To understand anything, we have to know its history. To understand who stole our culture, we need to take a look at the history of "political correctness."
Early Marxist theory
Before World War I, Marxist theory said that if Europe ever erupted in war, the working classes in every European country would rise in revolt, overthrow their governments and create a new Communist Europe. But when war broke out in the summer of 1914, that didn't happen. Instead, the workers in every European country lined up by the millions to fight their country's enemies. Finally, in 1917, a Communist revolution did occur, in Russia. But attempts to spread that revolution to other countries failed because the workers did not support it.
After World War I ended in 1918, Marxist theorists had to ask themselves the question: What went wrong? As good Marxists, they could not admit Marxist theory had been incorrect. Instead, two leading Marxist intellectuals, Antonio Gramsci in Italy and Georg Lukacs in Hungary (Lukacs was considered the most brilliant Marxist thinker since Marx himself) independently came up with the same answer. They said that Western culture and the Christian religion had so blinded the working class to its true, Marxist class interests, that a Communist revolution was impossible in the West, until both could be destroyed. That objective, established as cultural Marxism's goal right at the beginning, has never changed.
A new strategy
Gramsci famously laid out a strategy for destroying Christianity and Western culture, one that has proven all too successful. Instead of calling for a Communist revolution up front, as in Russia, he said Marxists in the West should take political power last, after a "long march through the institutions" the schools, the media, even the churches, every institution that could influence the culture.....

I do not disagree, yet I think the courts played a larger role.
The important elements to break down our society were found constitutional when they clearly were not.
Progressive income taxation, social security, the entire notion transfer payments, school prayer, abortion, quotas, welfare, etc the list goes on and was only possible with Leftist judges.
Yes it is interesting article historically, but nothing many of us haven’t heard before. The biggest stumbling block to making it acceptable history is that it explicitly acknowledges conspiracies. That kind of information is flatly ignored by most, and outright ridiculed by many “conservative” talk radio hosts. Like it or not, those talkers are very effective gatekeepers of “acceptable” conservative thought, and that hampers finding solutions.
The article offers a solution. It suggests we take the long view as did the cultural Marxists before us. That is, we should patiently work to reclaim our predominance over institutions by replacing theirs with our own.
What makes it difficult to copy their route to success, however, is the equivalent atmosphere that was available to them. Tolerance for their ideas is what “liberals” demanded and got from our cultural guard-dog predecessors, and that allowed their slow take-over of our institutions.
We are definitely not granted that same courtesy (examples: 1. preaching the gospel in Western nations is gradually being outlawed; 2. PC police prevent us from warning others of dangers lest in the process we upset those others’ feelings).
Don’t be ridiculous, cc. I’ve posted many articles and threads that don’t involve the Balkans, just not the low IQ mud-slinging matches that you obviously frequent, cc. Quit slumming it if you miss me so much.
Yes, but only because if you throw enough stuff against the wall, sooner or later some of it sticks -- and that lays the foundation for more of it sticking.
When virtually every underpinning of our culture and society is challenged repeatedly in a courtroom, even if only a tiny fraction of the cases get decided in favor of the socialist agenda, sooner or later those tiny precedents becomes a foothold for more "socialist progress". Until, eventually it all sticks, whether the next judge is a socialist or not, his (or her) decision must be based on precedent or risk being overturned on appeal.
The agenda has always been to defang or outright eliminate the US and Western culture. No one can take on the US militarily or economically however you can do it through exploiting social issues that are taboo to talk about.
Multi-culturalism and diversity propaganda is used to neutralize nationalist sentiment. Hey, you’re now a world citizen!
Multi-culturalism and diversity propaganda is used to neutralize Christianity. You can’t remain a Christian nation when new imports breed like rabbits and spread their religion OR watered down Catholism that’s mixed Santierra and Voodo and liberalized Protestant religion.
Multi-culturalism and diversity propaganda is used to neutralize the offspring of the WW II generation by lowering their birth rates and skyrocketing birth rates of new immigrants who will eventually replace the Constitution that was created by WASP’s with a government that reflects them.
Whereas Mulit-culturalism and diversity is a tool to erase national identity and ethnic identity (among Euro-Americans) Homosexuality is a tool designed to blur FAMILY IDENTITY.
Erase or alter a person’s identity and you can install a new one. (Read any decent book on branding.)
This is why Multi-culturalism and celebrate diversity nonsense is the new “ism” that we must fight.
Think about it, billions have been spent to mold us into celebrating diversity. If it’s so freaking great then why do we have to be propagandized to think so?
Well, does there need to be a billion dollar campaign to convince us that ice cream is yummy? No, of course not. Think about it.
The biggest way in which the left eroded the culture
was through the DENIAL
that there even IS an “American Culture”.
ping
Marxists are the first to call their system ‘Democratic’.
One trend ‘liberalism’ throughout the entire American infrastructure.
Yep. The scumbag Democrats found it easier than they could have ever imagined to connive our culture away from us, the normal, decent, hard-working American families.
Exactly correct.
America has no culture; America is instead a "multiculture". Throw in a dash of silly "diversity is our strength", and you have a recipe for disaster.
