While everyone has been contemplating one "unthinkable" outcome of the fall vote---Obama's election (and, for what it's worth, as of right now this does appear to be the likely outcome)---let me suggest an equally unthinkable result: Obama loses.
I have been giving a lot of thought to this because of the coverage of Obama as a "transfiguring" personality, as an "image," as (to use the phrase of some of the pundits), a "superman," and, of course, as the German schlub said, "a messiah."
What happens when superman loses an election? What happens when voters reject the messiah?
We all need to be prepared for a hailstorm of charges about "voter fraud," "fixing the election," and cheating such as will make 2000 look like a high school prom queen contest. It's understood that an overwhelmingly Dem congress and senate wouldn't give John McCain the time of day, let alone actually try to improve the country. Forget that. I'm talking serious stuff here.
Already the groundwork is laid for political violence and upheaval such as in the 1960s. Messiahs can't lose unless they are betrayed by some Judas; Superman can't fail unless there is some mysterious introduction of Kryptonite---say, the "conservative media."
An Obama loss will bring on deeply damaging legislation (which McCain can't, or won't, stop) against talk radio and Fox . . . and likely the internet. There will be the predictable rioting, but it may be more severe than what we've seen in the past, especially given that a president McCain would be neither tough enough to smash it (like Nixon) or to overcome it by appealing to the public (like Reagan).
In short---the policies of John McCain aside---I think the fallout from an Obama defeat will be disastrous. This certainly is no reason to vote for him; indeed, this Mussolini-like figure demands our total opposition. But be prepared: the messiah's loss will not be taken lightly.
His presidency would be even more disastrous, IMO.
“LA will burn for 3 years along with most of the rest of the major cities in the US. Food and fuel distribution halts to out lying areas and millions of refuges flee the cities.”
IOW it would be like lighting a rats nest on fire?
Let ‘em riot. CWII has to start sometime....
Why would feul dist. be halted to areas not affecting by the riots?
Won't it be a delightful day for us if that happens? Republicans may not get everything they want, but it'll be a hellava sight better than the alternative.
And if McCain does win, accusations of racism and vote tampering and voter irregularities will follow. Get ready. It will happen and it will be ugly.
My son is in college at Loyola and is going to be stocking up on food, etc., before the election. In fact, he is considering bringing his car home until everything settles down even though it is parked in a garage of Loyola.
He considers the possibility of riots in Chicago very high when Obama loses and yes he believes he will lose big.
McCain needs to trounce Obama which I believe will happen.
If a few people getting free big screens, basketball shoes, and malt liquor means that 8-10% of the people that need killin’ are eliminated, I say, “Let the games begin.”
“It means that President McCain declares martial law”
It would be Bush, not McCain but I totally agree with the rest of your post.

Maybe you’re right—one thing I know: 4 years of him as President WILL be a disaster.
What you’re saying is, in effect, that the people of America should be afraid for conducting, and voting their choice, in a fair election, because some lowlifes might riot?????? Jesus let’s give up then, and call ourselves “Haiti North” or some such.
I’m not going to give in to any of that. If I’m doing what’s right and what’s legal, I should have no cause to fear, and I’ll defend myself and my rights. In fact, may I suggest:If anything goes down, there needs to be one hell of a pushback—what Wall Street calls a “correction”. We can’t survive as a country looking over our shoulder.
One can dream...
“Right now his favotability ratings are below 50%.”
he was at 57% 3 or 4 days ago with McCain at 55%. If Barry is dropping that fast, he’s in real trouble.
.....What happens when voters reject the messiah...
They have him crucified.
Who will crucify the current Messiah?

Oh please - bring the flippin' rioting already. The worthless liberal twits wouldn't last a week. The best thing about riots is that we can see, first hand, who the enemy really is and take care of things once and for all.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the typical looter. They'll run right past the carcasses of the previous unsuccessful looter, thinking that it can't happen to them.
