Wake up Conservative Base!
Posted on 05/10/2008 9:11:06 AM PDT by RonnieFan
All indications are the Democrats will pick up seats in both the House and Senate, with the Senate likely being a couple of RHINOs away from the magic 60. McCain is no Reagan but he's the only thing standing in the way of the most liberal Senator in Senate becoming President with a clear majority in Congress and at a critical time with decisions to be made on the war on terror, the war in Iraq, heath care, taxes, illegal immigration and likely the Supreme Court.
Sometimes you do have to pick the lesser of two evils. This is one of them. I am fully aware that I'll be let down by McCain on some key issues but I know I'll be let down on all of them if Obama is President.

Whether we elect McCain or Obama, this country is headed for bad days.
The only remaining question is, will it be a gradual slide or a full, head on sprint.

We will NEVER regain what we lose over the next 8 years of Obama. Never.
Actually, I feel your pain. I would agree. But then I start thinking with my head instead of my heart.
It’s a free country, and you might be right. I just can’t see it, though. I hope you suceed, and would willingly be wrong here. But I am going to hold my nose and vote for McCain.

Agreed. But he’s still the best candidate that has a shot at the White House.

Only takes a few shivs between the shoulder blades with that motherf*****s fingerprints on the handle to open your eyes.At least with Obama he will stab you from the front in the heart.
Honestly, I'm going to vote for McQueeg, but I'd have to use my left hand to push the button while I contemplate how to face myself in the morning.
I guess the only consolation is knowing a non vote for McQueeq is a yes vote for Obama.
God help us.

With McCain, Republicans in congress will be forced to go along with his sure-to-be concessions to Democrats. But those same Republican congressmen will stand up and block a disastrous Democrat agemda. Precisely!! Finally someone who truely understands the real-world process.

The problem is that I just read a thread that claims that Huckabee is going to be McCain’s choice for VP. McCain can’t win with Huckabee on the ticket.

Working, you actually think the actions of John McCain while he was a POW being tortured is equivalent of John Kerry when he went to Paris to negotiate with the North Vietnamese???

BWAHAHAHAHA! Figuring out that McCain's "Giuliani Gambit" isn't working out any better for McCain than it did for Giuliani? ROTFLMAO!
You've made your bed, now go lie in it.
There are only two ways to win.
1.) Crater McCain before he craters the party. current leadership must step down, and cede the control of the party to the Conservatives. Then convince the Conservative base of principled intentions and loft a true blue Conservative as the nominee at the convention.
2.)A Conservative running as a third party or independent candidate.
With the exception of those two chances, all roads lead to Democrats.
