McCain appears set to name Palin as running mate (FR exclusive analysis)
August 29, 2008 | xjcsa

Posted on 08/29/2008 5:08:06 AM PDT by xjcsa

Based on a couple of key pieces of evidence uncovered by others (h/t to Truthseeker at Draft Sarah Palin), it appears nearly certain that John McCain is set to announce Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. This evidence has also been noted by Kathryn Jean Lopez at the Corner and in a few posts here on FR, although I have not seen both pieces noted together.

So what's this evidence? Flight tracking information from two separate chartered flights.

One of these flights started in Anchorage and flew nonstop to Hook Field Municipal Airport (MWO) in Middletown, Ohio, less than 30 miles from where McCain is to make his first appearance with his running mate. The other airplane also started in Anchorage two days ago, but flew first to Flagstaff, Arizona (near McCain's home in Sedona), and then on to the same airport in Middletown, Ohio (with fuel stops along the way in Seattle and Amarillo).

This is too much for coincidence - it appears certain that Sarah Palin and her family were flown separately to Ohio for the big event. Most likely Palin was on the flight that stopped overnight in Flagstaff and her family was flown on the nonstop flight yesterday.

It's not 100%, but I'd call it something like 98% - Sarah Palin appears to be the pick.

Dear sitetest-

I smoked enough pot in my youth for the both of us.

So, it's YOUR FAULT that the price of a quarter bag shot up so much in the late 80s!

And babies aren’t going to die if they’re not breast fed. It’s this thing called “formula,” and men have even been known to master the technique of feeding it to infants. Imagine that!

Breastmilk has a lot of stuff in it that isn't replicated by formula fyi, and, in addition, the physical act of breastfeeding provides muscle activities that are especially beneficial to all babies, and especially those with downs syndrome.

But I see that you are determined to make this concern some people have about Sarah Palin be about you. It's really not, and your technique of calling anyone who voices it a sexist, isn't doing much to win anyone to your side. That part of this discussion is your issue, and I'm not going to address it further.

The questions raised here about her young children are going to be raised by conservative women all over America. You've shown us one way to attack it, but it lacks a certain finesse. It's a weakness that you can be sure that the Odrama people will exploit, and I hope the McCain people have thought of a better way to address it than you have.

I didn’t say breast milk wasn’t better for babies. I know it is. I said that babies won’t die if they’re fed formula. They won’t.

Take “female” out of the equation. To me, Palin in the BEST choice McCain could have made for conservatives. This is a day we should be celebrating, not having stupid arguments about the pro and cons of breast feeding.

So, for once, let’s just enjoy ourselves, watch the RATS blather about how bad a choice this is (which means it’s a great choice, of course) and celebrate that McCain seems to have finally done SOMETHING that doesn’t collectively piss us off.

near the bottom of his class, poor pilot

First, he was at the bottom of his class for disciplinary reasons, not academic ones. So was Grant. Rickover, though brilliant, suffered in class standing for similar reasons.

Poor pilots don't land an A4 on a carrier deck even once.

Dear wagglebee,

“I simply don’t think it’s that big a deal if someone experimented with pot 20 or so years ago.”

Absolutely.

I couldn't care less.

Actually, I think fathers are quite capable of raising children, but you’ll find a number of people on FR who not only think two parents should be involved (I agree), but also think the mother NEEDS to be the primary caregiver.

Liberals are already doing the ‘only picked because she’s a woman’ crap. It WILL back fire and further push PUMAs to McCain. Liberals are just stupid as hell.

Sarah Palin is 100%+ pro-life (she recently refused to diagnose her Downs Syndrome baby even though doctors advised it) and while I realize that isn’t important to you, it is important to A LOT of voters and if voters DEMAND a pro-choice candidate the ‘Rats will be happy to oblige.

The other big thing is that she is a “regular American” with a regular family and that means that she “gets it” when talking to real Americans. There really hasn’t been a candidate like this from either party in generations.

Why is CNBC even on the air? I believe that if you are opposed to the “conventional wisdom” of the mainstream media, you are probably on the right track at least 95% of the time.

It’s a simple fact that within a certain age group (I’m not sure exactly where it starts and ends), quite a high percentage at least tried pot. It was an era where, honestly, most people, including many who didn’t try it, saw nothing wrong with it. And the VAST majority of those people grew up to become decent, contributing folk.

BTTT for pro-life issues and marriage between a man and a woman issues!

God bless her and all her five children, including the Down’s Syndrome child.

McCain is a maverick — I knew it would not be any of the old Romneyesque people.

BTTT!

YIKES! As a full time working mother of five children (all grown, established and conservative), I think you are off your rocker.

Hey mods, the research on this has proven correct, and it was the 1st thread that announced Sarah Palin.

As an FR exclusive, it deserves the lead at the top of breaking news.

JMHO

Pathetic comment. But, I guess that is the best you can come up with without a teleprompter.

The Audacity of Bull Shiit

What a wonderful ending to the Democratic Convention

Her nickname stated while in basketball as a point guard that took her team to championships. Sarah the Barracuda

If Gov. Palin has more than 143 days of Executive Experience. She is more ready (on day one) to take over as President, than the top of the Democratic Titanic Ticket, ObamaBiden.

Lots of dem women are saying....It’s MY VOTE. It didn’t count in January, but it sure as HELL will count now.

Popular opinion doesn’t change the facts and POW alone time doesn’t make anyone qualified for higher office.

Having McCain as the GOP candidate shows that the GOP is truly mentally ill as a group and as individuals.

Let’s see...they guy who engineered the demise of the GOP majority is now the GOP candidate?

Yeah, right. But they did it.
