WASHINGTON Politically speaking, Susan Speakman is a different kind of evangelical.
Mrs. Speakman, 59, a pastor and educator at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville, Pa., an activist evangelical church southwest of Pittsburgh, backs Senator Barack Obama in the presidential race. Along with her 23-year-old son, Stephen, she supports Mr. Obama because of his stands on the Iraq war and matters of social justice. The two of them plan to spread the word in their community and beyond.
What caught my attention early on was his comment that we dont want red states and blue states, but we want to find reconciliation and rapprochement with folks, said Mrs. Speakman, who changed her party affiliation to Democratic from Republican this year to vote for Mr. Obama in the Pennsylvania primary. I really object to the other approach divide and conquer, isolate and demonize the opposition. I try to engage the other side and try to find ways we can bring the values of the kingdom of God into the experience of humanity.

They think we are idiots. I love it.
And I question how any bona fide evangelical Christian could even think of supporting Obama or the Democrats. Who do they think is in political bed with the bigoted haters who challenge Christianity in the courts, education, and media?
You don’t vote for people who’s political bedfellows challenge the very essence of your faith, plain and simple.
An Evangelical Presbyterian Church?
I don’t know of one person in my church who would vote for that Marxist.
Yea, like murdering unborn babies.
He’s welcome to have them. Evangelicals = Big govt socialists who claim their theft is mandated through Jesus’ teachings. The GOP is better off without such company.
Another “christian” like his Obama’s beloved Nation of Islam Reverend Wright? Sure she voted for Bush!
Can we ask this lady if she has heard about Obama’s stonewalling an Illinois legislative initiative to change the state law ( when he was an Ill senator)to concur with the national bill that outlawed infanticide of infants ( after aborted in late term abortions). the issue was connected to Christ Hospital in chicago, affliated with Obama’s former church. Rev Wright was on the board of that hospital. Bill Bennett had the nurse on his radio show today who used to work at that hospital and broke the story.
The words “ social justice” just drives me nuts.
The guy’s got the mark of the Black Liberation Theology beast on his forehead and he’s out trying to ‘court’ evangelicals?? How friggin stupid do they think conservatives are?
Reverend Wright's Black Liberation Theology is a revolutionary Marxist ideology masquerading as religion. In fact, even 'Screwy Louie' Farrakhan's movement subscribes to BLT, as does/did the new and old Black Panther Parties. And, for that matter, did Bill Ayers' Weather Underground. All of these seemingly unrelated things are revolutionary communist in nature. To be more specific, they're Maoist. For all the charming 'details', visit my FR home page. Feel free to link to it to help get the info out to other normal Americans. Actually, I think even the dopiest, most deluded democrat would even be alarmed if they saw this indisputable evidence shoved right in their faces.
No because these people are mentally defective, or demonized or something. Maybe they're just really arrogant. It's really funny to see them thrash around as if they have some kind of authority to form opinion.
Bingo
Why would they possibly ... oh!
Case in point: "she supports Mr. Obama because of his stands on the Iraq war and matters of social justice.
That last phrase "social justice" is a dead giveaway. Who wants to place a wager of either a steak dinner or a six pack of non-Miller beer that we're looking at atheists or Unitarians?
Dang, that was what I was going to post.
