Leader of black Republicans sparks a backlash

At age 64, well into her retirement from the Army, Frances Rice is at the center of a contentious campaign on race and politics -- and she has never been happier.

Frances Rice, 64, grew up in Atlanta. She says growing up in poverty and segregation set her against the Democratic Party. Now, as she works to bring blacks to the ranks of the GOP, she says she feels that she is making a difference in politics. But her tactics are not winning everyone over. The leader of the Sarasota-based National Black Republican Association is a minority within a minority. Not only is she black, she is also a Republican, a member of a party to which fewer than 10 percent of black voters in Florida belong. Her campaigns -- including one meant to foil the nomination of the first black presidential candidate, Barack Obama -- are best known for their shock value.

Her messages have brought condemnation from Democrats. But they have also sparked a backlash among many Republicans.

Thanks for leaving the insults out.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. In other words, if he had no benefit, then no one could suffer...that is my point. You say he has the job, and a non AA candidate suffers for it....EXACTLY. While he benefits...FROM THE JOB. You act as if an AA candidate is limited to the private sector, or as if he has a job quota on how many times he can be employed. How many people do you think hollywood/the media/et al employs? I would imagine in the millions...you don’t think they practice, as leftists, their own form of AA, after the initial gov AA? What about gov employees? I bet they fire unqualified AA employees all the time. No benefit there.

His failure may be guaranteed, in performance oriented occupations, but there are many processes in place to ensure his success...and in the meantime, he draws a check for far more than hes worth, his opinions are deemed to be more valuable than others, and there is an entire spectrum of gov programs aimed at easing his life, and most likely his ‘baby momma’ is sucking the gov teat as well, so they’re double dipping.

Are you still sure he doesn’t benefit? Are you under the impression that I’m arguing in favor of AA? Perhaps you should go back and re-read my posts.

He sure hung out with some weird leftist/commie people then.

I think he addressed the Republican Convention with these words in, oh, say 1967 or so. They cheered him, don’t you know? /sarc

“The only change came from America as we increased our troop commitments in support of governments which were singularly corrupt, inept and without popular support. All the while the people read our leaflets and received regular promises of peace and democracy — and land reform. Now they languish under our bombs and consider us — not their fellow Vietnamese —the real enemy. They move sadly and apathetically as we herd them off the land of their fathers into concentration camps where minimal social needs are rarely met. They know they must move or be destroyed by our bombs. So they go — primarily women and children and the aged.

They watch as we poison their water, as we kill a million acres of their crops. They must weep as the bulldozers roar through their areas preparing to destroy the precious trees. They wander into the hospitals, with at least twenty casualties from American firepower for one “Vietcong”-inflicted injury. So far we may have killed a million of them — mostly children. They wander into the towns and see thousands of the children, homeless, without clothes, running in packs on the streets like animals. They see the children, degraded by our soldiers as they beg for food. They see the children selling their sisters to our soldiers, soliciting for their mothers.”

Damn, thats some right wing rhetoric right there. I remember seeing all the Republicans marching in the streets, burning bras...4 dead in Ohio.

Well, it was a democrat, JFK that got us in, and it was a democrat, LBJ that escalated the war that MLK was talking about at that time in 1967. What would make you think that made him a commie/lib?

She has more backbone than most of the House and Senate R's combined.

and...
She went on to earn a law degree and an MBA. She retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel.

So why hasn't she been elected as governor of Florida or to Congress? We could use a veteran conservative Black in Congress or as Florida's governor.

“What would make you think that made him a commie/lib?”

Uh...what?

The words I posted to you? Those words. Thats what. So JFK started the war, as a Democrat, and LBJ escalated the war...so then it follows that all of our Soldiers/Airmen/Marines/Sailors that he so basely accuses of being violent beasts, and victimizing the Vietmanese so thoroughly...well then, they were all Democrats/libs as well. Because our military is historically majority liberal. Hey, I’m in your world now!

Thats some twisted logic you use to justify his words of hatred and propaganda towards my dad and one of my Uncles, and every other American man who fought so the GD ARVN’s didn’t have to. I guess by today’s standards, he really is a R(ino)epublican.

If his words aren’t enough, I guess I could trot out some of his associates. Or does he get a pass on those like Obama gets a pass on his radical BLT/Commie associates? I just *know* he believed what I believe...truth be damned.

