Obama Campaign Confronts WGN Radio (Directs ObamaNazis to Target Stanley Kurtz Interview Tonight)

Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is organizing its supporters tonight to confront Tribune-owned WGN radio in Chicago for having a critic of the Illinois Democrat on its air.

"WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears," Obama's campaign wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "He's currently scheduled to spend a solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers."

Kurtz, a conservative writer, recently wrote an article for the National Review that looked at Obama's ties to former 1960s radical William Ayers.

The magazine had been blocked in its initial attempts to obtain records from the University of Illinois at Chicago regarding the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which Obama chaired and Ayers co-founded. The school later reserved its position and made the records available Tuesday.

Obama's campaign is urging supporters to call the radio station to complain.

"Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse," the note said.

"It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves," the note continued. "At the very least, they should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz's lies."

They must be really worried about this Annenburg thing. Amanda Carpenter of Townhall told Bill O’Reilly tonight that Obama is asking the Justice Dept. to investigate the American Issues Project, the group who made the Obama/Ayers ad. Not the FCC, the Justice Dept. That’s some serios overkill if there’s nothing to hide. Using his position as a US Senator to silence a political opponent? Seems like a pretty nasty attack for a guy passing himself off as a political newbie. This Ayers stone is rolling downhill fast and picking up some ugly moss.

One man's “divisive, destructive ranting” is another man's insightful criticism. Ask George W. Bush about how it feels when the former is described as the latter in the MSM. He has had to take it and be a man about it for at least 5 years. Obama apparently can't handle it at all.

There are people who still believe this is all lies or have never heard about this

we need to hammer this for weeks as Obama must be really up in arms over this.

The MSM have done a good job thus far of covering it up but we need to get the message out so everyone knows about this

The “Action Wire” is fascinating. One irrelevant non-sequitur after another. The idea is not to refute Kurtz on the facts but to gin up Obama’s followers on social issues so that they are motivated to shout him down.
