All indications are the Democrats will pick up seats in both the House and Senate, with the Senate likely being a couple of RHINOs away from the magic 60. McCain is no Reagan but he's the only thing standing in the way of the most liberal Senator in Senate becoming President with a clear majority in Congress and at a critical time with decisions to be made on the war on terror, the war in Iraq, heath care, taxes, illegal immigration and likely the Supreme Court.
Sometimes you do have to pick the lesser of two evils. This is one of them. I am fully aware that I'll be let down by McCain on some key issues but I know I'll be let down on all of them if Obama is President.
Excellent points!!!
You sir, are the main reason the GOP has fallen into the mess it is in today. The result of where the country is today is also because of that attitude.
“Soros is spending millions for paid operatives to infiltrate FR and other forums and blogs in order to create dissatisfaction and suppress the Republican vote. Why would someone rant on about not voting for McCain unless the objective is to get others to do the same.”
Damn! Guess I’ve been a Soros money-taking plant since 1998!
Their campaign slogan;
“Guilt and Shame! Vote For More of the Same!”
You guys just don’t get it do you?
We are NOT McCains base, we are Conservatives, and we are our own base.
Conservatives need to stand firm and resist moving in McCains direction.
He needs us, we DO NOT NEED HIM.
Yes, but first you start from a conservative perspective before you compromise, and then you only compromise to degrees, not give up your principles. Reagan was coming from a firm foundation. Reagan promoted and praised conservatism. McCain reserves his harshest criticism for conservatives and conservatism. I don’t trust him, I don’t like him, and he can go to hell.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldnt make any sense at all. —Ronald Reagan
“A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.
I do not believe I have proposed anything that is contrary to what has been considered Republican principle. It is at the same time the very basis of conservatism. It is time to reassert that principle and raise it to full view. And if there are those who cannot subscribe to these principles, then let them go their way.”
— Ronald Reagan, March 1, 1975
“Let us lay to rest, once and for all, the myth of a small group
of ideological purists trying to capture a majority.
Replace it with the reality of a majority trying to assert
its rights against the tyranny of powerful academics, fashionable
left-revolutionaries, some economic illiterates who happen to hold
elective office and the social engineers who dominate the dialogue
and set the format in political and social affairs. If there is any
ideological fanaticism in American political life, it is to be found
among the enemies of freedom on the left or right — those who would
sacrifice principle to theory, those who worship only the god of
political, social and economic abstractions, ignoring the realities of everyday life. They are not conservatives.”

Uhh...there are only 9 judges on SCOTUS.
Your complete and utter inability to reason logically about this is mind-boggling. It is, of course, possible that you’re nothing more than a liberal infiltrator. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
You’re probably not aware that your actions have consequences. You dislike John McCain, which is fine. He was most people’s dead-last choice for the nomination. That said, it will come down to Obama or McCain. Either you support one or you support the other. Liberals who don’t vote are in effect supporting McCain while conservatives who don’t vote are in effect supporting Obama. Now, I know this is terribly difficult to understand. If you claim to be a conservative and you do not vote for McCain, you are helping a socialist get elected. You can cut and paste your same idiotic line again and it won’t change one simple fact:
You’re only screwing yourself.
That Great American sounds just like Jim Robinson, right?
and btw, Jim, I hope you are getting better!!!
Out of one side of McNasty’s mouth, comes him begging us to support him. (Seeing his nearly zero campaign funds coming in.) But on the other side, he goes on O’Reilly and and convinces us without even a reasonable doubt how dangerous he is or how much he despises our principles or our agenda.
Then he further insults us, by scolding those of us who are ignorant enough to support him, by publicly denouncing Conservatives rightfully criticising the Democrats.
Anyone who cannot see this idiot for who or what he is is either brain-dead or from another planet.
He doesn’t deserve it, but what the Hell has America done to deserve Obama? It’s one or the other.
What, what, what!!!?? You mean Reagan broke his 11th commandment and was critical of rino republicans! That’s not going to settle well with some.
Have you any children?
My, you are a friendly sort.
Screw anyone who would not do everything possible to save our Republic. What the Dhimms get done is very, very hard to get undone. Look how long we’ve been working on abortion.
“He doesnt deserve it, but what the Hell has America done to deserve Obama?”
America deserves both because America has chosen them.
