Mark Knowler is the guy who breathlessly reports stories with the bizarre tremulous voice that sounds like he's somewhere between severe heart palpitations and full cardiac infarct.

He must be related to some mucky-muck at NPR.

From having heard him before, I'm sure the situation isn't as bad as his panicking voice would make it sound.

A camera is looked at with suspicion in Red China.

To be honest, my first thought was...Someone on board probably wasn't on the passenger list, or was not what they pretended to be.

Remember during the Clinton years when the Air force had to ditch a plane in a remote China area when they were hit by an Chinese pilot and they were briefly held captive ? I think that's the way it happened

At that time I had a firewall program running to identify IP addresses that were pinging my computer trying to break in.

Every time I am forced to hear one of his reports I will recall the mental image of his hassles with the Chicoms. Sweet!

Update: Chinese Communist Party officials have stated that until the dispute is resolved, that all passengers on board the plane will be supplied with complimentary toiletries including toothpaste, brought in by special delivery from Happy Toothpaste & Antifreeze Manufacturing Factory #9 just outside Beijing.
