No word of how he got it-Team Barry isn't actually leaking to dKos, is it?-and naturally he misunderstands Jim Geraghty's point about Obama's place of birth, which would have been relevant not with respect to his "Americanness" but whether he was constitutionally qualified to run as a natural-born citizen. But here it is.
Update: Not that it matters for purposes of addressing Geraghty's concerns, but Flip notes that the posted document is a certification of birth, which is slightly different from a birth certificate.
Probably.
But I don't think they would have written "African" for race in 1961. This was even before "black" was used. If it was referring to his nationality, since there are plenty of people who are "African" who are not black, they would have written "Kenyan" rather than "African".
"Kenya" didn't become independent until at least two years later.
Maybe "African" was regarded as an alternative to "Negro" which had negative connotations with many people.
§338-17.7 Establishment of new certificates of birth, when. ...
(b) When a new certificate of birth is established under this section, it shall be substituted for the original certificate of birth. Thereafter, the original certificate and the evidence supporting the preparation of the new certificate shall be sealed and filed. Such sealed document shall be opened only by an order of a court of record.
Yes, but it had a signature and it had an appropriate stamp on it. This one has neither. There is no way it could get a passport. They would reject it in a nanosecond.
I don’t know if this helps but I have a birth certificate from the State of Hawaii. I will not post it because I won’t put that kind of private info out there but here are the details.
(by the way, it is my personal BC)
The year of birth is 1968.
The name of the document (on top): “Certificate of Live Birth”
Contains a stamped, raised, official Hawaii seal on the bottom.
Is Black in color....type is white.
Contains a File number on top right corner.
States in left top corner “State of Hawaii Department of Health Research and statistics Office”
Has the usual BC info, names of parents, address, ages, but DOES NOT ASK for Race of MOTHER nor Father nor Baby.
BINGO!!
Want to hear something that would really hurt Barry: if his race was “white” on his original birth certificate then he’d have to change his race to “black” for it to reflect what he wants to be............
He may have changed his race to black in order to get into college easier....... if that’s the case he definitely wouldn’t want that to be known!!!
Obama and I were born the same year. My BC says “Colored” for race of the parents. I seriously doubt it would say “African”, even for Hawaii. Negro, maybe, but not African.
so it's not even a copy let alone the original
WE NEED A HAWAIIAN FREEPER BORN IN 1961 TO WHITE OUT THEIR INFORMATION AND COPY WHAT THE ORIGINAL FORM LOOKED LIKE IN THAT TIME FRAME.
YOU DO NEED A SEALED CERTIFIED COPY OF A BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO GET A PASSPORT.
THIS CERTIFICATE LOOKS LIKE AN AUTO TITLE. SO IT WAS PERHAPS A DOCTORED DEAL TO STIR OUR POT WHICH IT HAS DONE.
WHAT ABOUT PASSPORTGATE WHERE OBAMA’S FOLKS WERE LOOKING AT MCCAIN’S AND CLINTON’S PASSPORTS.
DIDN’T WE FIND OUT LATER IT WAS OBAMA’S BOYS DOING THE LOOKING. WHY?
Good point CK
Only if that seal at the top is raised, not merely printed. Be interesting to see what the blank form used for the Hawaii Certification of Birth looks like. Generally the raised seal is somewhere other than top center, and since it's put on by hand, is generally not that perfectly aligned or centered.
States change birth certificate forms. What you got in 1968 isn’t necessarily the same as the form used in 1961.
Just notice the stock it is printed on.
Especially when you combine it with people trying to legitimize crack-head Larry Sinclair, the "embarrasing" picture of Obama on a bike, and the "controversy" over whether he's eligible to be president or not.
At this rate, these same people will be scratching their heads in November wondering how Obama got elected.
That’s probably the issue date.
Two contract employees of the State Department were fired and a third person was disciplined for accessing passport records of Sen. Barack Obama without a need to do so, State Department officials confirmed to NBC News
A monitoring system was tripped when an employee accessed the records of a high-profile individual, a department official told NBC News. When the monitoring system is tripped, we immediately seek an explanation for the records access. If the explanation is not satisfactory, the supervisor is notified.
Keith Olbermann said:
Does this surprise anyone of us that has followed the Bush administration for all these years?
Statement from Obama campaign:
This is an outrageous breach of security and privacy, even from an Administration that has shown little regard for either over the last eight years. Our governments duty is to protect the private information of the American people, not use it for political purposes. This is a serious matter that merits a complete investigation, and we demand to know who looked at Senator Obamas passport file, for what purpose, and why it took so long for them to reveal this security breach.
Look at my post (#84)
I am sure any changes made from 1961 to 1968 did not include completely changing the document.
The document posted as his Birth Certificate looks alot more modern than mine. I am pretty sure that the BC’s looked pretty much the same in 61 and 68.
BINGO INDEED! Playing the feeding trough race card..
When you’re Always Right, you’re always right, but when you are wrong... well, you are still Always Right :>)
Not having it in front of me, I cannot vouch for whether it had a signature and a stamp, but I do not remember it having one. It was a replacement for her lost certificate that we got about 10 years ago.
(b) The department shall not permit inspection of public health statistics records, or issue a certified copy of any such record or part thereof, unless it is satisfied that the applicant has a direct and tangible interest in the record. The following persons shall be considered to have a direct and tangible interest in a public health statistics record:Does this mean that Dick Cheney can request a copy of Obama's birth certificate? Aren't they cousins? :-)[snip]
(5) A person having a common ancestor with the registrant;

The Stock would have some watermarks on them two. Making it harder to duplicate.
