"It's just a shame. Tim was a regular guy with that perpetual smile he wore naturally all the time. He loved life and got everything he could out of it. Whether it was at dinner here in Florida while his son was taking golf lessons, or on the set of Meet The Press, Tim was always the same with me: genuine. He never condescended to anyone and was the consummate professional. He will be hard to replace. He was the closest thing there was at any of the networks to an objective journalist."

The idiots at MSNBC had to be causing him mucho stress.

The hyperbole coming out of MSNBC today has been sickening. Peggy Noonan ( the queen of hyperbole) actually said that “America will never be the same.” Think about how rediculous that really is...

Limbaugh may have read some of Russerts non-political books from the sound of it - they were very good. Rush even had Russert on his show to discuss his last book.

Peggy Noonan ( the queen of hyperbole) actually said that America will never be the same. Think about how rediculous that really is... Well, she's in the same business Russert was - so she can be forgiven a slightly myopic view of things. It would be uncontroversial to say that American journalism will never be the same.

Agreed, agreed, agreed.
All I'm saying is that Rush was the catalyst that activated conservative sentiment into action after decades of lethargy. While I acknowledge the contributions of Goldwater, Reagan and Buckley, truth is, Rush brought the conservative message home for millions in ways that our genuinely conservative leadership never was able to consistently articulate. For that, he is outstanding and deserves a place in history.
Given that, yes, all other conservative websites, radio hosts, blogs and media people are certainly welcome...but they definitely came to the party late.

>>>>> ... 20 years ago, Conservatism had NO voice of mass propagation...You couldn't be more wrong. 20 years ago we had the greatest conservative voice of the last century, or two, speaking out on issues from the highest political and policy levels --- President Ronald Reagan.
How soon some forget. You best stick to DJaying.

You are so correct. Tony Snow is suffering so and even while he lives the left is being vile and disgusting against him.

There's a reason she hasn't been 'invited to the beatification'. She recently spoke of '18 Million Cracks' in the Glass Ceiling........ it's very, very suspicious that the ONE 'crack' in her evil facade which showed she was a 'vulnerable' candidate was placed there by none other than Tim Russert....happenstance, coincidence? Methinks SOME of the MSM may be thinking this is a little TOO familiar happening with people who have crossed the Clintons....

It's a pity that when Rush dies (please live a long and even more prosperous life Rush!) there will not be a single member of the MSM which will honor him as he Rush has honored Russert. Don't count on it. Remember when Charlton Heston recent died. The mouths at DU slammed him. I don't think any of them will have much good to say about Rush. It will be "right winged so and so Rush Limbaugh." They will celebrate.

Something tells me the left wing main stream media won't be as civil to Rush at his passing.
That's the difference between the left and the right.

I saw the dancing live and in person in Sodom on the Sound (seattle) back on 9-1-1 up close and personal. The parts of the city that are muzzie were doing big time celebrating. Their leaders got out and had to get them to settle down thinking they might get attacked my angry citizens. I remember it well. I was the only person in my neighborhood who daily flew the Stars & Stripes. Then everyone put one out. In a month, all were gone except mine and the left was back to being the left.

Rush has long been a Russert fan. It was Rush’s imprimatur that got me to watch MTP. And Russert was better than the other net journalists. I know that’s not saying much, but what Russert did, he did well ... even if we didn’t agree with him.
Nonetheless, he was very much and very obviously a loving family man, and that trumps politics every day of the week.

Forget? Never. I'm old enough to remember the gas lines during the Carter years, and the sense of hope that Reagan gave us. However, read the post again. MASS propagation. Or, dissemination, if you prefer. Reagan was the lone voice in the wilderness, against the cacaphony of the mainstream media; it took him to remind America of what we were, and what we could, and should, be. Save the Reagan rhetoric for a non-believer; I served proudly under the Honorable Mr. Reagan. Pushing your crass insult aside, if it weren't for some of us DJs, you'd be hearing Frank Sinatra on your AM radio instead of Conservative-skewed programming.

More people passed Reagan’s casket in paying their last respects than any president since JFK.
Liberals celebrating in the streets at Rush’s death would mean that he did his job well.

Russert was the kind of Democrat that is sadly lacking these days. A patriot.
