Is McCain Throwing The Election? (By Michael Savage)
michaelsavage.com ^ | August 29, 2008 | Michael Savage (Michael Alan Wiener)

Posted on 08/29/2008 5:56:41 PM PDT by Checkers

McCain has thrown the election. It is clear now with his choice for Vice President that he has no desire to win in November. Why else would he chose an inexperienced woman, whose only apparent qualification is that she won a beauty pageant in the 1980s? Why else would he refuse to say Barack Hussein Obama’s middle name? Why else would he run an ad praising Obama and congratulating him for winning the nomination?

If McCain had chosen Mitt Romney, a man with real leadership ability, real charisma, and real experience, he might have stood a chance. He could have made up for his lack of energy in confronting his opponent, his useless pandering to liberals, and his refusal to expose Obama’s leftism and inexperience. Instead he trumped inexperience with more inexperience. Obama, for all his far-left socialism, picked a running mate who is perceived as giving the ticket more experience. McCain, in defiance of all logic, undermined his strong suit by selecting a political neophyte who waters down his key advantage over Obama.

Of course, I can hear the calls already. Mike, you should give her a chance, she’s a real conservative. Mike, he’s just doing this because he knows he has to pander to win. Mike, isn’t it great that he picked a woman. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Picking someone because of their sex instead of their ability is the same kind of affirmative action insanity that the Democrats have shoved down our throats. We don’t want a panderer, we want a president. If he had chosen a woman who was a real nationalist with a real resume, I would have said, “Right on, John.” But McCain has dropped the ball, thrown in the towel, and raised the white flag. And a generation of Americans will pay for his

FR, IMO, will allow honest debate over McCain's positions. Will fight him when he is wrong with conservatism.

I hope you are right. It sure didn't seem that way during the Bush admin.

And we will attack with bared fangs those who seek to trash Sarah Palin with false rumors...

I think false rumors about anyone should be opposed, not just Palin.

Palin has questioned whether global warming is caused by humans.

While at the same time launching a climate team that includes looking at "mitigation" measures. I don't say this to trash her, in any way. I just hope that the skeptic in her remains stronger than the forces that will try to convince her otherwise.

She is agressively seeking to exploit Alaska's oil and gas potential. While not giving government handouts for oil companies to build pipelines.

I support and admire that.

There are some nut-cases even on the right.

Buchanan and Savage are perfect examples. When they are right they are very right and when they are wrong they are in outer space.

What a dumb comment.

Alaska is clearly experiencing warming. Palin has noted that there is no evidence that the warming is human-caused. But she also has to deal with the reality that the climate in Alaska has changed significantly over the last couple of decades.

As it does...every couple of decades or so.

It’s gone a bit further than that (e.g. “curbing emissions”).

I was a Romney supporter as well, and, like you, campaigned for him in Northern Nevada. While disapointed that my man Mitt wasn’t selected, I, too, am delighted with Sarah Palin as the choice for VP. I think it spoke highly of the genius of McCain’s campain advisor.

I’m sure most of Mitt Romney’s supporters, while disapointed thier candidate wasn’t chosen, are nonetheless happy with the Palin pick.

What makes things troubling for me is not that Mitt wasn’t picked, but the continued hostility and utter disrespect a few other fellow freepers (not many, just a few - ya’ll know who they are) who think it’s okay to continually malign fellow conservatives just because they happened to have supported a McCain/Romney candidacy. There hasn’t been a lot of replies to thier obvious attempts to start a spat because, frankly, what’s the point? High school is OVER.

Mitt Romney has shown a tremendous amount of grace and party loyalty in spite of being picked over, and instead of “burying the hatchet”, a few freepers continue with thier disrespectful rants (which reveal more about them and thier issues, as most people will no doubt attest to).

For the record, this Romney supporter is thrilled with McCain’s choice. He made a wise choice for the benefit of the party and the country.

I totally relate to Sarah Palin because I am a mom of 5 (one with special needs), and my “career” is as a grassroots political activist and president of a non-profit. I’m a reagan republican who is grateful for ALL the candidates who ran on the Republican ticket. Each one had experience, gifts and abilities that were miles ahead of any of the Democratic hopefuls. I happened to think that Mitt was the best of the bunch, but that was my opinion. This is a free country, I’m still entitled to it. I don’t feel the need to be hostile to fellow freepers/conservatives because they came to a different conclusion. A lively debate is one thing, but outright hostility? We’re on the same team, remember?

it’s not just about executive experience. There are many governors -even very conservative ones- who are buddy buddy with the big boys with the big bucks.

What Mccain is looking for is someone who would go against both parties and other established interests. How can you not be impressed by someone who can take on Ted Stevens??

Agreed. And frankly it's hightime the Republican's had a woman or a black on the highest ticket. It would be pandering if she had no accomplishments and was a bland politician who stood for and accomplished absolutely nothing.

I do think, however, Mitt would also have been a good choice.

I must say well done, Checkers, you are truly in your element when you are fomenting hate and negativity against a true American patriot like Savage. I see you gathered most of the usual Savage-hating suspects and then some with your latest anti-Savage foray. However I figured I'd wait until all the emotional pro-Palin euphoria or hysteria, I'm not sure which, died down before I made any comment if I were to make any at all, you know how hard it is to reason with people who over-react with their emotions.

At least FOR ONCE you're able to quote Savage's words exactly as he says them, not that it matters very few of those who posted on this thread actually addressed the points that he was trying to make or WHY he was making them, it's easier to just badmouth him especially when the current seems to be in that general direction anyway.

