Paul Newman has finished chemotherapy and has told his family he wants to die at home...
Yesterday, it was reported in America that Newman, 83, had only weeks to live and had returned home to his wife, Joanne Woodward...

“You hang on there Luke! You hang on! WE got a whole lot of world shakin’ to do.”
IIRC, Newman has lung cancer and weighs something like 95 pounds.
Another favorite (liberal) actor, James Garner, isn’t doing well either after having a serious stroke.
Yes...home hospice was definitely the best thing for my Dad's last couple of weeks. As well, they know how to handle things upon death. Within 30 minutes, the nurse was there to "pronounce", and within an hour and a half, all the reminder stuff (hospital bed, O-2 machine, etc.) were picked up.
The doctor, coroner and funeral home were all contacted within the hour.
He’s a good man who has led a fairly long and good life. May the Lord bless him with His forgiveness.
A good man. He may have been a liberal, but he was never an obnoxious or stupid one.
I think his salad dressing charities all, or at least mostly, went to genuinely good causes—not toward spreading abortion or God knows what. Probably sounder than Catholic Charities!
Prayers for him and his family.
Paul Newman as Henry Gondorf in The Sting.
Looks like another set of threes is about to happen. Comedian Bernie Mac died early this morning.

I think I've got it memorized....every character's parts...
Newman was good in “Road to Perdition” too.
Wrong politics but I can’t say that I didn’t like the guy. There will never be a better Cool Hand Luke.
Some relations live not far away. Yes, a good neighbor.
“Shakin’ the bushes boss, shakin’ the bushes’.
He contributed to George McGovern, Barak Obama, and the Brady Campaign. He was (is) on the Brady Campaign (HCI) national committee.
I didn’t even know he’d been sick. Sorry to hear about it, and send my prayers to him and his family.
Paul Newman was a bit before my time so the only movie I remember him in was that pool-shark movie he made with Tom Cruise a while back. When I was a kid, my mother used to drop me and my friends off to see a movie, usually something like "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" or one of those Herbie the Volkswagon type movies. But one time, my friend and I bought ticket to "The Sting" instead, thinking is was some kind of horror movie about giant insects or something. Boy, were we ever disappointed. I think I was 10 years old at the time and that movie made absolutely no sense to me and my friend at all. I always meant to see that movie again as an adult but I never got around to it.

Geez!
I hope that Mr. Newman does not go before the Pearly Gates and character act as Reg Dunlop.
As much as I love Slapshot I tired to find a good quote to make light of a bad situation and well.... none were fit for FR :).
Paul, you will always be two roles to me. Reg Dunlop, player coach of the Charlestown Chiefs and John Rooney from Road to Perdition. Oh and least I forget, your portrayal of General Leslie Groves in “Fat Man and Little Boy” was also spectacular.
You’ve done as much off the screen as you did on and stayed married for 50+ years, politics aside a life well led.
