Back to #60 - Good points, but I must also respect the fact that he was virtually alone in first proposing a troop surge in Iraq - which is saving lives and protecting our national interests, and I am comfortable with his level of commitment to securing Iraq.
I also understand that if we leave Iraq, it will undermine our credibility, weaken our deterrence of the enemy, and place us at much greater risk for future attacks. If I have to put up with McCain in order to prevent that, so be it.

This is true, predictive, visionary-style comments.
They will ALL come to pass if the Mistake which the Republicans Chose, John McCain, enters the White House.

If Obama wants Gitmo closed, it's closed. If obama wants troops pulled, they're pulled. When the huge conservative backlash you're dreaming of eventually happens(no guarantee), Obama will have already surrendered (guaranteed)! The war will have been lost yet you somehow see this as a good thing for conservatives? Not this conservative.
To: Neverforget01
(1) You of course realize all of this happens with Obama as Commander -in-Chief?
(2) In fact, Obama plans to pull the troops guaranteeing all the sacrifices made in battling Al-Qaeda will have been in vain.
Obama has already said he will not listen to the generals in Iraq. Obama is more dangerous to our nation's security than Achmadinejad.
Don't force our troops to surrender when they've come so far.
(1) I'm not convinced that the Senate becomes filibuster proof. Are you convinced of that? If it isn't, then the Republicans can block anything they want to.
(2) If Obama tries to get House and Senate approval, the Republicans can filibuster against this also.
Nobody will oppose McCain if he tries to do any of this.
You assume an awful lot when you think McCain will do our bidding on Iraq. I have already covered the downside of Gitmo and all related matters. You dismissed that damage out of hand.
John McCain sold out our troops MIA. If he couldn't stick it out until all our troops were accounted for in Vietnam, why are you so convinced he'll stick out supporting our troops in Iraq.
You're living in a fantasy world. I posted all that information above for a reason. Go back and read it.

Thanks for the comments Rockitz. It’s interesting to see folks come here and trash folks like us for voicing what is in our hearts.
I have voted for every RINO in my life. And now I’m dilusional because I won’t do it any longer.
There was a line I was unwilling to cross, and John McCain drew it. I’m sure your thoughts run along the same lines.
I appreciate you voicing that take on things.

Of course you do realize that by reading the thread and adding your own "cute" comments that you're in the herd too.Absolutely !!!
Well. Sorta. Kinda.
You've got to be a bit of an outrider to be able to marvel at the view.
But a fair enough observation, nonetheless.

If Obama tries to get House and Senate approval, the Republicans can filibuster against this also. As Commander in Chief, Obama doesn't need Congressional approval to withdraw troops. He has already said this is the first thing he will do and he is not planning on listening to the Generals.
To: Racehorse
I actually passed over these comments by you. Then it dawned on me that all I had to do to avoid this type of comment, was to have labeled this a Pray for McCain thread or a McCain Day in Pictures thread.
You’ll have to forgive me. I’ve only been here a decade and I haven’t quite learned everything yet.
Yep, the herd only runs on the side of those who oppose McCain huh. rotflmao

I believe that McCain will damage Conservatism almost fatally. I do happen to believe that Conservatism is the best ideology for the United States, so I’m not going to support him doing it.

With McCain they are not unified, even against some pretty ripe legislation. John would essentially get a pass on all but the most extreme legislation. Now you may have a valid point here, I'll give you that. The problem with this is you have to assume McLame will be able to pass more liberal legislation than Obama will. If this is true you will also have to assume that these same RINOs will not vote for more said liberal policies in the name of bi-partisanship if Obama was in power. I don't think it will happen the way you say it will here, but I'm not saying I don't have my doubts. I agree with you that this is not acceptable Republican behavior, my friend. I think you are a principled man, and you hate to see what is going on in the GOP. I wish more congressmen where like you in that regard.

Now wait a minute. Isn’t this the same McCain that lead out for Conservatism in the Reagan years? (And here I thought it was Reagan that did, silly me)
Thanks CalCowGirl. I love it when you remind us of stuff like that.

Its interesting to see folks come here and trash folks like us for voicing what is in our hearts.Hey, you don't even have to voice what's in your heart. I gave my opinion on what would happen in the election without trashing McCain or supporting anyone else, and I was told to "stop bitching". (and to "act like a man", lol) Classy.
To: DoughtyOne
Can’t get behind the guy? Cause he doesn’t match every one of your positions? Grow up just a little. Why don’t you vote for Obama instead then?

Excellent quote.
I think that your reference is from the Book of John when Nathaniel is greeted with news of the Messiah being found, and that He is from Nazareth.
PS... I think McCain is a real jerkoid when it comes to his Q&A forums with Americans.
See McCain harshly denigrate people for questioning his judgment on immigration:

Hal are you aware that McCain actually had two or three different stances on troop levels in Iraq? He has basically bracketed Bush with policy differences since 2000. Then he comes off as being the first guy who proposed anything that happens.
I don’t trust him bud. If you want to, you’re a big guy. Go ahead. I’m not going to rag on you for doing it.
I can’t.

It looks like a lot conservatives are wimpy self-defeatists. No wonder principled men routinely get their butts kicks by passionless liberal zombies. My advice to you is to act like a man and do your part and stop bitching about what everybody else does or does not do. Actually, it is the moderates and McCain/Kennedy-wing of the Republican Party that are the defeatists. They don't believe in the platform, instead embracing liberal policies of their opponents in an effort to win. Pandering to the liberals of La Raza, embracing the UN wealth-redistribution scheme of global warming, weakening our country's sovereignty through LOST, and on and on and on. These weak RINO politicians have no backbone--no core. Instead, they are willing to capitulate on any principle and jettison the entire Republican Platform in their quest for power.
The zombies who will vote for anything with an (R) next to their name will follow these so-called "leaders" right off the same cliff that the Democrats want to take us. And the zombies will run around and bad-mouth anyone who actually stands for what they believe in while iterating liberal talking points.

Are you aware that both Obama and Clinton have stated that they can’t actually pull troops out immediately? Well, they have and in the last six weeks.
