What Would You Do About The Illegal Alien Invasion?
August 13, 2008 | Tennessee Nana

Posted on 08/13/2008 4:15:50 AM PDT by Tennessee Nana

At this moment there are more than 300 million people living in the United States. How many are here illegally is uncertain and the estimated number changes depending on the political or social persuasion of the numerator. While liberal or “compassionate” Americans like to denounce any objections to the presence of illegal aliens as racism or bigotry over just a few, indeed as little as 12 million, cooler heads place the number closer to double and maybe even triple that amount.

While those same high-minded theologians and social reformers also claim that the few illegal aliens are only here for much needed work and are family oriented and civic minded, nothing could be further from the truth. Many of the illegal aliens are members of criminal gangs, or rely on an income, not from their own work ethics, but from the work of American taxpayers. The number of illegal aliens receiving public assistance in the form of welfare, food stamps, and other government handouts is huge, and a drain on state coffers. Emergency rooms in local hospitals are swamped by illegal aliens using their services for running noses and other light ailments, and using fraudulent identification in order to avoid payment.

Many people have a variety of reasons to forgive or condemn the illegal alien presence. The “compassionate” urge humanitarian treatment, and claim mass deportation is unwarranted and impossible to achieve, while blocking any attempt at strong law enforcement. The concerned work tireless to change local laws, raise their voices of alarm above the opposition’s roar, and warn others about an ever increasing flood of illegal aliens who rape, kill, steal, drive drunk, unlicensed and uninsured, use public funds they are not entitled to, and use stolen identification to deprive American citizens of employment, domiciles and government aid.

I have opinions about the illegal aliens derived from the several parts of my personal life:

As a Christian: Does it ever occur to the enablers who push the Bible, (a book they have seldom actually read) at Christians in an attempt to shame us into complacency, that the illegal aliens would not be in such dire straits if they had just stayed home and not entered the United States illegally?

As an American: No, we do not owe illegal aliens anything; a living, a job, free schooling for their illegal alien children, or pseudo 14th Amendment children. Nor are we to welcome with open arms people who deliberately break our sovereign laws in order to enter our country, and then wantonly flaunt their criminal activity in our faces.

As a veteran: I use to wonder why illegal aliens did not apply to serve in the American armed forces, thus proving their fond regard for our nation. I do not wonder any longer; I do not feel that a person who would have so little respect for our immigration laws would have the character required to serve honorably in our military.

As a former immigrant: As a child I was taught to love and respect Americans. The appreciation for the sacrifice of the American soldiers and sailors in the Pacific during World War II, was passed down to me by my parents and other adults in New Zealand, who had lived in fear of imminent invasion by the Japanese. My love and appreciation for the greatest country in the world has been a lifelong attitude and inspired me to serve in the United States military as a registered alien. I wore my uniform the day I proudly became an American citizen in 1975.

When I completed an application to enter the United States, there were several requirements that illegal aliens bypass in their unauthorized entry into our country. I had to pay fees, have a clean bill of health, receive inoculations, have a thorough criminal and background check, and prove that I would not become a public dependant. I signed documents affirming that I understood I was not entitled to public assistance and that if I committed a felony, I would be deported. When I applied to enter the United States, it was with the knowledge that immigration was a serious step and required scrupulous documentation.

However I entered the country in 1971: amnesty was not a household word that year.

From my profile page, written over 3 years ago:

rottndog's 10 Simple solutions to the crisis of illegal immigration:

1. Immediately allocate funding for as many border patrol agents as necessary to effectively secure the borders. This would include the use of military forces, as defending the country against invasion is supposed to be the primary function of the Federal Government.

2. Immediately allocate funding for a modern and effective border fence.

3. Cut off all federal funds to any state, county, and/or city that has an expressed (or even unexpressed) sanctuary policy, including police noncooperation policies such as LAPD's special order number 40.

4. Immediately sue in federal court all aforementioned entities to overturn these patently unconstitutional policies (enforce the supremacy clause).

5. Cut off all federal funds to any state, county, and/or city that refuses to verify eligibility requirements for the dispensing of federally funded or subsidized public services.

6. Start prosecuting repeat illegal border crossers and put them in prison. It is a felony to recross the border after deportation. Give them a warning after the first offense, but after that, off to jail. Maybe have longer sentences for multiple offenses (I like Three Strikes).

7. End the "anchor baby" citizenship loophole. This can be done simply by federal statute.

8. Establish and implement a system of instant electronic checking of residency status for the purpose of employment. They have instant checking for firearms purchasing, why not for employment eligibility verification?

