Prayers for Jim Robinson
May 14, 2008
Posted on 05/14/2008 5:16:40 PM PDT by trussell
Prayer Request Jim Robinson is having surgery tomorrow, May 15th See the posts below for information about this procedure. Jim Update:
It has been a frustrating day, I finally have a update for everyone.
I called Jim at the hospital. The nurse was in his room and gave him the phone. Sheila took his cell phone to him so I will be able to contact him easier. Also they took his laptop.
Due to major pain killers, he was able to sleep in the bed last night and was in bed when I called.
He sounded better than he has for the past few months. He will be there for at least one more night; maybe more depending on decisions being made tonight.
They may remove Jim's left leg at the knee tomorrow. The docs have told him that the poison in that leg is going to continue causing problems.
Jim is really reluctant to let them remove the leg but I told him that if it will relieve the pain and stop all the damage it is doing to his internal organs, he should let them take it. Jim cannot use his legs now. He only has limited use of his right leg and no muscle remains in his left leg. The muscular dystrophy has done a number on his muscles while he has been ill.
I hope this makes sense.
When I hear what the decision is, I will let you know. In the meantime, Jim needs our prayers tonight and tomorrow.
Father, hear our prayers. 930 posted on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 8:55:24 PM by JustAmy*********************************
Thanks for all the updates, Amy I just talked to Chris and he said that Notpoliticallycorewrecked is visiting with Jim at this time. He also said that the Doctors have decided that tomorrow Jim has to make the decision about his leg The Doctors believe, as you stated, that it has to be removed to keep the infection from spreading. So I imagine that is the decision he will make. Don't worry about him getting online, he has an air card so he can get online anywhere. He misses being able to read and post here tremendously naturally. This is his baby. Good news that the swelling has gone down dramatically in his left leg and that for the first time in months he is not in pain 24 hrs a day and was able to sleep more than usual. Chris had no idea how long he would be hospitalized, but I would imagine it will be several more days, especially if the operation on his leg is done soon. Good advice you gave Jim, Amy. Yes, Mama Bear don't hesitate to visit, it will be highly appreciated and encouraging to see such good friends as you and that jk I'm sure Jim is blessed indeed to have family that are watching over him closely and taking care of his needs, getting him to the hospital and other numerous tasks And the legion here that are pulling for him.

**************************************** Today's short update:
I just talked to Jim; the surgery will be performed tomorrow. He doesn't know what time yet. He said he is feeling pretty good. Also, he slept off and on last night. May have been due to the stress.
I am going to try to see him this afternoon. He has some tests scheduled but he doesn't think they will take very long.
He is not allowed to have his laptop in the patient area so he cannot get online until he can get down to the lobby.
His words ..... "Please tell everyone how much I appreciate their thoughts and prayers. Oh Yeah ..... tell them I'll be back online as soon as I'm able.
Anyway, thank you for your prayers.

Thanks so very much. It is nice to know it is forwarded. It sounds like the PO Box is the way to go now.
You probably read about the problems at Walter Reed, but it really was noticed by those of us who found our mail in sacks, “forgotten” in a back room...by a volunteer, I believe. It was a huge amount of mail in the early days and inadequate staff to deal with it. All fixed now, I think.

Thanks for the uplifting update, MB. Glad you and JK were able to drive up to see “the boss”.
Great collage to remind us of what the VA is all about.

How nice to read your report of your visit with Jim.
I am sure he appreciated it and we all thank you for doing what we, because of distance, can not do.
Your pictures are great too.

I told Jim that the moderators are flipping coins to determine who should be banned.

Didn't JK enlarge and frame this as a special prize at one of our Fresno FReeper picnics? Seems that Texas Cowboy won it for traveling the furtherest to attend. Hope my memory serves me right. ;~ ) Correct, JustAmy, see you haven't lost it!

Mama Bear,
I’m a frequent reader & rare poster. I very much appreciate what Jim started here and the many Freepers who make this site what it is and keep the info flowing.
I’ve been checking in periodically to check on Jim and truly appreciate the updates you and the others have been posting.
Please give him my best and let him know he’s in my prayers. I look forward to hearing he’s home.

I tend to agree with WVNan
Not only can they do wonders with prostheses these days, but many people are able to do things they could not do before when they get a prosthesis.
There is no indication that there is anything wrong with Jim's upper leg and hip.
Thanks Nan for your positive outlook!

Hi fanfan
I delivered a Chef's Salad to Jim early this evening, and he appreciated it.
As he has turned into dainty eater lately, I brought him a small one.
It was purchased by jkphoto from a restaurant in Fresno
Thank you for the nice thoughtful idea!
To: fanfan; JustAmy
Oops, guess I jumped the gun:

My monitor keeps fogging up too. I’ve been praying hard, and taking great comfort in the updates that suggest JR is in good spirits and recovering nicely. JR, you are an inspiration.
