If Staten Island Republicans can't find a candidate to replace GOP Rep. Vito Fossella in Congress, radio talk-show host Curtis Sliwa says he'd think about running.
"I'm sure that you will be able to find a well known or well qualified candidate, with a distinguished record of public service," Sliwa said in a letter to borough GOP chairman John Friscia today. "If however the party is unable to, if you think it would be of help, I might be willing to be considered as a possible candidate."
For the full text of Sliwa's letter, check out Tom Wrobleski's "Polit.bureau" blog.
The borough GOP has been struggling to find a candidate to run for Fossella's seat. State Sen. Andrew Lanza (R-Staten Island), the top candidate of many in the party, is still mulling the race over.
I would love to this is guy in Congress.
No dice. Sliwa has an apartment in Manhattan and a house in the Poconos.
PS. You can't fix Amy Winehouse, but you can get an infection trying.

Dude... Man, that’s... just... I look at that and I.... just... I mean that’s not even... y’know... it’s... it’s... I just... I... dude.
You don’t HAVE to live in the district just the state. I wouldn’t give a damn where my congressman lived so long as he voted to my liking.
This would be interesting.
He doesn’t have to live in the district to run. He needs to move into it if he should win before he is sworn in to take office.
Too bad he’s pro-”choice,” at least last I heard.

He and I talked about that last winter (our August). It would be inaccurate to describe him as “pro choice”.

He’d make a great Congressman, for sure.
I’d prefer to see him on a VP ticket of, say, Ollie North / Curtis Sliwa.
I had the privilege of Patrolling with Curtis in Auckland last year: he is the “real deal”. And when there was an assault in progress, he was the first man in, to break it up.
“He and I talked about that last winter (our August). It would be inaccurate to describe him as pro choice.”
Maybe he changed his position. What is his position on the life issue?
