BLANKLEY: Obama is who he is Height of hubris
The Washington Times ^ | August 6, 2008 | Tony Blankley

Posted on 08/05/2008 5:51:45 PM PDT by mdittmar

It's getting tricky to know how to refer to he who presumes to be the next president. It was made clear several months ago that mentioning his middle name was a forbidden act. (Pass out more egg shells.) Then, last week "he" warned his followers that, having nothing honorable to say, Sen. John McCain would try to scare voters by pointing to Barack Obama's "funny name" and the fact that "he doesn't look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills."

Now, putting aside for the moment the racial component of his warning, what are we to make of the "funny name" reference? Many people have "funny" names. Some people think my last name - being very close in spelling to the adverbial form for the absence of content - is funny. Certainly Gov. Mike Huckabee's name is funny. Many on the left have had great fun with President Bush's last name. But we have all found our names perfectly serviceable and would expect people to call us by the names by which we identify ourselves.

I understand the bills mentioned are no longer in circulation, however as a youngster I vividly remember 1000 dollar bills being carried almost as 100's are today.

I distinctly remember my father carrying, on occasion, 5000 dollar bills and on ONE occasion had a 10,000 dollar bill, which he used to pay off the loan on our home.

From the article:

It is repulsive to see such a mentality in a man who would be president.

To normal, sane, well-balanced people for sure, but for his fawning, scraping acolytes?  No, to them his breathtaking, unearned arrogance is a sign of his superior intellect, and framing it in a less than deifying way would of course be racist......

We could always ask, plenty of black FReepers.

Somehow I think the intellectuals from the Afro American community are having second thoughts about the "uppity" act, because it is a cover for weakness of experience and judgement on Obama's part.

You know, pretty girls who think they are ugly, who wear too much make up...that sort of thing.

Obama has that bad.

One would expect that of a teenager, not a sitting US senator.Maybe Obama is actually a case of arrested development?

Nothing like having a teenager run the country!

You can either be a leader or play the victim. You can’t do both.

With Obama, the problem isn’t just what he doesn’t know, it’s also what he doesn’t know that he doesn’t know.

I work with a guy whose last name has six letters and is pronounced “win”. That’s a funny name.

Out of curiosity: Southeast Asian?

it’s also what he doesn’t know that he doesn’t know.

As well as his apparent refusal to consider the possibility that he may not know something.

Exactly. With superior intellect like that, it's no wonder he beat the smartest woman in the universe. Thanks Barack. /sarcasm :)

You know, if someone says that, Bob Herbert of the NYT will say we called him “boy.” This racist ploy can be nerver ending for the left.

"We’re at war with Muslim fanatics, and we’re electing someone named Barack Hussein Obama, President. This country sure is humorous."

We get the leaders we deserve. It all depends on if American insanity has reached critical mass. We're close, we're very very close.

On the one hand, I'm usually ready to give Americans the benfit of the doubt when it comes to presidential election, but then I think of the travesty of the Carter and Clinton administrations, and know that it was moronic Americans that elected them, and I realize that yes, this idiot socialist muslim just might reach the pinnacle of power in the United States of America less than a decade after 911 happened. It's all part of the commie plan of indoctrination, and far too many sheople have been assimilated and brainwashed into it, and proudly proclaim their idiocy and wear it as a badge of honor.

Your name is funny;)

Well, at least Jeff's parents didn't name him Richard. :=)

The Trickle family did just that to one of their sons. Can you imagine going through school being known as "Dick Trickle".

Over the last 100 and more years,, Richard has not been a popular, or even once used, name in our family.
