A California woman is crying gender discrimination after she claims she was forced to strip off her bra and walk through airport security without support after being busted when the underwires in her lingerie set off a metal detector.
The brassiere boondoggle took place Sunday morning at Oakland International Airport as Nancy Kates, a 45-year-old documentary filmmaker who grew up in Lexington, was going through security on her way to Boston.
“I felt I was being treated like a criminal,” said the Harvard-educated Kates, who was headed to Massachusetts to see her mother and vacation on the Cape.

What happened to feminists who insisted that going bra-less was “liberating” (no matter how obviously one needed a bra)? I guess the bra-burning crowd must be mostly in nursing homes by now, but they must be scratching their heads hard over this one.
Photos of Ms. Kates reveal that she needs to lose a few dozen pounds. She’d be healthier and wouldn’t need to regard a couple of minutes without a bra as a major imposition.
I suppose you'd stillk feel that way if you were flagged for wearing a metal cup athletic supporter.
