Why Are We Whispering?
Washington Post ^ | August 9, 2008 | Andrew Klavan

At a recent writers conference in Southern California, one of my colleagues on a screenwriters panel told the crowd of about 50 people that she hoped Barack Obama would win the presidency. A number of people applauded. When it was my turn to speak, I politely said that I disagreed with her politics and moved on to other topics. There was no applause for me, but several writers approached me afterward. Each dropped his voice to a whisper and, looking around to make sure no one would overhear, said, "Thank you for saying that."

Which raises a question for all conservatives in the arts: Why are we whispering?

When protesting in Los Angeles a lady dressed in a scarf and a rain coat joined us. We’d hear “funny voices” at times as we raised our signs and tried to get passing motorists to honk in support. Turned out she was a voice over artist/cartoon voice artist, and she performed characters you would recognize. She did not want her identity known, and we knew why without having to be told.

It is not an isolated circumstance, she told us how a few fellow performers/producers would quietly caucus, but would fear discovery and loss of work.

HERITAGE FOUNDATION: "How Modern Liberals Think"

Someone posted this on a similar thread at Hot Air last night re: Jon Voight and Andrew Breitbart. I'd never listened to it before. Worth every single minute.

Video: Nice movie career you’ve got there, wingnut; it’d be a shame if something happened to it

**I like the title, but I can’t figure out the WaPo’s angle.**

Andrew Klavan, the author, has of late written SEVERAL Articles sympathetic to Conservatives in the Entertainment Industry. I guess he’s committing Employment Suicide.

Saying that you don’t like Obama will get you branded as a racist.

Why Are We Whispering?

Because we have been well trained. I recall back in the late 90’s a woman protested some homosexual behavior or issues in her hometown I think abot a school curiculumn. The national homeosexual lobbys placed pressure on the woman’s husband’s place of employment. He lost his job. They shut her up and everyone who watched. All leftists use pressure and tactics to smear and disable their rivals. It is not a debate, it is a war to them.

I recently went to the same conference and also others over the last six years where the NY and LA elite do the same through out the conferences. It is sickening and has literally made me sick to my stomach and ill over time from shutting my mouth out of concern for not getting published or even in my classes at USC the same attacks. At this point we are all done with the facists control of the industries that we work in and it is either sickness over the long term and a repression of self or just speak out as one is moved or feel it is appropriate.

Us conservatives are generally more thoughtful and intelligent folks :-) and do not need to puke our politics out in completely inappropriate setting like these liberal yahoos. Screw 'em. God will punish when they die anyway. Let them reckon with God for interfering with any career that they may by such motivations.

Part of me has been asking why have FREEPERS been . . . sooooo inclined to whisper . . . has political correctness coerced even FREEPERDOM?

Seems like a lot of the fun has gone with a lot of the back and forth.

Do we have to have contentious exchanges to get our blood going and have fun?

Is it no longer safe in ‘polite society’ to even be anything in the direction of conservative?

Has group-think succeeded so well?

Have the mind control experiments been deployed so well?

Why all this pussy-footing around in wimpy tones and phrases?

Where’s the GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH—in-your-face stuff of our forefathers?

I was “OUTED” while working on the set of “Cradle Will Rock”! Haven’t worked in NYC since. I’m convinced the Unions have my name and PIC, as I am Properly IGNORED when I show up.

Been thinking the same thing myself the last couple of months, not a good trend.

“...has political correctness coerced even FREEPERDOM?”

Yep. And the reigning term around here, “congresscritter” is gender neutral.

Well, it certainly would be nice if Hollywood Conservatives could come 'out' of the political closet.

...But the recent proposal by theater chains in California to raise the price of a movie ticket to $15 isn't really going to help much, given the current state of our sluggish economy.

More on the subject at hand: It's rather ironic that Liberals often tout their 'tolerance' to anyone who'll listen, telling America how 'peaceful' and 'compassionate' they are...until you mention the War On Terror, President Bush, and Conservatives in general. That's when their phony masks slip off.
