"Every time I look at Phoebe, I know I made the right decision. I never wanted to end my baby's life just because of how she came to be," she told the Daily Mail this weekend. God Bless this courageous woman and her child.

despite the disapproval of most of her family and the open scorn of people in her village and church... What kind of a church would scorn a young woman for refusing to have an abortion? It would seem the writer of this piece has an ax to grind against organized religion.
But good for this young lady. She's a true giant among moral cowards.

That’s a very moving story. Elizabeth and her mom deserve a lot of credit here. I am so glad for everyone concerned that Elizabeth was able to move and and adopt what I consider to be a very healthy attitude about all this.
I am sorry Elizabeth was subjected to this type of crime. It was despicable!
Phoebe is one lucky child!

Why should the baby pay the ultimate price for the crimes of the rapist?
I would certainly understand if the mother wanted to give up the baby for adoption do to being raped.

Good story, thanks.
Ethyl Waters' Mother was raped by a black man when she was 12 or 13. This is from From Her Autobiography
Ethel Waters related this story in her autobiography, His Eye is on the Sparrow: "I never was a child. I never felt I belonged. I was always an outsider." Her mother resented and disliked her because she conceived Ethel as the result of a knife point rape when she was only 12-years-old. Ethel raised over 20 little girls, giving them all the love and discipline she never had as a child. She supported her mother all her life and her mother was able before she died to accept her and tell her she loved her, an event Ethel placed as the greatest in her life "except for finding God."

I would bet my life that everyone on this board is a descendent from someone who was a product of rape at some point given history and the steady practice of conquest and women being pretty much fair game in conquered lands.
I applaud this lady and her daughter but in real politics I would consider the banning of abortion except in the case of rape, incest or LIFE..not health...of the mother
a huge victory!
