Popular Vote Watch: Puerto Rico Democratic Primary LIVE Thread
CNN (and others) ^

Posted on 05/31/2008 10:40:14 PM PDT by SilvieWaldorfMD

Today is Sunday, June 1st and the Puerto Rico primary voting takes place from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. ET.

Welcome to the only forum on the web in the mainland United States (that I know of!) monitoring LIVE all the details, voting, exit polling and results for today’s Puerto Rico Democratic primary! Many thanks to Jim Robinson and all of you at FreeRepublic.com for your support!

Will Hillary’s popular vote tally move up substantially after today’s primary? After all, there are over 2 million Puerto Ricans eligible to vote, and there’s usually an 80-85% percent voting turnout on the island during different elections. Will this primary define whether she stays….. or whether she says ‘Sayonara!’? As Yogi Berra once said: “It’s not over until the fat lady sings”, right?

Join us LIVE as we follow the island’s news media and other outlets. Also, our deepest thanks to our main source in Puerto Rico, Freeper “cll”, for his input, analysis and important information throughout the past few weeks. We will be getting analysis and other tidbits of information straight from his mouth today, as well as from the mouths of other island residents who might join us later.

According to the Puerto Rican media, CNN will be the only network to have access to exit polling. The network decided to foot the entire bill, which will run in the neighborhood of $100,000, after its National Election Pool partners initially decided against splitting the costs.

I’m still trying to locate a radio station on the island that might be transmitting a live streaming audio feed in English. No such luck, as of yet. My best advice is to monitor the CNN site link, and we Spanish-speakers monitoring the other stations will translate for you any last minute and/or breaking details. Also, monitor CNN itself and the Fox News Channel since they will have live reporters on the scene.

Starting at 11:00 a.m. ET, join CNN’s continuing coverage of the Puerto Rico primary on “Late Edition” with Wolf Blitzer.

At 2:00 p.m. ET, Geraldo Rivera will be LIVE on the Fox News Channel from Puerto Rico.

Evenin’ there, Nan! You’re a late night owl like me, eh?

I think Hill will do very well today — and she’ll take all of those popular votes amassed in Puerto Rico all the way to the DNC convention!

G’nite, M’Lady!

Hillary Clinton can net a 1 million vote in Puerto Rico but it will have zero effect on the race. Very few Super Delegates will stop for even a second and reflect on Hillary Clinton win in a commonwealth that does not vote in the General Elections. After the DNC voted on Florida and Michigan today and Hillary Clinton got a net gain of only 24 delegates then it is OVER for her.

Obama is the democrat nominee and McCain is the next President of the United States.

Music Blaring, Hillary Clinton Rolls Through Puerto Rico on Flat Bed

CATANO, PUERTO RICO -- Hillary Clinton hit the campaign trail in traditional Puerto Rican style, on the back of a flat bed, trailing another truck with enormous speakers blaring Hillary Clinton campaign propaganda.

A woman on a loud speaker urges voters to turnout. The woman can be heard saying, "Esta es la caravana de tu proxima presidente, Hillary Clinton!" (This is the caravan of the next president, Hillary Clinton!).

The travelling [sic] press stands, holding on to railings on another flat bed truck just in front of Clinton, who waives to onlookers. The song that plays most of the time is by Willie Colon, a famous Latin pop star who wrote a song especially for Clinton, called "Hillary Clinton for Presidenta."

The streets of Catano, where Clinton kicked off the canvassing, were eerily quiet. Only a handful of people stood in the streets of this lower income community to greet Clinton.

The caravan is making its way to the town of Tora Baja. More people line the streets and cars slow down and honk at the sight of Clinton, who stands shaking her hips to the sound of the music. Although the traveling press has not seen anything like this along the trail, we have six more hours to go.

(long pause)

HAHAHEHEHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA! I want video!

The best part? This is CBS News Reporting

I like this viewer comment about the Obama jingle:

que musica horrible y porqueria. pensaba votar por el pero ya no, al escuchar esta porqueria de 'musica' ghetto y de caserio. Hillary tendra mi voto ahora.

Translated by Google as: that horrible music and crap. I thought the vote but no longer, to hear this porqueria of 'music' ghetto and hamlet. Hillary will have my vote now.
