of emotional/verbal abuse, infidelity being another form.
5. Opportunistic/immature: immature reactivity to an opportunity that presents itself. No real emotional attachment.
6. Addictive: a sexual addict
Absolutely not. But he picked a conservative with which to appease conservatives. She is solid conservative, her personal matters only show her to be even more conservative. Is that enough for me? Yes. Is it enough for you? If not, what is your alternative?
If you have graduated from hs, you have a job, preferably so that the mother can stay home for a while, if you have lived even a bit on your own, you are better prepared to raise a child.
We have to stop being so pc that any kind of family is okay. A stable, mature, married heterosexual couple is best. If you can find that through adoption for your baby, so much the better.
Why is adoption so bad?
And IF that is true, let me tell you some of the things I'd judge you very harshly for:
1. Furnishing your with kids soda pop and juice and too many sweets instead of water or milk and healthy foods. I see way too many fat kids who are fat because their parents are stupid. I judge a parent harshly who has raised their children to drink soda regularly; it should be a treat.
2. Not teaching your kids to read before they get to kindergarten. If you didn't do that, you're a crappy parent, in my view.
3. Having a television with cable and letting your kids watch TV more than an hour or two a day. I absolutely think that parents who give their kids unlimited access to TV or the internet, for that matter, are behaving very irresponsibly; I think the best moral character would be the family that READS BOOKS.
Of course, IT'S NONE OF MY BUSINESS if people choose to give their kids more or less soda pop than I like, don't teach them to read before they get to kindergarten, and have cable TV in the house, and I'd be a REAL JACKASS if I started presuming to push my nose into their private lives and pronouncing publicly my disapproval of that family (as opposed to families in general) doing those things. But YOU, dark-and-cloudy (I would hardly call you a "sunny" person) Florida, must think that I would be perfectly justified in doing so becuase YOU think YOU'RE perfectly justified in learning all about the private family drama of the Palins and then expressing your opinion on those choices loudly, clearly, and with zero respect for the family's privacy or dignity.
You really give Republicans a bad name.
You are right, J.S. McCain was not about to hand us somebody without issues. Maybe to divert from his own adultery or Cindy that were bound to become issues after the John Edwards scandal.
I have already heard some things that might come up re her wanting Alaska's independence similar to Kosovo. Of course, people can and do change their minds . . .
So...Barrack HUSSEIN Obama hangs out with domestic terrorists, has ZERO experience other than being a commie organizer in the Saul Alinsky mode, has an extremely shady political past (and present), has direct financial ties to international communist George Soros, has an idiot blowhard for a VP running mate, and fronts the largest subversive political party in the US...and that’s OK.
But the Republican Governor VP-candidate has a pregnant daughter....Now THAT’S big news.
Oh...makes sense to me...I guess...kinda sorta....maybe..

“I think shes a lousy parent, but many good politicians have been lousy parents.”
I think I have the context about right. I think you’re trying to Bork Palin because you think she might be for open borders. I think this is just a political football. If you’re concerned about open borders, I can respect that. But I don’t respect these cheap shots at Palin.
Statistics on all divorce is high. You are striking them down because of their age. There are many many adults who have no business getting married and having kids. Not fair for you to lump them in the “fail” group.
Lucky for them, your opinion has no bearing on their decision.
“Palin ACKNOWLEDGES her 17 year old daughter is pregnant”.
Better Title. Sheesh. The whole State of Alaska
knew. But of course it isn’t news until the MSM
says it’s news. Right?
W ... R ... O ... N ... G... !
No kidding. But you cannot sit there and tell me a child would rather grow up in an adoptive loving family than their blood loving family.
All families have up and downs. That’s life.