9. Fund random inspections of businesses by ICE officials to verify employment eligibility (legal residency). Include in this a task force to immediately respond to the use of bogus employee social security numbers.

10. Arrest and prosecute employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. After instant checks are established, there will be no excuses.

Some of these things could be done under current law--in other words, much of the problem would go away if our current laws already on the books were ENFORCED!

Add to Number 1: If you are a legal immigrant, but cannot read English well enough to pass a drivers license test, you do not get a drivers license.

Add to Number 6: No SSI...

Pull all federal assistance and grants from any local jurisdiction claiming “sanctuary city” status, or refusing to cooperate with the Federal Government in enforcing federal law initially. If that doesn’t straighten them out, then declare that jurisdiction in rebellion against the United States and take over the government there with Federal Agents.

Adopt legisaltion to put any business which knowlingly hires illegal aliens out of business, liquidate their assets, and use the funds to defray the cost to the public of housing, and repatriating illegal aliens.

Arrest and bring charges against individuals such as those in Wind of the Spirit who provide aid and assistance to illegal aliens in evading Federal Immigration Laws.

Build a physical border fence with Mexico complete with the most modern barrier technology.

Seize Mexican assets in the United States and liquidate them to defray the costs of apprehending, incarcerating and repatriating illegal invaders from Mexico.

Enact legislation on the Federal Level making it illegal for any local jurisdication to mandate provision of social benefits of any kind except those of an urgent, immediate and temporary nature, to illegal invaders, pass a Federal Law recognizing English as an official language, pass legislation to stop the employment of bilingual forms, etc in other langauges, and pass legislation clarifying that the Constitution does not in fact grant citizen status to individuals born in the United States if their parents are illegally here.

Do all of that and the illegal alien problem will end, without taking much direct action against illegals. They will be forced to leave.

"The Roman Republic fell, not because of the ambition of Caesar or Augustus, but because it had already long ceased to be in any real sense a republic at all. When the sturdy Roman plebeian, who lived by his own labor, who voted without reward according to his own convictions, and who with his fellows formed in war the terrible Roman legion, had been changed into an idle creature who craved nothing in life save the gratification of a thirst for vapid excitement, who was fed by the state, and who directly or indirectly sold his vote to the highest bidder, then the end of the republic was at hand, and nothing could save it. The laws were the same as they had been, but the people behind the laws had changed, and so the laws counted for nothing." - Teddy Roosevelt

TN: >>E-Verify can be used to check the validity of documents and social security numbers..<<

YOU: >>Isn’t that nice? It’s hard enough to find someone who can do the job one wants done, and to pay all the taxes, and comply with the thousands of regulations, but now the employer is sort of duputized as an immigration enforcement agent; all so he remains allowed to breathe.<<

So you must object to federal laws requiring I-9s? Or you don’t like e-verify because it might actually be effective? AFAIK e-verify does not consume a lot of time unless it finds a discrepancy. If I were an employer, I would not mind using a tool that would prevent me from hiring an illegal; rather, I think using e-verify would help me to avoid potential future problems, and might prevent helping an identity thief to profit from his crime.

I heard a woman in a drugstore not long ago — a very well dressed and refined looking woman — react to a bunch of unruly hispanic kids running amok without anyone keeping an eye on them in the store.

She engaged me in conversation about this immigration problem and I agreed something must be done but asked what can we do?

Her answer was short and not so sweet. “Shoot them at the border!” Hmmm................

Actually, yes; but that's a different issue.

Or you don’t like e-verify because it might actually be effective?

I have to be honest. I don't know what is involved. The only employee my company has is me, and I didn't do any verification on myself. (I wonder: is that okay with you?) The Federales and the State governments (mine at least) have businesses filing so many forms it would make your head spin. (and it probably costs me five grand a year) Let the Federales figure out themselves from all these forms whether the guy is legal or not, and then show up, arrest and deport (or execute - Yeah that's me: fearing that the mighty e-verify would be effective!) the ones who are not here legally. We pay people to do law enforcement. I can tell the damn government where to go to pick up all sorts of illegals every morning, but they won't do it. They would rather make examples of a few "employers." And you cheer.

I have no desire to burden you with too much paperwork, but if we don’t do anything about immigration, this country will become poorer, weaker, and more lawless.