I’ve been thinking about ‘culture’ and just what the ‘culture’ was that I grew up in. It’s difficult to ‘identify’ by visuals. It wasn’t about race or religion, ethnicity or ‘tribal’ prejudices.
Part of my time was spent in a Mormon Community about 1958. The little black girl that moved into town and I went to their church and sang like the good Baptists we were and were welcomed and loved and never felt left out.
Most of my childhood, young adulthood were spent in a small West Coast rural community. REDNECKS...so I’m told. My Mexican friends were rednecks too. All I know is EVERYONE said Merry Christmas for a month and everyone was included, the few Jewish families enjoyed it and I learned to appreciate a Minorah. Everyone was included as long as you could be civil and obey the law. We respected our elders and had manners. Our parents and the lady next door always knew where we were.
I never experienced bigotry or prejudice and everyone spoke the same language, except when we wanted to make other ethnic families feel included and we learned to greet them in their native language, as a courtesy. I only saw bigotry after marrying into a very ‘ethnic’ family from Los Angeles.
You understand it when you’ve been the victim of it.
A farmer or butcher who sold bad food was out of business. We knew where our food came from. Mostly from our own back yards. We helped our neighbors. People pulled their own weight. When a businessman gave you his word, if he didn’t keep up his end, he was out of business. We knew what laws were and we obeyed them or at least encouraged lawfulness. We discussed things like ethics, freedom, fairness in SCHOOL. Oh! MY. And EVERYONE flew the flag...the SAME flag.
After school we took our guns and went hunting and NO ONE ever got hurt.
That’s the American ‘culture’ I grew up in. I miss it! It just didn’t get any better than that and I was lucky to grow up when and where I did. I don’t see that future for any of our children again.
I heard some brainless twits (2 adult women, one senior high girl) discussing schools in the area,
and ALL of them were using ONE criteria to judge how good a school was -
you guessed it - “diversity”.
As Boortz says, when that word is mentioned, throw all sense of individualism out the window. Everyone is to be judged by the GROUP that they belong to, not who they are as an individual person.
Of course they are -- the sound of that word "democratic" makes them sound mainstream and noble -- and legitimate.
Wouldn't the fact that so many Hollywood writers are homosexuals have more to do with how television treats this subject than "cultural Marxism"?
The Frankfurt School may be part of the reason for the changes but it's only part.
More than that: people who go into the arts and academia are already alienated from mainstream and business culture. Ideologies aren't the driving force -- they're a rationalizations for what people have come to feel.
If you couldn't wait to get out of your small town and move to New York or Los Angeles, you're going to have a different take on things from people who never left.
Beyond that: affluence changes people. It would be more surprising if people today with all their resources and opportunities lived and thought exactly as people did in the 1950s.
If you celebrate individualism, and the pursuit of happiness it would be surprising if you got duty, discipline, renunciation, and self-sacrifice.
The idea of ‘workers controlling the factory’ is indeed ‘democratic’. That doesn’t mean it’s the best way to function. The United States is not a Democracy its a Constitutional Republic.
A most timely thread. Here’s my perspective.
The prototype for our present day culture war was Alexander the Great’s attempt at Hellenizing the world. He died young, but his successors carried it on. One of his successors, Antiochus Epiphanes, ran into a major snag in Palestine. Devout, conservative Jews denounced it, while liberal Jews, the majority, were for it.
Thus, in Palestine began the world’s first culture war, and the world’s first purely RELIGIOUS persecution. The book of Daniel foretold these events. Christ used that prophecy in Daniel as a prototype which he projected into the future as an endtime culture war and persecution - which he called “the great tribulation,” Matt. 24:15,21.
The endtime culture war that Daniel and Christ prophesied are upon us. Its not a Greek Hellenistic vs Judaism culture war, its a Marxist vs Christian one. Gramske specifically singled out Christian culture as their target.
Correction: The endtime culture war that Daniel and Christ prophesied {is] upon us.
Yes, and no.
Yes, there are many Hollywood writers who are gay, but there have been for a very long time -- that has likely not changed in the last 60 years of TV & film. However, "gay themes" were not acceptable to the public for the first 50 of those 60 years so they weren't presented in TV shows or films. Sponsors wouldn't allow themselves and their products to be associated with what was then socially considered to be "perversity" by the mainstream.
But the audience, not the writers, were the ones who gradually "changed" and made it "acceptable". The sponsors then saw a market niche and exploited it.
Of course, there was also the "opening of the barn door" when Network censors were ridiculed out of existence in the late 60's & early 70's, etc, and the same happened with films...plus Vatican II in the mid-60's made the the threat Roman Catholic boycott of films and TV shows less likely, etc.
All in all, the walls came tumbling down in the late 1960's and early 1970's, and cultural gates were wide open for "change".
Actually, it isn't. Don't know what your background is, but if you ever saw a communist country in action, you wouldn't likely to say that.
The "workers" never actually do "control the factory", the Party & the government does. The Party & government tells it what to produce, how much to produce, controls the access to raw materials, the staff, the output and the distribution of the goods. The "worker" is just a replaceable cog in the wheel, not "a free person". Real democracy requires that there be "free people ("demos") in order to have "democracy".
However, your point about the US being a Constitutional Republic is true.
