Obama Grilled on Ties to Pro-Palestinian Professor by FOXNews.com Thursday, May 22, 2008
A persistent questioner at a campaign stop Thursday grilled Barack Obama on his ties to a professor with pro-Palestinian views, prompting Obama to speak at some length against guilt by association and about his support for the Jewish community.
The at-times heated exchange occurred during a town hall event held at a synagogue in Boca Raton, Fla. The questioner focused on Obamas relationship to Rashid Khalidi, a professor of Arab studies at Columbia University who has drawn fire for some of his criticisms of Israel.
Obama responded by saying he has met Khalidi and spoken with him in an academic context, when Obama was teaching at the University of Chicago.
He is not one of my advisers. Hes not one of my foreign policy people, Obama said. He is a respected scholar, although he vehemently disagrees with a lot of Israels policy.
Obama then objected to the suggestion that his contacts with Khalidi mean he shares Khalidis views.
Part of my philosophy
is I believe in listening to people even when I disagree with them, Obama said. And part of the reason that the Jewish community in Chicago is so close to me is because they know that on many occasions Ive spoken out vigorously against anti-Semitism, even in my own community, even when its not convenient.

> he’s thin skinned......
I prefer to think of it as a thin veneer.
His community. Exclusive aren't we. He isolates himself while at the same time throwing his "community" under the bus. I thought his community was 300 million. What a defective and silly ass.
Thin skin, short fuse, and easily flustered.
Nd all his pals are creeps.
He had anti-semitism in his own church. I don’t think he said to stop it once.
And here's why.
Rashid Khalidi, an adviser and mouthpiece of the PLO:
"...In the 1970s, when Khalidi taught at a university in Beirut, he often spoke to reporters on behalf of Yasser Arafat's Palestine Liberation Organization. In the early 1990s, he advised the Palestinian delegation during peace negotiations. Khalidi now occupies a prestigious professorship of Arab studies at Columbia...."
Allies of Palestinians see a friend in Barack Obama
Obama's list of dubious people grows.
[prompting Obama to speak at some length against guilt by association’
What’s the old saying, “Birds of a feather, flock together”?
So Obama opposes the views of his own advisors? A case of paying someone to tell you what you don’t want to hear? I think now... How seriously stupid this man, thinks Americans are....
Just an honest question here: when might it have been "not convenient" to speak out against anti-Semitism?

Google each name together with Obama & see what comes up.

Yeah!
I’ve always found it’s intelligent to hang around crooked Muzzie mobsters like Rezco, crazed rascist phoney preachers like Muslim Wright, and terrorist bombers like William Ayers.....
He “disagreed” with them?
The question is now, is there ANY person he associates with who is not a subversive or a terrorist or a supporter of either?
I saw another thread awhile ago that said McCain had refused the endorsement of some Minister.
Didn’t read about it though.
You hang out with who you like, or who benefits you - if you are of that type of person.
But... but... but... Isn't it Obama's campaign strategy to use "guilt by association" to associate McCain with President Bush? Time to denounce him for that - he'll back off of it in a heartbeat...
I’d like to see conservative 527s or Republicans put many those relations into a TV ad, a compendium of Obama bad-guy associates.
That’s the ‘short list’, right?
