President Bush on Monday approved the execution of an Army private, administration officials said. It was the first time in over a half-century that a president has affirmed a death sentence for a member of the U.S. military.

Attention all, US Presidents only do this for a very, very good reason.
As example, Pvt. Eddie Slovik was condemned for desertion in WWII to a great extent because of the fear of a collapse of military morale as the war dragged on.
So I strongly suspect that President Bush is doing this for a very good reason as well. Most likely Iran. Were he doing this just out of policy, he would have approved the execution of the five other military prisoners sitting on death row at Fort Leavenworth, years ago. (Eight total, two awaiting resentencing or other delays.)
I’m so jaded.
My first thought was wondering if he only did it to pander to the rest of the world and all the anti-military folks we have running amok.
Ronald Gray
I actually have a copy of the Air Force Regulation that prescribes the procedure for erecting a gallows...far as I know, it’s never been superseded.

Four murders and eight rapes certainly qualifies this troop for a dirt nap billet for the duration.
?!?!
Did an earlier report say something against it, or what?!?
i FORGOT THAT SCUMWAFFLES NAME
We can do it to that Marine that went UA and was found in Beirut with his ‘girlfriend’, too...
The method has been settled for quite some time.

Uh-oh, Jesse Jackson’s gonna squawk.
Don’t worry, he won’t. There is no money to extort...
Because no one pays for the Politico. The D.C. Examiner and the Washington Post’s freebie paper, Express, get picked up more frequently at Union Station—and it’s only four blocks from Capitol Hill.
Geez, AP forgot to put his face in their story...
I wonder why? The did, however, put the picture of the church shooter in the story below this one.

Let the riots begin
Never mind what he did:
"Gray pleaded guilty to two murders and five rapes and was sentenced to three consecutive life terms by a North Carolina state court.
Later, he was tried by a military court martial at Fort Bragg for separate crimes including the rape and murder of two women, and the rape and attempted murder of a third.
He was convicted of raping, sodomizing and murdering army private Laura Lee Vickery-Clay, who was shot four times and found with blunt force trauma over much of her body.
The military court also convicted him of murdering a civilian taxi driver, Kimberly Ann Ruggles, who was found on the army base after being raped, sodomized, stabbed and beaten to death.
The third victim, army private Mary Ann Lang Nameth, was raped and robbed in her barracks by Gray, who attempted to murder her by stabbing her multiple times in the neck and side, the court martial found.
My only question is why didn't Bush I sign this order?.I know why the 'toon didn't. Or why didn't Bush II sign it about 7 years ago?
I wonder what Sinator Hope and Change will have to say about this?
I wondered if they still hung people too.
found this on wiki:
Military executions would be conducted under regulations issued on 17 January 2006, and would ordinarily take place at the Special Housing Unit of the United States Disciplinary Barracks, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, although alternative locations are possible. Under these regulations, the only authorized method of execution would be lethal injection. There are currently nine inmates confined at the Special Housing Unit, all of whom have been convicted of premeditated murder or felony murder.
Until 1961 (last military execution to date), hanging was a sole and official method. Later military introduced electric chair, which was never used. Currently lethal injection is the sole method.
I wonder how long this guy’s execution has been deferred by previous Presidents.
According to the image source for that, it shows Gray after he was convicted. Why does he still have all of his awards and insignia? I thought conviction stripped all of them as part of the sentence.
You know what I am thinking right???
Because it’s not the movies....they take them to the USDB...give them orange to wear in the SHU and if you get out of the SHU presto...you wear UPS brown for awhile and hope for blue.
They take your uniform and are supposed to ship it home. (wink wink)
