Rush does very few live interviews (I remember Mark Levin’s and some with the VP) so he obviously liked the book and the man.

Yep, I’m just past my 50s... every day a treasure.

Very few tasteless posts at this news; I’m proud of FR.

"Watch ye therefore, because ye know not what hour your Lord will come. But know this ye, that if the goodman of the house knew at what hour the thief would come, he would certainly watch, and would not suffer his house to be broken open. Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come." Matthew 24:42-44

"Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour." Matthew 25:13

"For yourselves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall so come, as a thief in the night." 1 Thessalonians 5:2

"Have in mind therefore in what manner thou hast received and heard: and observe, and do penance. If then thou shalt not watch, I will come to thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know at what hour I will come to thee." Apocalypse 3:3

We must always have higher standards than those of the Daily Kos because we have a higher calling to a God who loves us and wants us to love back. But that does not mean we have to co-operate with evil, say abortion and homosexuality.

If Olbermann hosts Meet the Press, I don’t think many will show up as guests. Maybe I’m wrong, but only the far left seem to tolerate this jacka**.

I love when Russert tells the story about buying his dad a car. I had forgotten that. I got a bit teary eyed as well.

Question for everybody:

The network news just reported that, in 1998(?), Time magazine named Russert one of "The Hundred Most Influential People In The World".

Whether he was or wasn't, I can't say.

But, still, should a reporter or journalist be considered "influential"? Is that their job -- to be "influential"?

In my estimation, if a news reporter is among the 100 most influential people in the world, something has gone terribly wrong.

The 100 most influential people in the world should be news-makers. And news reporters should not be news-makers...

Yes, you're correct about sudden death...horrible. And only 58 years old. Puts everything back into perspective doesn't it?

I've been thinking about this alot lately. I'm 50, and I'm so blessed in my life that I've gotten down on myself for being upset about news events I have absolutely no conrol over. So you know what I did two weeks ago? I turned off my TV. I get my news, when I want it and decide what I read, from FreeRepublic.

I decided that life is just too short to be pissed off all the time.

Nice tribute. I didn’t know Brooks, but watched from Spivak forward. I remember Kalb being sharp but too brittle; Wallace biding time; Utley underrated, took a lot of cues from Brinkley...

I thought he could be a very sharp and direct interviewer - he wouldn’t let people get away with too much bs. Man, he was younger than my dad too. Poor guy. He accomplished a lot in his 58 years.

I think the usual things like shotgun blasts and plane crashes are much easier to engineer than some “Kabbalah death curse ritual”.

That being said, I wouldn’t put anything past those two and their associates.

It’s like saying being on the cover of Time Magazine is influential. It’s the exposure involved with Meet The Press.