Doesn’t say she has broken any. She is innocent until proven guilty. Have they brought charges, etc. If not...then they are whining.

By the way, he spoke those words DURING wartime. Thus emboldening the enemy no different than the likes of Hanoi Jane.

How does that liberal lie go these days? Oh yes...perhaps he was “anti-war but pro-troops.” Must be it.

So why hasn't she been elected as governor of Florida or to Congress?

Or, with her resume, President. Imagine a world where we had her or someone like her to get behind instead of McLovin.

I think the best defense is the truth. Has the Democrat party done little to nothing for black people in America? I think the answer is yes. Hell, even white liberal Daniel Patrick Moynihan knew that years ago when he talked about the erosion of the black family because of welfare.

Ms. Rice is trying to get that message out, and she is in a position SOCIALLY to say more about it because she is black.

I hope she keeps spreading the truth that Democrats have been historically against people of African descent--and continue to be against them.

Hell

If you call trillions of tax payers dollars ‘nothing,’ then ok, I can agree with that. Better to say, has the Democrat party ACHIEVED anything significant in relation to the amount of their effor towards ‘helping’ Blacks? No...but they foisted upon the country every leftist entitlement scheme they could, and if you don’t think a minority is happier/benefitting with free cheese/free health care/free schooling/racial preferences, well my friend, my I suggest you look at a ‘minority’ in the Third World as a good way to make sure you’re being objective.

You can’t have it both ways...either the Dems are responsible for creation of the ‘Great Society’ and its perpetuation/acceleration to this day, or they’re not. I don’t think you want to spread the idea that Republicans are somehow responsible for most entitlement programs, although God knows they barely resist them these days.

The problem is that you’re trying to ‘outvictim’ the people who invented modern victimhood, leftists. You’ll never win at their game, unless you give free handouts as well, any more than you’ll convince a toddler to not eat free candy because ‘its bad for him.’ Human nature guarantees that when you’re on the teat, you don’t want to leave it, and you definitely don’t want to hear its bad for you.

So what do you end up with? A shell of a Republican party, who failed at entitlement programs, because the other party already had a lock on it.

If you agree with racial politics in your favor, then you lose the moral high ground to resist the same tactics used so much more succesfully by the media/leftists. I’d rather stay on the straight and narrow, and be the party of self reliance. And besides, if someone has to be ‘Black,’ to reach Black people, are you sure you want those kinds of people in your ‘non racist’ party?

You yearn for Blacks to understand that you’re the real help for them...Its evident in your words. What also comes through is the implication that YOU would just DO MORE for them, if they’d only JOIN YOU. Thats a very slippery slope.

Governor is a better start, but at her age she doesn't have time to start. Maybe VP?

You obviously don’t understand conservatism, because conservatives don’t go along with the nonsense of welfare-for life, etc.

Quit putting words in my mouth.

If you don’t “get it”, fine. But the facts are there: Rice is telling the truth about the hollowness of the Democrats and their programs.

I think the same can be said for you. There you go.

The fact remains, Rice is speaking accurately regarding 'rats. I applaud her.

You’re a tricky one, aren’t you? But anyone honestly reading will see that I posed you questions that you declined to answer, while I have tried to honestly answer the questions you put to me.

So since you want a further dialogue,

Is it your contention that THIRTY THREE TRILLION DOLLARS is ‘nothing?’ You sure you understand Conservatism?

Is it your contention that there are no peripheral benefits to the same ‘minorities’ that have received THIRTY THREE TRILLION DOLLARS IN TAX PAYER MONEY?

Please try to answer just two of my questions, if you can.

This lady is great. Now if only her and the www.nationalwhiterepublicans.com could just form a partnership...oh wait, there isn’t any such group.

Well instead she can partner with the Italian American Republican Coalition, the Irish American Republican Club, or the Polish American Republican Association.

This lady proclaims her racism by the little descriptor ‘Black’ in National Black Republicans.

The descriptor 'Black' is a pseudonym for 'African American', Afro-American, etc. In other words, it doesn't really refer to Haitians, Africans, black Hispanics, Caribbeans, etc., but rather traditional black Americans, thus making it more of an ethnic based organization than a racial one (like the ethnic organizations listed above).
