A military shooting demonstration in southeast France on Sunday left 16 people wounded, including children, when real bullets were used instead of blank ones, officials said.

People have been killed with blanks, too.
*sigh* 5 steeeeenking seconds. I can’t buy a break tonight...
RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET
Looks to me like this soldier didn't follow EITHER Rule 1 or Rule 2.
The more I think about this, the more I think it was not an accident.
Yep my BS flag is at full mast on that one !
Blank adapters needed for blank firing or modified movie guns that will prevent a real cartridge from all but destroying the firearm. For dog and pony demonstrations with blanks we would remove flash hiders on our M60’s and M4’s etc and insert a empty brass case with the primer cup hole drilled out too 1/32’d so it would give enough back pressure too cycle in automatic etc and replace the flash hiders so a real deal look was obtained yet blank blocks were built into all magazines and belts of M60 ammo were inspected carefully before the firepower demonstrations......
A blank adapter does the same thing yet is visible and external object clearly attached too the barrel and any LIVE round will do massive damage too the end of the barrel if accidently used .
I would like too hear more on this as something isn’t quite right here from the read provided !
Strange ..........
That is because the press thinks you can just change between blanks at freewill, or be evil and insert a couple of live rounds deep into the magazine. Whenever you read a story about guns, you need to understand that the press gets their info from Hollywood and what they think is the truth.
Goes without saying that presstitutes aren’t pistoleros !.......:o)
“Possible terrorism? Wouldn’t surprise me, sad to say...”
I didn’t get the shooter’s name.
Lemme guess. "Pierre"? or "Mohammed"? Hmmm. "Jacques" or "Hussein"? Hmmm.
There's a reason they didn't print it.
Another point - there is no recoil with blank cartridges, A live 5.56x45 round has enough recoil that the shooter would immediately know it wasn't a blank.
Yep, something smells.
All military weapons have blank adapters so you can use live and blanks in the same gun. There is no military I know that has special guns to shoot blanks for exercises it would be a terrible waste of money. However, usually with the adapter in place(unless they have changed things lately)the guns won’t fire live ammo without endangering the shooter.
I was thinking that too. This sounds like terrorism to me.
You'd know. Blanks don't produce anywhere near the recoil of live ammunition. This guy should have known as well.
Sixteen hurt at French army show

It sure seems mighty odd that there were so many injured.
You would think after the first person was shot, the shooter would stop seeing that there was something seriously wrong...
Even if the shooter thought he had blanks in his rifle it would never be pointed in the direction of another person. This was Murder.
When I had funeral duty during the Vietnam War, we used M-1 Garands without the blank firing adapters. They will fire one cartridge and then stay chambered. You’d have to drop the rifle to the crook of your left elbow and cycle the action with your left palm (incidentally, this can hurt like hell because the handle was meant for the index first two fingers on your right hand). Point is they will all fire - at least once.....
They probably used “exploding, sparking” bullets.
Of course it might all be very easily and believably be explained by remembering that this is after all, the FRENCH! Why do you think they need the Foreign Legion?
Prayers for the injured.
But that said....
Has France surrendered to itself yet ?
