This is alarming. There has been a lot of talk on various jihadi forums regarding a nuclear strike by AQ.

The problem is, Bush has done a piss poor job of advertising the response that would occur if there ever was a nuclear attack on the US. Obliteration of Tehran, Waziristan and a few other sites ought to be the response, I don’t care who claims responsibility. These jihadis think terror is a one way street and no one has given them any notion otherwise. PC will contribute to the next attack. Our fathers didn’t have any qualms about threatening to kill 100 million people in response to an attack on the US. This generation does, and the result is our potential demise.
Impotent fantasies.
Don’t be so sure. All it would take would be a 30 kiloton device to wipe out a major metropolitain area.
The Russian’s have conveniently lost a number of those.Iwonder where they went.
The good news is that America's imperial strategy is working: with every passing day, there is a larger number of business-class ARABS whose prosperity would be destroyed if al Qaeda pulled off any such thing.
No need, they are already there.
Yes, I agree. I do worry about the other 10% to 20%. As should we all.
Perfect knowledge would be a wondrous thing. Sadly, it is a big guessing game............and they do know how to “game”.
I understand.
I’m not a game player, though.
I’m optimistic because of:
1. The power of prayer.
2. Our great military.
I feel greatly concerned with:
1. The possibility of sleeper cells in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
2. The possibility of lone jihadis in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
3. Our porous borders.
Next Congress needs to start a program where each and every nation signs (voluntary) an agreement much like diplomatic agreements. Spelling out what goes and what don’t. (Reciprocately.) Most would be happy to co-operate. Get tough with those who talk tough.
“The problem is, Bush has done a piss poor job of advertising the response that would occur if there ever was a nuclear attack on the US.”
Oh really? How do you know that?
Remember...just because it hasn’t been leaked to the NYSlimes, doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. (wink)
We have not been attacked on our soil since 9/11/2001, so this Administration is doing something right and it is about time that President Bush is given a little credit..ESPECIALLY AROUND HERE!!
I am sick and tired of the Bush bashing! Can you give it a damn rest? It sounds like an echo chamber of the leftist dummies around here sometimes!!
(end of rant)
The bottom line is that a nuclear fission weapon within the technological capabilities of all but the US and Russia is limited in weight to a minimum of between 1,000 and 1,500 lbs, and is the size of a large plastic trash dumpster.
However, this is not a practical weapon for ground delivery, as it would give off a significant radiation signature, which would be very obvious at our ports of entry.
The other alternative is a “radiation bomb”, that is radiological material blown into a cloud with high explosives. It does not create a nuclear reaction. But it has an inherent problem.
Light weight particles that would be carried great distances have short half-lives. Heavier particles fall to Earth quickly, limiting the area of contamination.
A dangerous particle that was created at Chernobyl was radioactive Iodine. Its half-life is two weeks. But from the moment of its creation, the clock was ticking. So if some terrorists got their hands on a quantity, they would have to use it almost immediately or it would be decayed and no longer radioactive.
But if they got a quantity of uranium or plutonium, it is so heavy that the vast majority would just be within a few feet of were the bomb had gone off.
Thank you.
The next Congress? The next deomcrap controlled Congress? That Congress?
That Congress will sign any agreement to prostrate their (and our) arses to be available to any and all jihadies that want to stick it to us.
I don't want to be an alarmist but if Al Queda has those weapons you can be sure they are here already.
By the way I seem to recall a report taken fro the KGB files that reported that their agents had caches of nuclear Backpack bombs stashed around the country.
As far as I recall No one has proved otherwise.
Bush turned out to be far less than we hoped. He had a short period where he rose to the occasion, after 9/11. He really inspired. Turned out he had good speechwriters, the ones who wrote "axis of evil". He had a great military, and cleaned up in Afghanistan. But he let the namby-pambies lead him by the nose, and many of the good things went bad.
Iran should be under new management by now. That is what Iraq was all about.
Saudi Arabia should be begging us to let them keep their kleptocracy, not sneering in our direction.
Jimmy Carter said Chavez was fairly elected (he wasn't) and Bush said OK. Past presidents threatened global war rather than allow communists to gain key footholds in the Americas.
He is the absolute worst spokesman for his cause that ever existed. And, with that failing, he hires a Scott McClellan! Great management.
He let the CIA and State Dept. stay in the hands of Clinton stooges. Oh, and Justice Dept., too.
Campeon and Ramos. Thanks, Jorge.
Two more words: Immigration reform. Need I say more.
The list of failures and mistakes is lengthy. It did not have to be this way. He has picked bad people, been ineffective as a speaker and a leader, and made his own bad decisions, on things like wanting to be buddies with Ted Kennedy and on policies such as war strategy, global warming and dealing with liberal attacks on Gitmo. He fought hard for Specter and Chafee.
All that said, Bush is not in my mind a failure. He is a muddler; he has muddled through. So much more could have been done. Where he could have done serious harm, as with immigration reform, we were able to stop him. But the big fights will have to take place later, and will be much more difficult, because of the decisions made by Bush. But he is nonetheless far superior to having had Kerry or Gore in charge. That is something, I guess.
Don't like my opinion of Bush? Too bad.
watch the way the nuclear cloud moves,
and drive perpendicular.
An al-Queda Strike on is nearing; it is the elevation of the sixth Iman to the Presidency of the United States of America.
From now until November, we are the safest at any time in history. If Obama is elected after that, we will be decidedly unsafe.