I find it strange that there seemed to be a lot of Romney backers for VP before the Palin pick yet they all seemed to have disappeared. I can't imagine that they ALL feel that this Palin pick is just as good as a Romney pick as both Savage and I feel that the ticket would've been a stronger one with a man with the experience and acumen and name recognition, yes maybe with a little baggage too, that Romney brought to the table versus a relative unknown, unproven, untested, seemingly PC-annointed woman. So I'm just gonna assume that many of the posters on this thread weren't overly thrilled with Romney in the first place.

Now if anybody bothered to read the Savage 'opinion' piece rather than let whatever bias they have about Savage send them into some instantaneous epileptic frenzy the minute they see the name SAVAGE, they'd see that Savage felt a McCain-Romney ticket would've been a slam dunk into the White House for the Republicans, as did a lot of Freepers. For all his problems with McCain and the Rino infested GOP, Savage still understood the ramifications of a Marxist like Obama getting in and I can understand his angst and his frustration if he truly feels McCain has blown it with this pick. Maybe now instead of a sure slam dunk for the GOP the race will stay a neck and neck one which should make all of us nervous and uncomfortable, only time will tell.

This thread only confirms to me that despite whatever side of the aisle people belong to, how easy it is to stir up a Salem like verbal witch hunt against someone and merely exposes a slimey, grimey, dark, underbelly of Freeper-dom where people feel free to hate and smear and call names as long as they're on the supposed 'Right' side. For all Savage's faults and I don't feel there are many, I for one am still glad he's out there everyday, putting his life and limb on the line against the powerful interests of the Marxist liberals, the Islamists, the radical homosexual lobby, the La Raza illegals, and against ALL like-minded enemies of the Republic within and without who are actively working to bring it down. We can only hope that a McCain-Palin ticket would do half as much. Sincerely,

Happy Labor Day All!

...the La Raza illegals...

Wasn't McCain at their convention this summer, pandering to them like the POS Obama?

I'm not on this thread for the Savage article; I'm on here to chat with some other Freepers (starting at post 100).

Since when were Freepers ever bothered by "reading the whole thing."

I'm not putting my dog into this fight. I will say this: During the 2000 election vote fraud fight I was a new listener to Savage. I carried a protest sign with Savage's words, "Al Gore. Have You No Shame?" It was VERY effective and I received a lot of comments on it.

That was also the election when I became a committed Republican. I was a registered Republican, but an "open-minded" one (aka idiot). I could never support the agenda of Jerry Brown.

I truly felt this last week that McCain would pick Romney. It was the safe pick. It made sense. But Mac knew what he was doing, and I'm so glad he did.

May I remind you of the title of this thread, “Is McCain Throwing The Election? (By Michael Savage)”

Now look at just a few of the Palin stories from the last 2 days reported here on FR, AFTER Savage said what he said -

***************************************************

With Palin On the Ticket, Evangelicals Are Energized.

New Poll shows no convention bounce for Obama

Let Palin Be Palin (Why the left is scared to death...)

“Our Little Barracuda”

The Palin effect: crowd size

CNN Poll: Obama 49, McCain 48

O’Fallon crowd cheers McCain, Palin

Dave Barry: Republicans’ turn to Sparkle

OBAMA 49, MCCAIN 48! (CONVENTION BUST!)

Ferraro Happy About Palin, Won't Reveal for Whom She's Voting

Palin? Perfect (Gov. Sarah Palin GETS THINGS DONE - OIL!)

Social conservatives hail McCain’s choice

**************************************************
Now tell me, Do you still think Savage was right about McCain throwing the election?

both Savage and I feel that the ticket would've been a stronger one with a man with the experience and acumen

One (quite lousy) term as Governor? LMAO. His experience is just 4 years as guv, with less total time in government than her. His acumen is nonexistent.

A better bet for both of those traits would be Mark Sanford. If just the first trait then how about Joe Biden, never mind it was a bad "experience" for his constituents, same as Romney's.

and name recognition

That he paid for. Irrelevant. Once picked the VP choice gets name recognition. A fresh can be good. It's certainly preferable to a PO crap.

I find it strange that there seemed to be a lot of Romney backers for VP before the Palin pick yet they all seemed to have disappeared

Most I suspect realize, unlike you that since the pick has been made there is no longer a need to p**p Romney. You know when there were hardly any Romneybots? Back when he was running for President. I wonder why so many have so aggressively pushing him for VP, because Coulter and Hannity and Savage like him? that Savage felt a McCain-Romney ticket would've been a slam dunk into the White House for the Republicans, as did a lot of Freepers.

What foolish sentiment. Nothing would make this a "slam dunk". Certainly not a poor candidate like Romney that couldn't even beat McCain and Mike Duckapee.

And qualifications aside (and I think she has enough, I'd take her over McCain/Mitt/Huckaduck right now Judgment > time in ofiice) she is certainly a good candidate that adds to the ticket. The segment of voters who won't vote McCain cause they feel Palin is unqualified will be a negligible number (smaller certainly than the Mormon hater vote) and she will help with the female vote.

Your post made me laugh (in a good way), you know I never could understand the Savage donation to Jerry Brown as he has never fully explained it. Many use that as a means to tar and feather him as a fake conservative, yet Savage has donated to Lt Patano when he got into trouble, he also put all his weight behind the defense of the Pendelton 8 and then the Hadita Marines devoting radio time while helping collect donations for Lt. Col Chessani, and more recently added donations and support and attention to the Nazario Marine case and just recently gave donations to a Hispanic wife and mother and now widow and childless who lost her family to an illegal gang murder, there's others I just can't remember them all.

I don't think a 'fake' conservative could be bothered with these causes much less bring attention to these injustices to a vast conservative audience on their radio program, not shabby I guess for being a fake conservative, huh?
