McCain Adviser, Phil Gramm, Leaves Campaign

McCain Adviser, Phil Gramm, Leaves Campaign NEW YORK (CBS) ― Phil Gramm, a top adviser to presidential candidate John McCain, is resigning from the role as campaign co-chairman after his comments that the United States had become a "nation of whiners" who constantly complain about the state of the economy.

The former U.S. senator from Texas and past presidential candidate made the remarks earlier this month. McCain immediately distanced himself from the comments, but they have been criticized constantly as McCain tries to show he can help steer the country past its current financial troubles.

Gramm had also suggested that the country was facing a "mental recession" instead of real economic problems. Gramm said in a statement late Friday that he is stepping down as a co-chair of the campaign to "end this distraction."

McCain’s targeted voters — Democrats — can’t handle the truth. So there will be no more of that.

It’s sort of a new paradigm with a fresh start learning curve.

This well describes a bunch of interesting things that are currently happening.

Real Americans change the paradigm if they don't like the existing one. Working within the bounds of reality, of course...while creating the new realities to come.

Honestly, I think this was all political theater.

McCain goes back to the 1980s with Gramm. I think Gramm and the UBS thing was going to become a liability
so they staged this little stunt. yeah... I know... a bit of tinfoil. ;-)

Manchester, huh? I'll meet you at the Black Sheep next time I'm around. Does it enforce a dress code yet? Darn yuppies.

Don't worry, I'm in Illinois.

I don’t think that requires tinfoil at all. From that standpoint, Gramm’s comment was “convenient.” /smashmouth politcal consultant

I have noticed all the Restaurants are full and people are paying up to $100 in someplaces to see Batman movie.......

That demonstrates the wealth gap and irresponsible use of credit in this country as easily as any strength of economy.

As long as there are enough suckers out there, the economy will stay afloat.

Parts of the economy are adjusting after steroid-type growth.

Other parts are doing all right.

Don't believe all the Leftist hype being spewed out there to get the Communist Organizer elected. It's typical election-year BS, except, of course, in 2000, when W tried to bring up the recession that was beginning and the MSM told him, “Hush, you'll ruin the economy talking about it that way” (because they wanted ALgore to win).

Subjective terms.

75% of the state of the economy starts between the ears. when think its bad it does get bad.

The other 25% applies when you realize you've been fooling yourself too long.

Actually this may be the best thing to happen, because now Phil Gramm is free to make whatever comments he wants, and he won’t be tied to the campaign anymore.
