Based on a couple of key pieces of evidence uncovered by others (h/t to Truthseeker at Draft Sarah Palin), it appears nearly certain that John McCain is set to announce Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. This evidence has also been noted by Kathryn Jean Lopez at the Corner and in a few posts here on FR, although I have not seen both pieces noted together.
So what's this evidence? Flight tracking information from two separate chartered flights.
One of these flights started in Anchorage and flew nonstop to Hook Field Municipal Airport (MWO) in Middletown, Ohio, less than 30 miles from where McCain is to make his first appearance with his running mate. The other airplane also started in Anchorage two days ago, but flew first to Flagstaff, Arizona (near McCain's home in Sedona), and then on to the same airport in Middletown, Ohio (with fuel stops along the way in Seattle and Amarillo).
This is too much for coincidence - it appears certain that Sarah Palin and her family were flown separately to Ohio for the big event. Most likely Palin was on the flight that stopped overnight in Flagstaff and her family was flown on the nonstop flight yesterday.
It's not 100%, but I'd call it something like 98% - Sarah Palin appears to be the pick.
Way to go!!!!!!
I don’t believe it.
I was sure it was Pawlenty last night. Thats been put down.
I am skeptical.
I think Romney will be the pick. Drats!
I’m taking a day off and will be waiting for the text- message announcement...
It makes sense.
It is hard to believe that two private charters would go from Anchorage to Middletown with one going to Arizona first.
The second plane was a G-IV which would certainly fit Palin’s family (they would not all fit comfortable in the Lear 35).
Romney OUT!!

>>She would make it kind of hard for us to push the Obama isnt ready to be President angle.
We elect PRESIDENTS, not VP’s, as in the early days of the republic. She will be very effective in disarming the Bloviator Biden. Just wait for the question on abortion.
Palin is my first choice for VP, Romney second. I will be ticked if it’s Huckaphoney or Goober.
There’s only so much nose holding I can do in November.
Looks like Palin
I like it
No way, as I have now accepted the offer, so it can't be you.........

Spartacus.
Why? Palin has actually accomplished things as Governor of Alaska, as opposed to Obama’s non-existent record. She is managing a State. Obama hasn’t managed anything.
Mega Ping
This could be subterfuge, but I doubt it.
However, it could be erroneous, too.
Nonetheless, it does raise the Palin banner.
She would make it kind of hard for us to push the Obama isnt ready to be President angle.
Not really, people do not expect the same experience from a VP as they do a President, and I doubt the Obama camp would push the issue. I can already see the next ad now...
“Barack Obama has criticized Sarah Palin’s experience, yet Palin was running a city and working with the people while Obama was writing books... about himself. Who really is lacking the experience?”
On top of this, 16 months as a Governor is much more impressive than 16 months as a Senator.
I think Romney will be there (for Michigan) and McCain/Palin will call on him to be the architect of the new economic reforms in their cabinet.
Interesting- the MSNBC team says they’re flying in all the finalists to Dayton ..so Palin being there doesn’t say anything one way or another..
But that doesn’t explain why Pawlenty has already said it’s not him...and apparently he’s going to be at a state fair today..
Disinformation is king (or queen) right now!
So it looks like Palin’s the guy.
Wait, that is so wrong on so many levels . . .
who said? now I am getting all tingly...
Romney dropped like a stone on InTrade. I can’t see Sarah’s numbers there. Anyone got them?
Not really, I don’t believe.
As far as I was concerned, Hill was not ready either with only one term as an elected official...baking cookies while her hubby enjoyed cigars in the parlor is not the same thing.
McCain is the head of the ticket and who we are really voting for.
and palin will certainly cause some angst among dem women who will vote for a woman at any cost.
IF TRUE, I dodn’t think McCain had it in him to do it.
I must say I havn’t paid any attention to Palin.
Good grief it it is her I am going to cry. Just like the Obama cultists last night!
I never ever thought McCain would go there.
