Somewhere in the 1970's, an ardent environmentalist came up with the idea of reversing the child tax credit. That is, your income taxes would be increased for each child you had. The idea was that such a disincentive for having children would decrease to population (good) for the environment and be good for children because only wealthy families, able to adequately care for and educate the youngsters. As I recall, the idea was poorly received by all minorities (generally poorer then the white majority) and by anti-abortion groups.

Thankfully, this idea never gained any support. However, with global warming being the new religion on the block, someone is bound to resurrect it. Bad ideas never die, they only smell that way.

Typical PhD. I had one twenty years ago that said the exact same thing. He went on for about 40 minutes on how unhappy children made people, how he was so happy he had none, all of his friends secretly wished that they had never had children, and that every parent, if they were honest, would admit the same thing.

At the time I thought the guy was a real POS. Since then I’ve had two children and I KNOW he’s a POS. My children bring me great joy daily, like nothing else in my life.

I’m now 42 and I frankly regret not having had more children. And that’s the advice I will give any young couple.

I think libs hate children, because they all have their own Peter Pan syndrome and see the children as direct competition.

You will note that the very existence of a "Happiness and It's Causes" conference indicates that 1) There is entirely too much grant money available, and 2) Liberal, elitist, arrogant, Leftist college professors themselves feel miserable, and need to project it upon others.

If you need to brain-chew "happiness" on an intellectual level, brother, you ain't even in the same zipcode as Happiness, and probably not even the same timezone. I am a peaceable man, but this bozo makes me want to B-slap him silly, and then explain to him what a sad childhood he must have had if he thinks children make you less happy.
