A must read. A coming train wreck. Does anybody in the GOP care? Or will we keep getting RINOs shoved down our throats? Will the GOP main plank continue to be: "a new tone" and "reaching across the aisle", and "extending our hand"? Maybe we need another Gang of 14!

Davis wasn’t a RINO. Childers did run as a conservative. Hopefully with Obama on the ticket in November this might get pulled back on our side, but who knows.

If you think mayor Davis is a rino, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. Davis is about as conservative as you can get, I know him personally. He would have been a great addition to the House.

To blame “rinos” on this loss is totally absurd. The country is pissed at Republicans for a multitude of reasons, some relating to rino politics (spending, immigration) some not (Iraq). The economy is also a big factor.

Wake up. The MS loss had nothing to do with RINO politics. It had everything to do with Mississippians wanting a generic “change” of brands.

Uh oh.

I think there have been three GOP losses in special elections just recently to democrats....... This one in MS, the one in LA around Baton Rouge which Woody Jenkins lost and one other I can’t remember. Not good news for the GOP even at the local levels it seems.

Boener and Blunt have to go in the House. They shoul have never been elected to their slots after the 2006 train wreck.

BTW, who in the heck is the Chair of the RNC???? Still can’t get an answer to that one.

Republicans congress people have no one to blame but themselves, they need to show their conservative values, and more people would support them.. look at the vote on drilling for gas yesterday in the senate.. I think 7 Rinos voted against it...when every one in their states are feeling the pinch when they gas up..

Republicans had better unite behind a clearly stated conservative agenda or face bitter defeat in ‘08. The GOP needs to start standing for getting spending under control and tax cuts or it will lose it’s butt.

“The leadership aide suggested that a former NRCc chairman, Virginia Rep. Tom Davis, could take on a larger role in the coming months.”

Yeah, THAT’LL help!

What a bunch of DUMBA—ES.

Among other things, Childress had better sounding negative ads and ran a ton more of them - including during Rush Limbaugh’s show. The DNCC, I should say, they ran the ads so that Childress could claim to be above the fray.

a spread that several Republican strategists on Capitol Hill characterized as a startling wake-up call for a party in dire straits

They didn't answer the wake-up call that came in 2006.

They are going to find themselves startled again in 2008, if they don't wake-up soon.

[With their presumptive nominee, it may already be too late for 08. Oh well, maybe they will decide to answer by 2012.]

Just an indication of what is to come and a big reason that if McLame is elected that he will be stymied by Congress and Senate which are controlled by the Dims.

first, the dem pulled the usual dirty trick spreading a flyer about davis being a racist .
But the RCC is a mess thanks to Boehner lack of leadership.
The American spectator was talking about this last year.
Blame the RNC and the RCC for this mess.

It’s time for the conservatives to throw out the RINOs and take the party back. Or else, start our own party, which is the poorer of the two options.

If you don’t stand for SOMETHING, you will fall for EVERYTHING.

After 8 years of a pseudo-conservative, the Republicans are running an out-and-out Rino with an explosive temper for Congress. The economy is in a shambles and the average VOTING American is being hurt - BADLY - by skyrocketing costs and the embarrassment in the White House flies to Israel for a visit.

The Repubs and Bush SHOULD be pushing for oil drilling anywhere we can in the U.S. providing funding at an accelerated level for nuclear-powered electric plants, increasing the use of coal using new technologies, construction of new refineries, stopping the flow of oil into the oil reserves already at 97% capacity, putting the screws to the market in oil speculation, and funding accelerated research for alternate energy.

Instead of buying into the religious cult of Global Warming like the Non-Entity in the White House and the fool running for President and the Democrat Party, they should be exposing this for the hoax it is.

They should stand for an English as an Official Language platform and support the construction of a physical border wall with Mexico as well as deportation of all illegal aliens.

Unless the Republicans return to their conservative roots, they will die as a political party and, if that’s the case, we are better off without them.

We need another political party - one free of the Rockefeller-Bush-Rove RINOs.