>>Let the Federales figure out themselves from all these forms whether the guy is legal or not, and then show up, arrest and deport<<

Immigration enforcement needs some help, since there are so many forces that are working against it:

- Bush (and McCain and Obama)

- Corrupt politicians (see my tagline)

- “Sanctuary cities”

- The ACLU and their rogue judges

- Business people. This is where you fit in, although apparently e-verify doesn’t apply to your business

>>They would rather make examples of a few “employers.” And you cheer.<<

That’s really the only way to do something about the problem. Eliminate the incentive. But as you probably noticed, there are not enough employers busted to make a significant difference.

By “eliminate the incentive” I mean taking away illegal employment (e. g. e-verify), not just busting employers, and of course eliminating government benefits to illegals.

I am already burdened with paperwork, your desires notwithstanding. I am only concerned for my fellow citizens who want to go about their lives without being turned into criminals by an assortment of politicians and bureaucrats whom I would imprison before I began eliminating the illegals.

We have huge federal agencies plus an Army whose job it is to defend this country. Let them erect gun towers on the Rio Grande and shoot anything that moves across it. Let them round up the obvious illegals loitering in the parking lot of the McDonalds here on Route 46 here in NJ. Let them indict the various mayors of New York City who have directed all their employees not to distinguish between legal and illegal. It is complete BS that they need help. They're only looking for someone else to blame for the mess we are in, or worse. Open your eyes.

Elect Obama — he says the solution to the problem is for Americans to teach their kids Spanish.

Did the dummy say that while Bush was celebrating Cinco De Mayo in the Rose Garden, or when Bush was publicly encouraging this invasion and pandering to Mexico multiple times during the past 8 years of his administration?

Make Tax Day (15 April) and Election Day the same.

I say pay your taxes and vote at the same window. Income Taxes in April for State & Federal Offices, Property taxes in November for local Offices.

If you do not pay taxes then you do not vote.

Term Limits for every political office would also be sensible.

>>I am already burdened with paperwork, your desires notwithstanding.<<

I don’t think e-verify is an unreasonable burden for employers, especially considering what a disaster we are approaching if flagrant immigration violations continue. Perhaps other government paperwork could be eliminated or improved.

>>I am only concerned for my fellow citizens who want to go about their lives without being turned into criminals by an assortment of politicians and bureaucrats whom I would imprison before I began eliminating the illegals.<<

Are you saying that employers are breaking the law but they should not be prosecuted?

>>Let them round up the obvious illegals loitering in the parking lot of the McDonalds here on Route 46 here in NJ.<<

Actually, that might be illegal. I think you need some kind of better justification than they are “obvious illegals.”

>>Let them indict the various mayors of New York City who have directed all their employees not to distinguish between legal and illegal.<<

I could not agree more.

>>They’re only looking for someone else to blame for the mess we are in, or worse. Open your eyes.<<

I think there is some truth in what you say. Bush and previous administrations, and congresses, have not done their jobs. However, ICE agents are outnumbered by illegals 2,000 to 1. You don’t care if illegals take jobs and steal identities, and resent a few seconds it would take to use e-verify. Such an attitude is one reason (clearly not the only reason) we have such a big problem.

We are talking really obvious here. Let the police inquire. They can ask me too. Your argument here reminds me of something my leftwing, liberal sister might suggest.

As for employers, I wonder what makes you think they might not be presented with false documentation. If you want to bust employers who "benefit," why not nail grocers who sell them food too. The grocers "benefit," don't they? Where are these f---ers living? Don't their landlords "benefit" too? And as long as we're rounding up folks who "benefit" from the presence of the illegals, let's not forget the Democrats.

You have no clue. Nothing the Federal Government imposes upon employers takes a "few seconds." And even if it did, let's never forget that those are my "few seconds."

1. control the border. That means a fence. That means a method of tracking the visa’s of every visitor so we know when they overstay. that means fingerprinting all visitors to the US.

2. Enforce the laws against hiring illegals. That means prison and big fines for companies that violate those laws.

3. Deport all criminals, all detained on other charges who are illegal. Deport any who are know to have reentered illegally.

4. Remove all health, social, educational and welfare benefits from illegals.

Do that, and most of the rest will leave voluntarily.

That one item on your list would do as much to solve the problem as all the rest combined. But let's do all that you suggested just to clean up any loose ends the prosecution of employers doesn't take care of.

See the last part of my post #60 for the reasons why none of our suggestions will be used by the people who run the country courtesy of the brain dead voters who vote for the politician who promises them the most goodies or who they think is sexiest (Obama?) without even knowing what the candidate believes or knows about the proper role of government in a Constitutional Republic.
