Fred is a great conservative and I supported him while he was running for President. Having said that I also know he has the initiative of a mushroom.
I guarantee that this is somebody elses “endeavor” and Fred is simply on board to give it gravitas. Our friend Fred won't do any heavy lifting.

Could you have imagined a Thompson/Palin ticket?
Maybe Fred is getting tapped for a high post within a potential McCain administration,like AG or something. That or he’s starting up some sort of federalist PAC.
